A Study on Planning Car Interior Design through Two Dimensional Lay-Out (2D LAY-OUT을 통한 자동차 실내디자인 계획 방법 연구)

  • As late as middle of 1980s, what was referred to as new model cars consisted, on the premise of a standardized packaging layout, principally of the endeavor to transform their style images by changing little by little the form of layouts almosts similar to or with larger bodies than those of the old model ones. Afterwards even in the period of competition of engeineering and mechanical body styles for reducing fuel cost and improving comfortability in riding, the standardized packaging layout did not change visibly, simply trying to ameliorating commercialism through high output and high efficacy on the engineering part. Today the sudden prevalent motorization in every walk of life has brought about the development of the car industry, thus producing surplus supply and technical standardization. This phenomenon of technical standardization leads the concept of the renovation of car design to a way quite different from that of the past and so may be said to be confronted with an era that requires genuine-sense car design in a way. It seems that interior design plans are of much more importance than external shapes. This is because the effort for enhancing comfortability to keep car passengers' needs of transportation is one of the essences of car design. The objective of this study consists in inquiring into how to plan motorcar interior design, an essential prerequisite in determining the external or of a car, obtaining data needed via analysis of interior design plans of the car models that have won favorable criticism from consumers, thus contributing to the use of the data obtained for reference in car design activities in a genuine sense.

  • The era of fully autonomous vehicles which can travel to their destination completely, is expected to arrive in the near future. The automobile industry will face a huge change in the near future. It makes the industry in the midst of a major turning point, since the automobile was born in the late 1800s. It is expected that the fully autonomous vehicle will be defined as a part of a living space beyond the concept of transportation. However, the existing research on the interior design of the fully autonomous vehicle is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to propose a design method of interior space through analyzing in-vehicle activities, which is a fundamental design element that can satisfy user's emotional experience suitable the concept of living space. For this purpose, the consumer's consciousness about the in-vehicle activity of fully autonomous vehicle was investigated. As a result, domestic consumers perceived the needs of in-vehicle activities related to resting, listening and watching activities such as 'sleeping and resting', 'watching TV and movie', 'listening to music' among 'self - centered' activities. Based on the results of the investigation, this study will suggest a design method of interior design of the fully autonomous vehicle. This study is meaningful, because it is a leading research that suggests new ways of designing interior space by analyzing consumer's needs in a quantitative method.

  • 자동차/선박/정보통신기기 등의 각종 제조 산업 분야에서 신제품 개발기간과 비용단축을 위해 제품의 설계/스타일링 단계에서 디자인 및 사용자 사용성/편이성 등에 대해 가상으로 품평하는 기술에 대한 관심이 날로 증가하고 있다. 이상적인 가상 품평 기술은 사용자가 실물에 대한 품평 상황과 동일한 체험을 얻을 수 있도록 해야 한다. 이를 위해서 품평 대상물을 사실적으로 표현할 수 있도록 하는 실사 수준의 고품질 가시화 기술과 사용자가 품평 대상물을 자연스럽게 조작할 수 있는 상호작용 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구는 자동차의 내 외관 디자인 품평을 위한 가상 디자인 품평 시스템의 개발에 관한 것으로, 사실적인 자동차 가시화를 위한 환경 반사, 빛 산란, 범프 매핑등의 고품질 쉐이더 구현 및 저작 기술, 몰입환경에서 품평 작업을 위한 3D GUI 지원, 자동차 각 부품의 사용성/편이성 평가를 위한 운동성 조작 기능, 멀티프로젝션 디스플레이 시스템 및 3 차원 인간 모델, 장갑형 입력장치 지원을 통한 몰입형 가상 품평 환경 구축에 관한 기술 및 구현 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • On the design or development of auto-vehicle, customer's images are strongly related to buying vehicles. I is importantly considered to review detailed specific properties of them. Product design includes functional quality, and aesthetics factors. among these, such as color sense, material of sense, and shape sense, the image of design feeling aesthetics has largely effect on the selling of products. From this point of view, it is not too much to say that the successful development of product is how design of it. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sensibility of human needs, and apply it to the design of MEVs (Mini Electronic Vehicles).

  • With the continuous development of automobile design industry, fastback design style has become the main popular trend of automobile appearance design, and it has an important impact on the future automobile appearance design. This study summarizes the basic rules and characteristics of the design style base don combing, analyzing and verifying the data of the fastback design style. It provides the necessary basic research for the better application of the fastback design style in the future automobile design. Firstly, through the literature research method to sort out and analyze the de finition, origin and history of fastback design style. Secondly, through the comparative study, the author compares and analyzes the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the fastback design style and the step back design style. Thirdly, through case analysis, it studies the classification and characteristics of fastback design style. Finally, this paper summarizes the influence of the fastback design style on the future automobile appearance design, and the specific design methods. Forecasts the development trend of fastback design style in the field of automobile exterior design in the future. Through this research, we sorted out the related historical development of fastback design and the characteristics and advantages of fastback design style (from the perspective of functionality, economy and aesthetics).The fastback design style has formed a more systematic research theory, which provides basic research materials for future fastback design research. In the next stage, this study will be further subdivided, focusing on the different design features of different automobile manufacturers which subdivide the fastback design style into different design features according to their own needs.

  • In the medieval age of Europe when the noble people of various regions enjoyed unique cultures and life styles where made by coachbuilders. Such coaches would later affect the styles of the earlier automobiles equipped with the driving engine. Later, as the gasolines engines began to be distributed, the automobiles could afford to be flexible in terms of size and weight, while their performances and designs began to be enhanced rapidly. The important aspect of earlier automobile manufacturing was the phased development of styling which represented the pure approach to functions as well as the historical background. It can be known that such a development of automobile styling reflected the concerned industrial advancement and social influences of each region. At this juncture of time when the massmotorized modern society's demands for automobiles are unlimited and diversified, this study was aimed at reviewing the fundamental implications of automobile designs over time.

  • Until the early part of the 1990s, interior design has never been thought important by car makers. Repeated attempts have been made to systemize a technical structure, such as layout, driving method, and size, and the car's interior design has been developed by in simple comparison with the exterior design. In the 1990s, however, this trend began to change because consumers began spending more time in their cars, so the motive of the technology development became that of giving comfort and functional satisfaction to the customers. Observing how a person spends inside his or her car and considering the latest trends in car interiors have made a consumer-oriented sense of value i.e., intensifying the personality of the car's interior design and considering the emotional makeup of the consumer factor in the acquisition of a strategic brand identity. These days, car interiors assume a new concept every year due to the constant change in various factors, and the application of a high-tech design, with a sensing function and a navigation system, to achieve driverless running, is being raised as a key trend element technology for the future. Now, at the present when multilateral concept applications of design are attempted under the direct influences from other fields such as product design, fashion and furniture, I would like to lay stress on investigating and analysing the changes in car interior design varying with the background of the times and formative characteristics from the object point of view. On this study, I would like to compare the background of the times and flow of car interior design with priority given to crash pad and would like to attempt to present the direction of the future car interior design together with diversifying major technical factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out latent needs of users through the difference of information inflow between design major and engineering major reflecting car lifestyle and to complement them. Although those two relationship deepens due to the development of industrialization, collaboration is still a difficult situation. To find out lifestyle of between those two majors, experiments were carried out quantitatively by conducting in-depth interviews and additionally survey were conducted concurrently. The results showd clearly difference in meaning and value of the automobile. This phenomenon is related to identity. The designers expressed themselves by car, and others differed by using their cars as a means of mobility.

  • Virtual Engineering은 가상현실 기술이 산업계에 적용되고 있는 대표적인 활용 분야이다. 본 글에서는 Virtual Engineering 기술을 소개하고 가상현실 시장 동향을 정리한다. 그리고, 관련 산업계의 대표적인 기술 수요 사례인 “자동차 디자인 가상 품평” 시스템의 구축을 중심으로 가상 디자인 품평 기술의 현황을 정리한다. 이상적인 가상현실품평 시스템은 사용자가 현업에서의 품평 상황과 동일한 체험을 얻을 수 있도록 지원해야 하는데, 이를 위한 핵심 기술로 실사 수준의 고품질 영상 출력을 위한 고해상도 몰입형 가시화 기술과, 사용자가 가상 자동차 사이를 자연스럽게 조작하는 상호작용지원 기술을 소개한다. 끝으로, 현재 한국전자통신연구원 디지털 콘텐츠 연구단에서 개발하고 있는 “자동차 내관 디자인 가상 품평 시스템”을 대표적인 연구 사례로 소개한다.
