  • The relationship between homeownership and participation in giving and volunteering overall indicates that homeowners are more likely to give and participate in volunteering organizations than renters. This study compared 'giving and participation in volunteering between homeowners(n=6,078) and renters(3,587) in the 14th Korean Welfare Panel Survey data collected in 2019. The outcome measure of study is a binary outcome of giving and volunteering participation. This study accounted for a bias arising from selection on observables. Specifically, this study employed a recursive bivariate probit model to simultaneously estimate respondents' participation in giving and volunteering participation and their selection of homeownership. Findings from this study have provided some evidence that homeowners and renters have different behaviors in giving and volunteering participation. Finally, issues relating to homeownership and social outcomes were discussed. Implications for social work practice and research were further discussed.

Important results of this study can be outlined as follows; First, the regional learning programs in the lifelong learning society are desirable to be configurated with the situated learning method focused on the characteristics of learners, instructors and the local contexts. In addition, the active training of regional human resources such as organizing learning circles and SERVICE-LEARNING through the participation of them is effective as a teaching method. Secondly, the consequence through the field excursion calling itself 'the geography exploration group', organized by the researcher and involved with participants together provoked the paradigm shift on their region and the regional identity. Thirdly, the active participation of local experts including geography teachers should be needed for the popularization of geography education. The results of this research as follows: First, in demographic variables, women revealed as they donate more than men(${\beta}=.223$, p<.05). And the more the age grows, the less they donate or volunteer periodically(${\beta}=-.009$, p<.001). Second, in working conditions, paid workers showed less donate behavior than self-employment workers and economically inactive population(${\beta}=-.578$, p<.001). Third, Self-esteem(${\beta}=1.673$, p<.001)and Life satisfaction(${\beta}=1.01$, p<.001) showed significant effect on donate behavior. Lastly, scholarship of father(${\beta}=.211$, p<.001) revealed as significant on donate behavior. However, scholarship of mother did not showed significant effect. • Low density ceramic supporter was prepared by using fly ash as a starting mterial with borax or glass powders. Also the wheat powders were used by 30 wt% to increase the initial porosity of the supporter. The density of the supporter decreased as the amount of borax increased. The bulk density of $0.79g/\textrm{cm}^3$ and the apparent density of $1.10g/\textrm{cm}^3$ were obtained when the fly ash with 15% of borax was sintered at $1160^{\circ}C$ for 15 minutes. The density also decreased as the plate glass powders past through $212\mu\textrm{m}$ size were mixed. When the fly ash with 12% of glass powder was sintered at $1280^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes, the bulk and apparent density were $0.90g/\textrm{cm}^3$ and $1.00g/\textrm{cm}^3$, respectively.

  • This study uses Gini coefficient to index the inequality of academic information resource among universities to identify the areas where the gap is extremely severe, and analyzes the Gini coefficient over time for 10 years to show how the gap is changing. In addition, the degree and characteristics of the gap appearing by type of universities such as metropolitan universities, local national universities, private universities, and colleges were also compared. As a result, first, the university library academic information infrastructure showed a severe level of disparity (0.6 - 0.9), and the inequality was more severe in serials, electronic resources, and reference service. Even when the relative Gini coefficient was calculated considering the number of students, the inequality was over 0.4 in serial etc. Second, the Gini coefficient trend over the last decade shows that the inequality has decreased toward equality in the re-education time of employees and electronic information resources, but not in other sectors. Third, it was found that special universities and universities in the metropolitan area showed a large gap between universities of the same kind, and local national universities showed the best gap level as well as the best academic information infrastructure.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine generational differences between the youth and the middle-aged in attitude and voluntary behavior toward the elderly, to analyze the socio-demographic and psychological characteristics influencing attitude and behavior toward the elderly, and to find out whether the attitude of the youth and the middle-aged toward the elderly was the decisive factor in their behavior toward them. For this study, we surveyed 252 youth (between the ages of 20 and 30) and 314 middle-aged people (between the ages of 40 and 60). The major results were as follows: First, the psychological factor had a stronger influence on the positive attitude toward the elderly than did the socio-demographic factor. The psychological factor had an especially significant impact on the attitude of the middle-aged population. Second, youths' attitude toward the elderly influenced their behavior toward them; whereas, for the middle-aged, the socio-demographic characteristic was a decisive factor. Third, the youths' area of residence was an important factor in their attitude toward the elderly; the youth in the metropolitan area had a more negative attitude than did their counterpart. Therefore, it is necessary to develop programs to improve the negative attitude toward the elderly for the youth residing in the metropolitan area. The middle-aged need more easily accessible voluntary work programs by which a positive attitude toward the elderly leads to immediate action.
