  • Digital image processing is utilized in various application fields by rapid development of memory cell. However, the noise occurs with various causes in the process of data processing process and various methods have been studied in order to remove such noises. In general, the image is damaged by the mixed noise which has different characteristics each other. This paper proposed a filter algorithm which processes the data according to shape of noise in order to mitigate the impact of the mixed noise added to the image. In addition, this paper compared this filter algorithm with the current methods and used PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as a criterion of judgment.

  • Digital image processing is the technical area of processing and analysis with intellectual and efficient ways, which has been commercialized in a variety of applications. However, the noise is occurred in the image data with multiple reasons and various studies have been performed to eliminate the noise. Generally, the types of noise vary by causes and forms, and composite noise is the representative one. Hence, the modified switching filter to process by types of noise was suggested to eliminate composite noise in the image effectively and to have excellent characteristics of edge conservation.

  • In order to reduce the noise quantity in a conversation under the noisy environment it is necessary for the signal processing system to process adaptively according to the noise quantity in order to enhance the performance. Therefore this paper presents a recognition method for noise quantity by linear predictive coefficient using a three layered neural network, which is trained using three kinds of speech that is degraded by various background noises. The performance of the proposed method for the noise quantity was evaluated based on the recognition rates for various noises. In the experiment, the average values of the recognition results were 98.4% or more for such noise using Aurora2 database.

  • In digital era image processing has been utilized in a variety of media such as TV, camera and smart phone. Typically salt and pepper noise are generated by various causes during the analysis, identification, and processing of image data. Principal filters such as SMF, CWMF, and AMF have been used to remove these noise. But the existing filters fall short of edge preservation and noise elimination in high noise densities. Thus, a processing algorithm, on which the size of deformable mask varies depending on the noise density, is proposed to remove salt and pepper noise effectively in this study. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated compared with the existing methods using PSNR.

  • Recently, the data image processing has been applied to a variety of fields including broadcasting, communication, computer graphics, medicine, and so on. Generally, the image data may develop the noise during their transmission. Therefore, the studies have been actively conducted to remove the noise on the image. There are diverse types of noise on the image including salt and pepper noise, AWGN, and mixed noise. Hence, the filter algorithm for the image recovery was proposed that salt and pepper noise was processed by histogram and spatial weighted values after defining the noise to lessen the impact of mixed noise added in the image, and AWGN was processed by the pixel information of local mask establishing the weighted values in this study. Regarding the processed results by applying Lena images which were corrupted by salt and pepper noise(P=50%) and AWGN(${\sigma}=10$), suggested algorithm showed the improvement by 7.06[dB], 10.90[dB], 5.97[dB] respectively compared with the existing CWMF, A-TMF, AWMF.

  • In response to the recent development of IT technologies, there are more demands for visual devices such as display. However, noise is generated in the process of sending video data due to various reasons. Noise is the representative noise which is commonly found. While A-TMF, CWMF, and AMF are the typical ways for removing Salt and Pepper noise, the noise is not removed well in high-density noise environment. To remove the noise in the high-density noise environment, this study suggested an algorithm which identifies whether it's noise or not. If it's not a noise, matches the original pixel. If it's a noise, divide the $3{\times}3$ local mask into the area of the element treated and the area of the element to be processed. Then, algorithm proposes to apply different weights for each element to treat it as an average filter. To analyze the performance of the algorithm, this study compared PSNR to compare the algorithm with other existing methods.

  • Noises are usually generated by various external causes and low quality devices in image data acquisition and recording as well as by channel interference in image transmission. Since these noise signals result in the loss of information, subsequent image processing is subject to the corruption of the original image. In general, image processing is performed in the mixed noise environment where common types of noise, known to be Gaussian and impulse, are present. This study proposes an iterative weighted mean filter for reducing mixed type of noise. Impulse noise pixels are first turned off in the input image, then $3{\times}3$ sliding window regions are processed by replacing center pixel with the result of weighted mean mask operation. This filtering processes are iterated until all the impulse noise pixels are replaced. Applied to images corrupted by Gaussian noise with ${\sigma}=10$ and different levels of impulse noise, the proposed filtering method improved the PSNR by up to 12.98 dB, 1.97 dB, 1.97 dB respectively, compared to SAWF, AWMF, MMF when impulse noise desities are less than 60%.

  • Spectral subtraction is widely-used preprocessing technique for speech recognition in additive noise environments, but it requires a good estimate of the noise power spectrum. In this paper, we employ the histogram technique for the estimation of noise spectrum. This technique has advantages over other noise estimation methods in that it does not requires speech/non-speech detection and can estimate slowly-varying noise spectra. According to the speaker-independent isolated word recognition in both colored Gaussian and car noise environments under various SNR conditions. Histogram-technique-based spectral subtraction method yields superier performance to the one with conventional noise estimation method using the spectral average of initial frames during non-speech period.
