Policy Based DDoS Attack Mitigation Methodology (정책기반의 분산서비스거부공격 대응방안 연구)

  • Since the Denial of Service Attack against multiple targets in the Korean network in private and public sectors in 2009, Korea has spent a great amount of its budget to build strong Internet infrastructure against DDoS attacks. As a result of the investments, many major governments and corporations installed dedicated DDoS defense systems. However, even organizations equipped with the product based defense system often showed incompetency in dealing with DDoS attacks with little variations from known attack types. In contrast, by following a capacity centric DDoS detection method, defense personnel can identify various types of DDoS attacks and abnormality of the system through checking availability of service resources, regardless of the types of specific attack techniques. Thus, the defense personnel can easily derive proper response methods according to the attacks. Deviating from the existing DDoS defense framework, this research study introduces a capacity centric DDoS detection methodology and provides methods to mitigate DDoS attacks by applying the methodology.

  • It is well known that international cooperation is considerably more difficult because of the difference of interests, level of technology of the partners, social and culture as well as various macro-environmental conditions. This case study aims to investigate the success factors of international R&D collaboration between two firms. For it, an in-dept interview was conducted to the Etri-Microsoft Information Security Lab. A comprehensive research on theories, such as resource-based theory, network theory, relationship marketing theory and market power perspective was done as well. The results show clear objectives, communications based on trust, core competence on which the counterpart can rely on, consideration on the government decision process as well as the environment are important for success.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the structural relationship of the impact on the business performance when it pursues resource based production strategies, nurtures core competency, develops core product lines and innovate its business models as part of a strategy of value innovation and to validate how the nurturing core competency can have an impact on the execution of the value innovation strategies. This paper confirms that there is a structural relationship, which is logically and conceptually valid, among the core competence, value innovation strategies and business performance of manufacturing companies. In order to maximize the business performance which is the eventual objective of a company, it must strategically nurture its core competence, which will be a main driver of the future competitiveness and diversify its management based on the value innovation strategies.

  • Volunteers in public libraries are recognized only as internal manpower, so their sustainability and effectiveness are limited because the motivation for volunteering is hardly considered. This study aims to explore the motivation for volunteering in public libraries and the factors to continuation of the volunteering, and to analyze how these factors affect volunteer satisfaction and marketing intentions. To this end, the variables in this studies including satisfaction and motivation was defined operationally based on the related research and a pilot study with several in-depth interviews. A questionnaire survey was executed with the defined variables and the survey data were analyzed statistically. The results showed that the factors of emotional and psychological motivation influenced the satisfaction and marketing intention rather than the managerial factors such as remuneration. The results indicate the need for a change in volunteer management to a relationship-oriented management method. This study is meaningful in that it expands the value of volunteers in public libraries from as managerial to as marketing resources for public libraries.

  • Sharing knowledge is an important factor in the discourses on the knowledge management on the campus. This article analyzed the impact of organizational context on faculty's perceptions of knowledge-sharing capabilities in the university. As a result, perceptions of knowledge-sharing capabilities and performance-based reward systems were found to significantly affect faculty knowledge-sharing capabilities in the university studied. Also, results from multivariate analysis showed that the faculty's perception of knowledge-sharing more significantly affected knowledge-sharing than reward system.

  • Competitiveness of a firm essentially depends on the value of the product or service the firm supply. Product or service of high value derives customer purchase activity. Service mix is the process which creates competitiveness by value creation for customers through optimal combination of physical characteristics of product and service. This research is to contribute competitiveness increase of Korean manufacture industry by study of the effect of service mix as to the business competitiveness. Usually competitiveness advantage approach relies on the industry structure competition theory and the resource-based approach. However, it is said that, while the industry structure competition theory helps finding attractive industry, it rarely helps finding which companies succeed or fail in the specific industry. The resource-based viewpoint approach is limited in that this cannot provide any theory or systematic frame for the analysis even though it has contributed a lot to the competitiveness increase. Power process approach is applied to this study in order to overcome this limit and to Increase the business competitiveness. Power process is the process to create the value, the source of power by interaction of power elements, value, needs, environment and relation, the five power determination elements. Power process is a process that creates value to satisfy the power objective for the attainment of the goals of the power subject. This study is to contribute for the manufacture industry by establishing service mix strategy from the power process viewpoint.

  • Even though many studies have showed that competence is positively related to organizational performance, few studies have attempted to find out the process of competency - performance. This study focuses on the organizational factors to explore their effect on the competence of customer relationship. Based on the data collected by KRIVET and the Ministry of employment and labor, strategic role of HR department and information systems are examined. As well human resource competency is investigated as a mediating variable. This study used surveys targeting department managers and executive members in firms and sample size was 1086 after cleaning the dataset by deleting all the cases with many missing values. The findings show that strategic role of HR department and information system has an influence on human resource competency, significantly. In addition, the human resource competency affect customer relationship competency, positively. Implications and directions for future research are discussed.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅은 향후 USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) 환경에서 구현될 것으로 예상되며, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에서 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)기술 기반의 응용 서비스들이 가장 먼저 활성화될 분야로 전망된다. RFID 분야에서의 보안은 RFID의 태그로 인한 프라이버시 침해가 가장 큰 문제점으로 인식되고 있으며, 기술적, 법적·제도적으로 개인의 프라이버시를 보장하기 위한 노력들이 진행 중이다. USN에서의 보안은 센서노드의 자원의 제약으로 인해 기존의 전통적인 보안과는 다른 관점에서의 접근이 필요하며, 키분배 및 관리, 안전한 라우팅 방법론, 센서네트워크에 대한 공격에 대한 안전한 네트워크 구축 등이 이슈들이다. 본 논문에서는 RFID와 USN의 보안 연구 대상에 대해서 살펴보고 이들에 대한 향후 연구 방향을 소개한다.

A Study on Plan for Utilizing Historical-Cultural Contents in the River Basin (하천유역에서의 역사·문화 콘텐츠 활용방안)

  • 하천의 기능은 공학적 관점에서의 이수, 치수, 환경 기능 외에도 사회적 관점에서 역사 문화 기능을 포함할 수 있다(우효섭, 2009). 1990년대 말부터 하천복원사업이 본격화 되면서 최근에는 하천환경 기능 외에도 친수를 포함한 역사 문화 기능이 하천관리의 주요 축으로 고려되거나 포함되고 있다. 이 과정에서 하천의 역사 문화 기능을 주문하는 요구가 증가한 이유로는 하천복원사업의 지역적 획일화, 친수(심미) 요구 증대, 지역 경제성 제고, 환경(생태, 문화 등) 가치 증대 등 사회경제적 정책적 환경 변화가 기인한 부분이 크다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 측면에서 볼 때 하천의 지속가능하고 효과적인 관리와 보전을 위한 방안으로 하천의 역사 문화적 요소를 사회 경제적, 생태 환경적 요소와 연계하는 접근방식은 유용할 수 있다. 이를 위해서는 우선적으로 지역공동체가 형성해온 물 문화의 특수성을 감안하여 하천유역의 역사 문화적 소재 및 자원을 발굴할 필요가 있다. 그리고 조사 수집된 다양한 역사 문화적 소재 및 자원은 하천사업 및 관리의 주요 콘텐츠로 활용되기 위한 창출과정을 진행함으로써 사회 경제적, 생태 환경적 요소와 연계할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 하천유역을 대상으로 문헌조사 기반의 사전조사와 심도 있는 현장조사(탐문조사 등) 수행결과를 토대로 향후 하천복원사업에 활용될 수 있는 다양한 역사 문화적 소재와 자원 등에 관한 콘텐츠를 도출하였다. 또한 콘텐츠 활용방안은 하천 역사 문화 자원의 세부적인 콘텐츠를 아우를 수 있는 테마설정을 통하여 대상지 및 지역특성(치수 안전, 지역요구, 물 문화 가치 등) 등을 고려한 방안을 제시하였다. 특히, 친수 측면에서 현재 수변공간을 이용하는 방문자수, 목적(산책, 스포츠, 낚시, 물놀이, 레저 등) 등에 대한 패턴과 지역 인구 현황, 접근 인프라(교통, 이동로, 편의시설 등), 주민 요구도 등 잠재적 친수도는 물 문화 형성이라는 측면에서 볼 때 주요한 고려사항이라 할 수 있다.
