  • The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships among Social maturity(SM), Self-directed learning(SDL) and Self-concept of professional nursing(SCPN), and influencing factors of SCPN of nursing students. The survey was performed on 221 nursing students in two universities. Data were collected using a structured questionnaires and analysed with PASW 22.0. Study findings revealed that SCPN has a significant correlation with SM and SDL. Major satisfaction(${\beta}=.179$), Meaning on nursing(${\beta}=.274$), SM(${\beta}=.118$) and SDL(${\beta}=.211$) about SCPN were significant predictive variables. This variables accounted for 34.4% of the variance in SCPN. The findings indicate the necessity of developing educational programs to enhance nursing students's SM and SDL for increasing positive SCPN.

  • This study examines the relationships among ego resilience, empathic ability, and interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students. Data were collected through a self-reported questionnaire from November 2 to December 11, 2015. The subjects consisted of 299 nursing students who were selected using a convenience sampling method. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that ego resilience (${\beta}=.488$, p<.001) and empathic ability (${\beta}=.378$, p<.001) were significant predictors and accounted for 47.2% of interpersonal relationship ability. It is meaningful that ego resilience affects interpersonal relationship ability. Therefore, ego resilience and empathic ability need to be increased by efficient management and intervention to facilitate interpersonal relationship ability in nursing students.

The survey was conducted on students attending universities and graduate schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and the analysis was conducted using the SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0 statistical program. The main results are as follows. First, the participation frequency, class satisfaction and teacher satisfaction among the factors involved in education programs to support foreign students were found to have a significant effect on ego-resilience. Second, the ego-resilience of foreign students is found to have a significant effect on Korean society adaptation. Third, among the factors involved in education programs to support foreign students, only the participation period factors have a significant effect on social adaptation. Fourth, there was a mediating effect of ego-resilience in the relationship between participation factors and social adaptation of foreign students. This means that the frequency of participation in education programs, satisfaction in class, and teacher satisfaction were found to have a positive effect on adaptation to Korean society through the ego-resilience.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the BeHaS program on physical factors and self-esteem of the elderly women in a senior center. In this study, the BeHaS program for the elderly who had one or more risk factors for metabolic syndrome was conducted for 8 weeks, once a week, 1.5 hours a day. Data collection was measured 3 times at 8-week intervals. Physical factors were measured 3 times (Pretest1, Pretest2, posttest) and self-esteem were measured 2 times (Pretest2, posttest). Physical factors were analyzed using Repeated Measured ANOVA, and, self-esteem was analyzed using paired t-test. As the result of this study, it was confirmed that the BeHaS program is effective in managing obesity and blood glucose, reducing cholesterol, and improving self-esteem. Therefore, it is suggested that additional research is needed to improve the community health with metabolic syndrome.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of high school students' academic problems such as academic stress and low academic achievement on suicidal ideation and the mediating effects of individual-level risk factors (e.g., depression, aggression) and protective factors (self-esteem, emotion regulation) on the relationship between academic problems and suicidal ideation. This study used data of three waves(2005-2007) from the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). The analyses were conducted on 2,093 academic high school students, who participated in this panel study. The results from structural equation modeling show that academic stress has positive effects on depression and aggression, but negative effect on self-esteem. Low academic achievement has positive effect on aggression but negative effect on self-esteem. Depression and aggression as individual-level risk factors have positive effects on suicidal ideation. In contrast, self-esteem and emotion regulation as individual-level protective factors have negative effects on suicidal ideation. The relationship between academic problems and suicidal ideation is mediated by depression, aggression, and self-esteem. Based on the study findings, practice implications for youth welfare are discussed to screen high-risk youths and to prevent adolescent suicide in advance.

Self-esteem was classified into isolation, achievement, relation, and daunted. Second, regression analysis indicated that there was obvious relationship between self-esteem and the differentiation of self. Third, cluster analysis showed that 37.6% of children belonged to cluster 2 with achievement and relation patterns and self-oriented differentiation.
