DME를 이용한 승용 디젤 커먼레일 엔진의 연소 및 배기특성 (Combustion and Emission Characteristics of Passenger Car Common-rail Diesel Engine with DME Fuel)

  • This paper described the effects of DME blended fuel on the engine combustion and emission characteristics of four cylinder CRDI diesel engine. Biodiesel was added into the DME fuel in order to improve the low kinematic viscosity of DME fuel. In this work, the experiment was performed under th various injection timings and injection strategy at constant engine speed and engine load. To maintain the fuel pressure and temperature, pressure and temperature controllers were installed to the DME fuel system. The results show that ignition delay was shortened and combustion duration was extended when DME blended fuel is supplied. Despite of slightly higher NOx emission with DME blended fuel at equal conditions in comparison with those of diesel fuel, the engine showed lower HC and CO emission characteristics.

  • In this study, the potential possibility of biodiesel fuel(BDF) and oxygenated fuel(ethylene glycolvmono-n-butyl ether; EGBE) was investigated as an effective method of decreasing the smoke emission. The smoke emission of blending fuel (BDF and EGBE 0~20 vol-%) was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel and it was reduced approximately 64% at 2000 rpm, full load in the 20% of blending rate. But torque and brake specific energy consumption( BSEC) didn't have no large differences. Also, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) for the reduction of NOx emission has been investigated. Consequently, It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with BDF(90 vol-%) and EGBE(10 vol-%) blended fuel and cooled EGR method(5~10%).

경량 연료전지 차체프레임 설계 프로세스 (Design Process of Light-weighted Fuel Cell Vehicle Body Frame)

  • This paper presents a design process of light-weighted fuel cell vehicle (FCV) frame to meet design target of natural frequency in early design stage. At first, using validated FE model for the current design, thickness optimization was carried out. Next. optimization process, comprised of beam model size optimization, shell model design and shell model thickness optimization, was investigated for two frame types. In addition, in order to ensure hydrogen tanks safety against rear impact load, structural collapse characteristics was estimated for the rear frame model finally produced from the previous optimization process and, with the target of equal collapse characteristics to the current design model, structural modification with small weight increase was studied through static structural collapse analyses. The same attempt was applied to the front side frame. The results explain that the proposed process enables to design light-weighted frames with high structural performance in early stage.

고분자전해질형 연료전지의 유로 채널 모사를 통한 단일 액적의 불안정성 관찰 (Investigation on the Liquid Water Droplet Instability in a Simulated Flow Channel of PEMFC)

  • To investigate the characteristics of water droplet on the gas diffusion layer from both top-view and side-view of the flow channel, a rig test apparatus was designed and fabricated with prism attached plate. This experimental device is used to simulate the growth of single liquid water droplet and its transport process with various air flow velocity and channel height. The contact angle hysteresis and height of water droplet are measured and analyzed. It is found that droplet tends towards to be instable by decreasing channel height, increasing flow velocity or making GDL more hydrophobic. Also, the simplified force balance model matches with experimental data only in a restricted range of operating conditions and shows discrepancy as the air flow velocity and channel height increases.

  • In recent years, it is very important that hydrogen storage system is safe for user in any circumstances in case of crash and fire. Because the hydrogen vehicle usually carry high pressurized cylinders, it is necessary to do safety design for fire. The Global Technical Regulation (GTR) has been enacted for localized and engulfing fire test. High pressure hydrogen storage system of fuel cell electrical vehicles are equipped with Thermal Pressure Relief Device (TPRD) installed in pressured tank cylinder to prevent the explosion of the tank during a fire. TPRDs are safety devices that perceive a fire and release gas in the pressure tank cylinder before it is exploded. In this paper, we observed the localized and engulfing behavior of tank safety, regarding the difference of size and types of the tanks in accordance with GTR.

  • The automatic inspection system is developed for the formed end part of automotive fuel pipe. The developed system has functions of outer diameter and formed end length measurement by LVDT(linear variable differential transformer) together with burr cleaning of automotive fuel pipe. The measured data are managed and controlled in real time by embedded SPC(statistical process control) program. The system is composed of mechanical part, electronic part and developed software system. These three parts operate automatically by mutual communication with each other. The developed system showed good results in finding inferior goods and efficiency improvement of the fuel pipe production line. It also eliminated the unreliable manual inspection processes and improved the confidence of product quality.

오스테나이트계 스테인레스강의 플라즈마 질화공정에 의한 내식성 평가에 대한 고찰

  • 최근 친환경 에너지원 및 에너지 저감기술을 바탕으로 한 자동차 부품산업이 재편되고 있다. 그 중, 극한의 산화전해질 환경에서 견뎌야하는 연료전지 분리막 소재와, 자동차 연비향상을 위한 엔진소재 개발 경쟁이 가열되는 상황이다. 이러한 소재에는 공통적으로 고 내식성과 내 마모성의 특성이 요구되는데, 스테인레스강은 이러한 조건에 적합한 소재이다. 왜냐하면, 사용분위기에 의해 산화막이 두꺼워지고 이로 인해 저항이 증가하는 현상 때문에 연료전지 부품에 질화를 하여 이런한 현상이 일어나지 않으면서 내식성은 유지하기 때문이다. 하지만, 표면경도가 낮아 내 마모성 저하로 부품의 수명을 떨어뜨리는 단점이 있다. 따라서, 고 내식성 유지하되, 표면경도는 향상하는 기술이 필요한데, S-phase 과고용 질화기술은 이러한 문제를 해결할 것으로 보여진다. 하지만, 이러한 층의 형성에도 불구하고, 스테인레스강 자체 소재제작 과정에서의 품질문제 및 가공경화로 인한 문제와 더불어 질화처리 후 표면계질의 석출상이나 크랙형성으로 인해 내식성은 오히려 저감되는 문제를 지니고 있다. 이에 대한 대안으로, 표면 질화처리 후 침탄 공정을 추가 도입하였다. 따라서, 본 연구 에서는 기존 질화공정에서 내식성 저하원인에 대한 분석 및 고찰하고, 또한 새롭게 제안된 질화 침탄 기술을 통해 질소뿐만 아니라 탄소원자의 침입으로 내식성 저하를 방지하는 동시에 표면경도 향상하는 새로운 연구결과를 보여주고자 한다.

유럽 CO2 감축법에 따른 차량 CO2 감축 기술 전략에 관한 연구 - 보기류 개선을 중심으로 - (Study on the Strategy of CO2 Reduction Technology in Vehicle according to CO2 Emissions Regulation in EU - Focusing on Auxiliary Energy Improvement -)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to suggest opportunities for reducing $CO_2$ emission in energy conversion of a vehicle, focused on auxiliary energy improvement in the automotive field. As part of worldwide efforts to curb global warming and to protect the domestic industry as trade barriers, many countries have set goals to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. As an example, new $CO_2$ emission regulation in EU was expected to go into effect strictly in 2020. Therefore, global car-makers need to establish strategic responsiveness of the regulations. This paper shows $CO_2$ economic value by using the correct interpretation of the relevant laws and regulations. The $CO_2$ value analyzed using quantitative figures leads to the possibility of auxiliary(accessories, HVAC, electric apparatus etc.) technology for improving fuel economy. As a result, this study generalizes the meaning of electric power saving for each driving mode by auxiliary energy improvement.

  • Currently, BLDC fuel pump was applied on LPi vehicle using 3rd fuel supply system as liquified phase LPG injection method had already shown better performance than others. Its cost, however, is rather expensive because of drawbacks such as complicated structure, a fault of localization of system. In this work, demonstration system for a developed turbine type fuel pump to replace BLDC system was setup and investigated. This study results that fuel mass flow rate of turbine type pump and injection performance of injector were better compared to BLDC type. Comparing flow rate of summer LPG with that of winter LPG, the flow rate decreased about 25% using winter LPG. Performance applying turbine type LPi fuel pump to engine is confirmed.

함산소연료(Diglyme, DEE)와 EGR 방법을 이용한 간접분사식 디젤기관의 배기가스 배출 특성 (The Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions by using Oxygenated Fuels and EGR in IDI Diesel Engine)

  • The diesel engine is one of the most effective transport options available in all sizes and covering a wide range of applications. But, many researchers developing the diesel engine are facing tough challenges in view of the increasingly lower emissions standards. Thus, this study will explore the possible fuel additive technology to further reduce the emissions from the IDI diesel engine. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of oxygenated fuels on the exhaust emissions and to attain a better trade-off relation between smoke and NOx in four cylinder diesel engine. Experiments were conducted with oxygenated fuels as an effective way to improve the combustion efficiency. Some of oxygenated fuel(Diglyme and DEE) were added to the conventional diesel fuel which had no an oxygen content. Also, EGR was adopted for reducing NOx without any strong adverse effects on other exhaust emissions. This study concluded that exhaust emissions in diesel engine could be reduced by adding the oxygenated fuels which had lower boiling point, and the combustion efficiency was also improved as the oxygen content in fuel increased.
