As remote sensing imagery with high spatial resolution (e.g. pixel resolution of 1m or less) is used widely in the specific application domains, the requirements of advanced methods for this imagery are increasing. Among many applicable methods, the texture image analysis, which was characterized by the spatial distribution of the gray levels in a neighborhood, can be regarded as one useful method. In the texture image, we compared and analyzed different results according to various directions, kernel sizes, and parameter types for the GLCM algorithm. Then, we studied spatial feature characteristics within each result image. In addition, a template matching program which can search spatial patterns using template images selected from original and texture images was also embodied and applied. Probabilities were examined on the basis of the results. These results would anticipate effective applications for detecting and analyzing specific shaped geological or other complex features using high spatial resolution imagery.

The trajectories of feature points can be defined by the correspondences between points in consecutive frames. The correspondence problem is known to be difficult to solve because false positives and false negatives almost always exist in real image sequences. In this paper, we propose a robust feature tracking algorithm considering incomplete trajectories such as entering and/or vanishing trajectories. The trajectories of feature points are determined by calculating the matching measure, which is defined as the minimum weighted Euclidean distance between two feature points. The weights are automatically updated in order to properly reflect the motion characteristics. We solve the correspondence problem as an optimal graph search problem, considering that the existence of false feature points may have serious effect on the correspondence search. The proposed algorithm finds a local optimal correspondence so that the effect of false feature point can be minimized in the decision process. The time complexity of the proposed graph search algorithm is given by O(mn) in the best case and O($m^2n$) in the worst case, where m and n arc the number of feature points in two consecutive frames. By considering false feature points and by properly reflecting motion characteristics, the proposed algorithm can find trajectories correctly and robustly, which has been shown by experimental results.
It is sometimes necessary to remove the captions and recover original images from video images already broadcast, When the number of images requiring such recovery is small, manual processing is possible, but as the number grows it would be very difficult to do it manually. Therefore, a method for recovering original image for the caption areas in needed. Traditional research on image restoration has focused on restoring blurred images to sharp images using frequency filtering or video coding for transferring video images. This paper proposes a method for automatically recovering original image using BMA(Block Matching Algorithm). We extract information on caption regions and scene change that is used as a prior-knowledge for recovering original image. From the result of caption information detection, we know the start and end frames of captions in video and the character areas in the caption regions. The direction for the recovery is decided using information on the scene change and caption region(the start and end frame for captions). According to the direction, we recover the original image by performing block matching for character components in extracted caption region. Experimental results show that the case of stationary images with little camera or object motion is well recovered. We see that the case of images with motion in complex background is also recovered.
We introduce a novel scheme to characterize and index events in TV golf programs using MPEG-7 descriptors. Our goal is to identify and localize the golf events of interest to facilitate highlight-based video indexing and summarization. In particular, we analyze multiple (low-level) visual features using domain-specific model to create a perceptual relation for semantically meaningful(high-level) event identification. Furthermore, we summarize a TV golf program with TV-Anytime segmentation metadata, a standard form of an XML-based metadata description, in which the golf events are represented by temporally localized segments and segment groups of highlights. Experimental results show that our proposed technique provides reasonable performance for identifying a variety of golf events.
In this paper, we examine work in the evolution of content-based retrieval systems that rely on an intelligent infrastructure. Here, we refer to intelligence as the capabilities of the systems to build and maintain situational or world models, utilize dynamic knowledge representations, exploit context and overage advanced reasoning and learning capabilities. We argue that these elements are essential to producing effective systems for retrieving visual information at semantic levels matching those of human perception and cognition. In this paper, we review relevant research on the understanding of human intelligence and construction of intelligent systems in the fields of cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, semiotics. We also discuss how some of the principal ideas from these fields lead to new opportunities and capabilities for content-based retrieval systems. Finally, we discribe some of our efforts in these directions. In particular, we present MediaNet, a multimedia knowledge presentation framework that facilitate and enable intelligent content-based retrieval.
The recognition of current position and road surrounding of car is very important to driver for safe driving. This paper presents the recognition technique of the road traveling environment using position information hiding and viewpoint transform that monitors the information of road furniture and signature and notifies them to driver. The proposed scheme generates the road images into which the position information are hided, from car camera and GPS module and provides the road information to driver through the viewpoint transformation and the road signature detection. The driving tests with camera and GPS module verified that the position information hiding takes about 66.5ms per frame, the detection rate of road signature is about 95.83%, and the road signature detection takes about 227.45ms per frame. Therefore, we know that the proposed scheme can recognize the road traveling environment on the road video with 15 frame rate.

This paper presents the design of alert message and message segmentation method for the Terrestrial DMB Automatic Emergency Alert Service Standard. This paper begins with the introduction of the standard and some background. The alert message contains the essential information of the alert. Structured information is represented as coded fields and the unstructured as short sentences. Design factors of each field are analyzed first. Next each field’s semantics and syntax are described. The message segmentation method is presented next. The previous study selected FIDC as the message delivery channel. However, in most cases, the size of the alert message exceeds the maximum size of FIG, which is the basic unit packet for the channel. The current T-DMB standard does not support the segmentation method for FIDC. To solve the problem, this paper proposes an elegant segmentation method that garantees reliable, flexible, and fast receiver characteristic. This paper concludes with some additional tasks that should be resolved before the full-time alert service.

Biometrics-based user authentication has several advantages over traditional password-based systems for standalone authentication applications. This is also true for new authentication architectures known as crypto-biometric systems, where cryptography and biometrics are merged to achieve high security and user convenience at the same time. Recently, a cryptographic construct, called fuzzy vault, has been proposed for crypto-biometric systems. This construct aims to secure critical data(e.g., secret key) with the fingerprint data in a way that only the authorized user can access the secret by providing the valid fingerprint, and some implementations results for fingerprint have been reported. However, the previous results had some limitation of the provided security due to the limited numbers of chaff data fer hiding real fingerprint data. In this paper, we propose an approach to provide both the automatic alignment of fingerprint data and higher security by using a 3D geometric hash table. Based on the experimental results, we confirm that the proposed approach of using the 3D geometric hash table with the idea of the fuzzy vault can perform the fingerprint verification securely even with more chaff data included.
This paper proposes a method of automatically generating a model through a machine learning technique by setting a hypothetical model in the form of a gray box or black box with unknown parameters, when the big data of the actual system is given. We implements the proposed framework and conducts experiments to find an appropriate model among various hypothesis models and compares the cost and fitness of them. As a result we find that the proposed framework works well with continuous systems that could be modeled with ordinary differential equation. This technique is expected to be used well for the purpose of automatically updating the consistency of the digital twin model or predicting the output for new inputs using recently generated big data.
