A Study on the Selection of key Enabling Technologies for Automation of Real-time Ground Shape Recognition and Soil Volume Estimation (실시간 지반형상 인식 및 토공량 자동 산출을 위한 요소기술 선정방안에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, automated construction machines have been developed for technically solving construction industry problems such as labor, productivity, quality and the profit decrease. In domestic construction industry, a research for developing an intelligent excavation robot has been performed. The primary objective of this research is to analysis state-of-the art technologies in order to recognize local ground shape in real-time and compute soil volume of earth moving. This research analyzed five elemental technologies for 3D modeling of local ground shape and selected an optimal technology among the five technologies through using AHP method. It is anticipated that the optimal technology selected for 3D modeling of local ground shape can be effectively used to develop the intelligent excavation robot.

  • Domestic construction industry has faced with many problems in productivity, quality, safety and skilled-labor availability because of the national economic depression, insufficient supply of skilled labors and so on. There is a growing need for improving productivity and quality, and savings in cost. In the case of advanced countries, they have made a number of research efforts to solve these problems with construction automation and robotics. Recently, there are growing interests in construction automation and robotics but such interests have not been further increased due to the difficulties in gathering or accessing valuable information on the research and development of construction automation and robotics. The main purpose of this study is to provide a web-based research database and decision support system for an effective research and development of automated construction system and robots. It is expected that this system would be able to provide a framework for the successful research, development and implementation of the construction automation and robotics in domestic construction industry

Robust 1D inversion of large towed geo-electric array datasets used for hydrogeological studies (수리지질학 연구에 이용되는 대규모 끄는 방식 전기비저항 배열 자료의 1 차원 강력한 역산)

  • The advent of towed geo-electrical array surveying on water and land has resulted in datasets of magnitude approaching that of airborne electromagnetic surveying and most suited to 1D inversion. Robustness and complete automation is essential if processing and reliable interpretation of such data is to be viable. Sharp boundaries such as river beds and the top of saline aquifers must be resolved so use of smoothness constraints must be minimised. Suitable inversion algorithms must intelligently handle low signal-to-noise ratio data if conductive basement, that attenuates signal, is not to be misrepresented. A noise-level aware inversion algorithm that operates with one elastic thickness layer per electrode configuration has been coded. The noise-level aware inversion identifies if conductive basement has attenuated signal levels so that they are below noise level, and models conductive basement where appropriate. Layers in the initial models are distributed to span the effective depths of each of the geo-electric array quadrupoles. The algorithm works optimally on data collected using geo-electric arrays with an approximately exponential distribution of quadrupole effective depths. Inversion of data from arrays with linear electrodes, used to reduce contact resistance, and capacitive-line antennae is plausible. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the algorithm using theoretical examples and an example from a salt interception scheme on the Murray River, Australia.

Comparison for the Optimal Pressure between Manual CPAP and APAP Titration with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Patients (한국인 폐쇄성 수면 무호흡 환자의 적정 양압을 위한 수동화 양압 측정법과 자동화 양압 측정법의 비교)

  • Although auto-adjusting positive airway pressure (APAP) titration at home has several advantages over a CPAP titration in terms of convenience and time saving, there are still concerns as to whether it will show corresponding accuracy when compared to laboratory-based polysomnography (PSG) and CPAP titration. To obtain more evidence supporting home-based auto-titration, APAP titration was performed at home for patients who were presented with OSA on laboratory-based diagnostic PSG followed by CPAP titration. A total of 79 patients were included in the study. They all underwent split-night PSG with CPAP titration, and APAP titration for more than 7 days. The patients with successful titration at both situations were selected. The optimal pressure and apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of CPAP and APAP titration were compared. The optimal pressure for CPAP and APAP titration were $7.0{\pm}1.8cmH_2O$ and $7.6{\pm}1.6cmH_2O$ (P<0.001), whereas the corresponding AHI were $1.3{\pm}1.5/h$ and $3.0{\pm}1.7/h$ (P<0.001). As a result, the achievement rates of optimal pressure for CPAP and APAP titration were 96.2% and 94.9% (r=-0.045, P=0.688), respectively. The results of this study did not differ with regard to the optimal pressure between CPAP and APAP titration. Overall, CPAP and APAP titrations should be chosen depending on a required situation.
