Analysis of Coloring Degree of a Dental Bracket by Optical Sensor (광 소자를 이용한 치과용 브라켓의 착색 정도 연구)

  • 현재에는 과거와 달리 표면상 비춰지는 외모의 중요성이 강조되어 치아 교정을 해서 미적 욕구를 충족시키려는 사람들이 증가하고 있다. 특히나 치아를 교정할 때 사용되는 치아교정용 브라켓은 부착되는 위치가 치아 앞면이기 때문에 미관상의 중요성은 치아교정장치 중 가장 크다. 이러한 이유 때문에 미적인 부분을 고려하여 치아색과 유사한 브라켓이 개발되었는데, 이 브라켓은 레진 브라켓이다. 이는 치아 교정에 도움을 주면서 심미성이 우수한 장점이 있지만 음식을 섭취할 때 음식의 색소에 의해 브라켓의 색 변화가 일어난다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 사람들이 자주 섭취하는 음식이나 음료에 치아교정용 브라켓을 착색시켜 색이 변하는 정도의 차이를 컬러센서를 이용해 측정하였다. 이렇게 측정된 브라켓의 RGB 값은 객관적이고 정량적인 값을 나타낼 수 있다. 이는 브라켓의 변색 뿐만 아니라 치아 미백 치료에도 적용되어 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Experimental performance evaluation and comparison for lightweight piezo-composite actuator LIPCA (압전 복합재료 작동기 LIPCA에 대한 성능 비교실험 및 분석)

  • This paper is concerned with the performance evaluation and comparison analysis fur several kinds of LIPCA (Lightweight Piezo-Composite Actuator) device system. LIPCA device system is composed of a piezoelectric ceramic layer and fiber reinforced light composite layers, typically a PZT ceramic layer was sandwiched by a top fiber layer with low CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) and base layers with high CTE. To investigate the effect of lay-up structure of the LIPCA on the actuating performance, four kinds of actuator with different lay-up stacking sequence were designed, manufactured, and tested. The performance of each actuator was evaluated using an actuator test system consisted of an actuator supporting jig, a high voltage actuating power supplier, and a non-contact laser measuring system. From the comparison of the performance of the LIPCA prototypes, it was found that the actuator with higher coefficient of unimorph actuator can generate larger actuating displacement.

  • In this research, the integrated modeling system by coupling of a watershed model, a reservoir model, and a river model has been constructed in Doam reservoir watershed. Because of domestic climate characteristics, it is inevitable to construct the dam for control of flood, water use, and power production due to the heavy rain in the summer. Especially, when the dam is constructed on the stream for these kinds of purpose, it is necessary to consider this region as one watershed and also to make the integrated system for simulation and management. In this study, SWAT model was constructed for watershed modeling and EFDC-WASP model was constructed for simulating the hydrodynamic and water quality of the reservoir and the downstream in Doam dam watershed. Also, the water quality improvement equipment for demonstration was applied in the upstream part of Doam reservoir, which shows the applicability of the developed integrated modeling system.

Skin Color Based Hand and Finger Detection for Gesture Recognition in CCTV Surveillance (CCTV 관제에서 동작 인식을 위한 색상 기반 손과 손가락 탐지)

  • In this paper, we proposed the skin color based hand and finger detection technology for the gesture recognition in CCTV surveillance. The aim of this paper is to present the methodology for hand detection and propose the finger detection method. The detected hand and finger can be used to implement the non-contact mouse. This technology can be used to control the home devices such as home-theater and television. Skin color is used to segment the hand region from background and contour is extracted from the segmented hand. Analysis of contour gives us the location of finger tip in the hand. After detecting the location of the fingertip, this system tracks the fingertip by using only R channel alone, and in recognition of hand motions to apply differential image, such as the removal of useless image shows a robust side. We explain about experiment which relates in fingertip tracking and finger gestures recognition, and experiment result shows the accuracy above 96%.

Determination of Phase Velocity Dispersion Curve and Group Velocity of lamb Waves Using Backward Radiation (후방복사를 이용한 램파의 위상속도 분산과 군속도의 측정)

  • The guided wave has been widely employed to characterize thin plates and layered media. The dispersion curves of phase and group velocities are essential for the quantitative application of guided waves. In the present work, a fully automated system for the measurement of backward radiation of LLW has been developed. The specimen moves in two dimensional plane as well as in angular rotation. The signals of backward radiation of LLW were measured from an elastic plate in which specific modes of Lamb wave were strongly generated. Phase velocity of the corresponding modes was determined from the incident angle. The generated Lamb waves propagated forward and backward with the leakage of energy into water. Backward radiated LLW was detected by the same transducer and its frequency components were analyzed to extract the related information to the dispersion curves. The dispersion curves of phase velocity were measured by varying the incident angle. Moving the specimen in the linear direction of LLW propagation, group velocity was determined by measuring the transit time shift in the ultrasonic waveform.

Study on a Navigated Simulator of the Underwater Cleaning Robot (수중청소로봇의 운항 제어용 시뮬레이터 연구)

  • In this paper, a 3-D simulator was developed to estimate visually the performance of propelling and integrated control system of the underwater cleaning robot. Based on the dynamics analysis of the UCR, the 3-D model of the UCR was used in the simulator in which position and velocity are included Also, an input and control system using a joystick was developed, and the simulator was applied to the input and control of the simulator. Moreover, an integrated navigation control system was designed, and its performance was validated by a way-point simulator including a PI-based fuzzy control law.

  • This paper describes technical method about remote control and monitoring of local system by use personal mobile device in anytime and anywhere. Therefore, the user don't need to stay in operation room of local system. The PC server environment for the mobile connection are constructed with Apache web server, PHP and MySQL ODBC. The mobile internet homepage for the remote mobile connection is designed by Anybuilder software and mobile simulator, Openwave SDK 6.2 is used for the development. The mobile internet program can be applicate to all of domestic communication companies LGT, SKT and KTF. We use KTF mobile contains WAP browser for the test. We used NI Labview software to control and monitoring of local system. The local system, which will be controlled remotely have constructed with analog/digital signal acquisition device, signal control board and their software. By experiments, we confirmed remote control by mobile device are possible.

  • Large energy consumption is one of the main weaknesses of RO desalination. A new method is proposed to reduce the energy consumption of RO desalination which depends on the salinity of the feedwater. Low salinity feedwater can be obtained using groundwater wells which extracts both fresh groundwater and subsurface sea water. Subsurface feedwater is advantageous in overcoming other problems associated with surface seawater intakes. Salinities of groundwater depend on a number of factors. In this work a new simulation-optimization model is proposed to identify well locations and pumping rates with would provide the required design flow rate with the minimum salinity. When groundwater is developed in a coastal area, the saltwater wedge advances inland and may contaminate existing groundwater wells, which must be prevented. The model can protect existing wells while developing minimum salinity feedwater. Examples are provided to demonstrate the usage of the model.

  • Ti-6Al-4V-N films have been grown onto glass substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering from a Ti-6Al-4V-N alloy target at different nitrogen partial pressure, input powers and sputtering times. The influence of various sputtering conditions on structural properties of Ti-6Al-4V-N films was investigated by measuring their X-ray diffraction. The quaternary Ti-6Al-4V-N film is crystallizing in a face centered cubic TiN structure, the lattice parameter is smaller than the TiN parameter as titanium atoms of the TiN lattice are replaced by aluminum and vanadium atoms. The films show the (111) preferred orientation and the (111) peak intensity decreases as the nitrogen partial pressure is increased, but the intensity increases as the sputtering time is increased. The deposition rate and the grain size are alto related with the variation of various sputtering conditions.

  • The conventional assistive tool for visually impaired people provide Simple service using a ultrasound, or an RFID tag to identify the obstacles. It is impossible to clear guide and has a vulnerability to unforeseen circumstances because of short recognition distance, The ARM Cortex-A9 Platform based implementation of the Portable Navigation System and Service Center will help the visually impaired gait. The Service Center will also provide solution for the lack of jobs due to the increase of the aging population. Navigation System that the visually impaired can carry possessing devices such as a camera, GPS, Audio, Ethernet transmit Image shown at the location of the visually impaired, GPS information and Sound Via TCP / IP. The staff of the service center receives information and can provide directions by communicating with them. So, the system can provide effective guidance to the visually impaired.
