A Study on the Development of High Permeability and Low Coercivity Ni-Zn Ferrite (고투자율, 저보자력을 갖는 Ni-Zn Ferrite의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The effects of the various raw material composition and sintered temperature on the physical properties of Ni-Zn ferrite have been investigated. They turned out to be spinel structure by X-ray diffraction and the size of grain from microscope was from 6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 16 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As the sintering temperature was increased from 1030 $^{\circ}C$ to 1070 $^{\circ}C$, the initial permeability and magnetic induction has increased and the both of Q factor and coercive force has decreased. The coercive force and curie temperature were almost the same at each specimen. Their values were about 0.20 Oe and 220 $^{\circ}C$. The frequency of specimen will used in the range from 400 kHz to 20 MHz. The basic composition of $Ni_{0.14}Zn_{0.64}Cu_{0.22}Fe_2O_4$ (specimen B) sintered at 1050 $^{\circ}C$ shows the best results at magnetic induction($B_r & B_m$).

Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe-Co-Cu-Nb-Si-B Alloys (Fe-Co-Cu-Nb-Si-B 초미세결정합금의 자기적 특성연구)

  • The magnetic properties of the amorphous $Fe_{73.5-X}Co_{X}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}Si_{13.5}B_{9}(x=2,\;4)$ alloys, fabricated by a single roll rapid quenching technique and annealed at $400~650^{\circ}C$, have been investigated. The optimum annealing temperature is $550^{\circ}C$ for the amorphous $Fe_{71.5}Co_{2}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}Si_{13.5}B_{9}$ alloy. The properties of the nanocrystalline $Fe_{71.5}Co_{2}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}Si_{13.5}B_{9}$ alloy show the relative permeability of $1.1{\times}10^{4}$ and the coercive force of 0.22 Oe at 1 kHz. When annealed at $600^{\circ}C$, the nanocrystalline $Fe_{69.5}Co_{4}Cu_{1}Nb_{3}Si_{13.5)B_{9}$ alloy shows the relative permeability of $1.0{\times}10^{4}$ and the coercive force of 0.19 Oe at 1 kHz. From the X-ray measurement, it is found that the remarkably improved soft magnetic properties are the effect of the formation of $\alpha$-Fe(Si) grain. By the results of FMR exper-imeIlt, the optimum annealing condition is just below temperature which the peak-to-peak line width of FMR spectrum increase rapidly.

  • Ultra-fine $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$ $O_4$ferrite powders have been prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The formation of nano crystallized particles is confirmed. The x-ray diffractions of all samples with various compositions clearly indicate the presence of spinel structure. The Mossbauer spectra could be fitted as the superposition of two sextets due to F $e^{3+}$ A-site and B-site. The IS and QS values nearly constant with substituted Co-Ti contents, whereas $H_{hf}$ of B-site decreases with increasing Co-Ti substitution in $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$ $O_4$. The magnetic behaviour of powders shows that the saturation magnetization and the coercivity decrease with increasing x in $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$ $O_4$.$.X>.

Mössbauer Study of Al0.2CoFe1.8O4 Ferrite Powders (Mössbauer 분광법에 의한 Al0.2CoFe1.8O4분말의 자기적 특성 연구)

  • The $Al_{0.2}$CoF $e_{1.8}$ $O_4$ferrite powders have been prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample depending on annealing temperature have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, FE SEM, Mossbauer spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The x-ray diffractions of all samples annealing temperature above 873 K clearly indicate the presence of spinel structure, the lattice constant decrease from 8.425 $\AA$ at 873 K to 8.321 $\AA$ at 1073 K, whereas the particle size rapidly increase from about 39 nm at 673 K to about 108 nm at 1073 K. The Mossbauer spectra annealed above 873 K could be fitted as the superposition of two sextets due to F $e^{3+}$ at A-site and B-site. The isomer shift (IS) and quadruple splitting (QS) values nearly constant with annealing temperature, whereas magnetic hyperfine field ( $H_{hf}$) of A-site slowly in crease and that of B-site fastly increases with increasing annealing temperature. The magnetic behaviour of powders shows that the saturation magnetization increase from 0.7 emu/g at 473 K to 72.1 emu/g at 1073 K while the coercivity decrease from 0.951 kOe at 673 K to 0.374 kOe at 1073 K with increasing annealing temperature.

Growth and Magnetic Properties of $Y_{3-x}La_xFe_5O_{12}(0.0{\le}X{\le}1.0)$ Powders and Thin Films by a Sol-Gel Method (Sol-Gel 법에 의한 $Y_{3-x}La_xFe_5O_{12}(0.0{\le}X{\le}1.0)$ 분말과 박막의 합성 및 자기적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • $Y_{3-x}La_xFe_5O_{12}$ (x=0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) powders and thin films were fabricated by a sol-gel method and their magnetic properties and crystal structure were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and Mossbauer spectroscopy. XRD and Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements show that garnet powders annealed at 900 $^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours were single-phased and that thin films fired at 800 $^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours were crystallized without any preferred direction. X-ray diffraction patterns of $Y_{3-x}La_xFe_5O_{12}$ powders annealed at 1000 $^{\circ}C$ had only peaks of the garnet structure in case of x$\leq$0.75 but those of $Y_2LaFe_5O_{12}$ powders consisted of peaks from garnets and $LaFeO_3$. Mossbauer sepectra of garnet powders grown by the sol-gel method had a similar shape of those of powders grown by a conventional ceramic method. Grain sizes of garnet powders were 200~300 nm and the averaged surface roughness was 3.17 nm. Results of VSM measurements show the powders and thin films had soft magnetic properties and that the garnet powders had the largest saturation magnetization, 30 emu/g, and the lowest coercivity, 52 Oe.

  • There would be a long-waited launch of a Korean space launch vehicle(KSLV-I) in NARO Space Center which is located in Goheung, Jeol La Nam Do in Korea. Korea would be the nineth country in the world which could launch space launch vehicle itself. The launch of the 2nd technology satellite of 100kg with KSLV-I would give Korean hope and dream. In addition to the traditional space activities of U.S.A. and Russia, Japan launched the lunar satellite, Kaguya in 2007, China launched the lunar satellite, Change and succeeded in space walk and India launched the lunar satellite Chandrayaan in October, 2008. In this paper we study on the trend of domestic and international development of space launch vehicle considering all these space development activities.

  • One of the purposes of space exploration is to be able to utilize the unlimited natural resources in the universe. For this purpose, plans for lunar and mars bases have been proposed by leading nations. In order to construct bases and search for resources, it is necessary to employ and develop rovers for surface navigation and exploration. With proper knowledge about Lunar surface, technology for lunar rover development can be established without serious obstacles, since robot technology for rover development has been well prepared in Korea. In this paper, lunar rovers and mars rovers developed and planned by other countries as well as the current status of robot technology in Korea have been analyzed.

Analysis of 766 keV Gamma Peak from NPP Environmental Samples (원전주변 환경시료의 766 keV 감마선에너지 피크에 대한 해석)

  • Gamma spectral results for macroalgae samples taken from the environment of Ulchin nuclear power plants in Korea (east coast), showed 766 keV peaks, which were identified as $^{95}Nb$ by several research institutes. After the enhancement of liquid radioactive waste disposal facility at Ulchin NPP site, the $^{95}Nb$ amount in the liquid radioactive waste outflow has drastically reduced, but the expected reduction in $^{95}Nb$ specific activity from environmental samples did not actually show up on gamma spectroscopy. Detailed re-investigation revealed that along with 766 keV peak, other peaks (63, 92 and 1001 keV) from $^{234}Th-^{234}mPa$ decay series were also detected on spectroscopy, and that the measured half lives of the four peaks were very close to known half life of $^{234}Th-^{234}mPa$ decay series, which is 24.1 day. The measured gamma yield ratios of 766 keV peak to 1001 peak were very close to known ratio 0.35 for $^{234}mPa$. It is concluded that 766 keV peaks on gamma spectroscopy of Ulchin NPP environmental samples were mainly from $^{234}mPa$, which is one of naturally occurring radionuclides.

  • Dmitri Donskoi, which went down during the Russo-Japanese War occurred 100 years ago, was found by using geophysical exploration techniques at the 400 m water depth of submarine valley off Jeodong of Ulleung Island. In the submarine area with the rugged seabed topography and volcanic seamounts, in particular, the reliable seabed images were acquired by using the mid-to-shallow Multibeam exploration technique The strength of corrosion (causticity) of the sunken Donskoi, measured by the electrochemical method, decreased to 2/5 compared with the original strength.

The Effect of $Bi_2$$O_3$Addition on the Microstructure and Magnetic Properties of YIG Prepared by RSP(Reaction Sintering Process) (반응소결공정으로 제조된 YIG의 미세구조 및 자기특성에 대한 $Bi_2$$O_3$첨가 영향)

  • 반응소결공정(RSP : Reaction Sintering Process)을 이용하여 YF댸₃와 Fe₂O₃의 성분에 소결첨가재 Bi₂O₃를 첨가하여 YIG를 합성하였다. Bi₂O₃첨가량과 소결온도에 따른 YIG 소결체의 미세구조 및 자기적 특성변화에 대해 주사전자현미경, X-선 회절분석기 및 시료 진동형 자력계를 이용하여 조사하였다. 소량의 소결첨가재 Bi₂O₃첨가시 YIG 소결체의 격자상수는 12.387에서 12.420 Å으로 증가하였다. 이는 상대적으로 이온반경이 큰 Bi 이온이 12면체 Y 이온 자리로 치환되었기 때문인 것으로 여겨진다. Bi₂O₃를 1.0 wt% 첨가하였을 때 비교적 균질한 미세구조를 보였으며, 1350℃에서 소결한 YIG의 밀도가 이론밀도의 98% 이상의 치밀화를 보였다. Bi₂O₃가 0.0 wt%에서 1.5 wt%로 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 상온에서의 포화자화값(M/sub s/)은 조금씩 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 큰 변화는 없었다. 반응소결공정을 이용 YIG 소결시 소결첨가제 Bi₂O₃가 1.0 wt%이고, 소결온도 1350℃에서 비교적 우수한 소결특성과 자기특성을 가지는 YIG 소결체를 얻을 수 있었다.
