Causes of accidents and preventive measures due to defects in pump car booms (펌프카의 붐대 결함에 의한 사고원인과 방지대책)

  • Pump car is an equipment that transports concrete products as needed to the place where they are poured. In order to pour a large amount of concrete in a short period of time, using a pump car is the most efficient in terms of economic efficiency and quality control. However, recently, many casualties have occurred due to boom damage during concrete pouring, so this study suggests that improvements are needed in the equipment manufacturing stage, inspection standards for old equipment, and equipment rental system. The reason is that, as a result of the finite element analysis of the pump car, the significant stress acting at the second stage of the boom and the maximum stress at the top of the boom were found to be 895.39 MPa, and M.S. Since it was evaluated the lowest at 0.04, the need for reinforcement was recognized. And it was confirmed that the 2nd stage boom was the most stressful and vulnerable part of the 1st to 5th stage booms. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the thickness and rigidity of members at the design and manufacturing stage, and to reinforce the steel plates of currently used equipment. In addition, it is urgent to establish a system that makes non-destructive testing mandatory for all general construction machinery and holds inspection agencies responsible for missing boom defects during non-destructive testing and regular inspections.

A Study on the Selection of Subject Vessel for Development of Oil Recovery Equipment for Small Vessel (소형선박용 기름회수장비 개발을 위한 대상선박 선정에 관한 연구)

  • Our country has experienced some difficulties with clean up operation of massive marine oil pollution due to the lack of oil spill response equipments. And there was the case that a fishing vessel performed clean up operation had not received any proper payments because of its inefficient oil spill response operation. Thus, it is important to develop an efficient oil recovery equipment for small vessel and adopt it as a part of oil pollution prevention policy. These efforts could prepare oil spill response equipment in advance and use a fishing vessel registered in the affected area by massive marine oil pollution. Therefore, this study examines and adopts a suitable subject vessels as a first step for developing oil recovery system fitting with small vessels for national use.

The Safety Equipment for Small-Size Vessel (소형 선박용 안전장치)

  • These days as there are a growing vessel volume in the costal area, the marine accidents has being increased. IMO recommend that all vessels have to be equipped with the safety equipments mandatorily for the safety navigation. Almost medium and large size vessels are equipped with the safety navigational equipments, But many small size vessels are not equipped with those ones because of its owner's financial hardship or indifference. So for the safety of small size vessels in the coastal area, the marine accidents such as stranding, sinking, collision, and so on, have to be protected in advance or the occurred accidents has to be treated quickly. In this paper, the safety equipment for small size vessels having these functions has been developed. This equipment can guarantee the safety of small size vessels in defenseless state considerably by displaying these states in seamen's Smart phone or the cheap dedicated terminal and also informing the control center and nearby other vessels of these states.

Accident Reduction Effects by year After Installation of Red Light Cameras (무인신호위반단속장비 설치 후의 연도별 사고감소 효과)

  • Because ROTA(road traffic authority) analyzes the effects of accident reduction based on the data of 1-year after installation of RLC(red light camera), study of accident reduction effects over year after the installation of RLC is very short. This study deals with the traffic accident reduction during 3 years after the installation of RLC. The objective is to analyze the effects of accident reduction by year using EB method. In pursuing the above, the study uses the 951 accident data occurred at the 20 intersections which RLC are installed. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the safety performance function (SPF) has been developed by the Poisson regression models which are statistically significant. Second, the results of an Empirical Bayes(EB) analyses showed that the accidents were reduced by the range from 2.73 to 38.75% after 1 year, from 6.85 to 47.36% after 2 year, and from 6.04 to 39.31% after 3 year from the installation of RLC.

  • The XLPE(or CV) cables installed to deliver high electric power from generator at the power station have operating for the last 40 years in Korea. In 6-8 years from the time of initial operation, the cables in operation start a deteriorating process, depending on the installation and usage conditions. Some cables, even before 6-8 years from the installation, can cause accidents due to the faulty construction or other inadequate environments. In order to prevent cable accident in advance, the regular auditing of power cables are required. For a systematic realization of surveillance and prevention of accidents, we have invented a measuring device. In this paper, we present the device installed at Korean Western Power Co. Ltd., in order to detect the deterioration status of insulation resistances of dielectrics in the cables. We present that the measured results by the device we developed show the deteriorating processes in the cables in operation.

  • 타워크레인은 빌딩, 아파트, 교하공간이 높은 교량, 플랜트 공사 등 고소작업이 이루어지는 공사에서 유익하게 사용되는·건설장비이다 타워크레인은 단면에 비하여 그 설치높이가 높아서 매우 세장한 구조물이며, 마스트 상부에 설치되어 있는 상부구조물(타워 해드, 지브, 카운터 지브, 카운터 웨이트, 기계장치 등)의 자중이 매우 크기 때문에 하중균형, 풍하중, 인양하중 등에 아주 민감한 강구조물이다. 따라서 이러한 타워크레인의 특성에 대한 이해의 부족과 안전한 작업방법의 불이행 등으로 인한 사고가 가끔 발생되고 있으며, 타워크레인의 사고는 곧바로 중대재해로 이어지고 있다.(중략)

  • 선박화재는 육상과 달리 숙련된 인원과 다양한 장비에 의한 소화활동이 곤란하며 거의 자체적인 진화작업을 수행해야하므로 소화가 쉽지 않다. 화재는 일반적으로 화염에 의한 인명사고 보다 매연에 의한 질식사의 확률이 높으므로 인명사고를 방지하기 위해서는 신속한 초기 진화가 가장 중요하다. 하지만 여러 가지 이유로 부득이 소화가 지연되거나 불가능할 경우에는 화재 구역으로부터 신속한 탈출만이 인명사고를 방지할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 CFD기법을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통하여 선박화재시 탈출에 지장이 되는 매연농도를 측정하고 피난시간과 비교하여 적절한 피난이 가능한지에 대한 안전성을 검토하고자 한다.
