MPEG-21 DIA Testbed for Stereoscopic Digital Item Adaptation (입체 디지털 아이템의 MPEG-21 DIA 테스트베드)

  • MPEG-21의 주요 요소 중 하나인 Digital Item Adaptation(DIA)은 사용자 선호도(User Preferences) 및 터미널 능력(Terminal Capabilities)에 따라 적응 변환된 디지털 아이템(digital item)을 제공한다. 본 논문은 MPEG-21 프레임워크에서 입체 영상 디지털 아이템의 적응을 구현하는 DIA 테스트베드의 구현을 목적으로 한다. 사용자 선호도에는 입체시차 종류, 깊이 범위, 지연 영상 간격 등이 있다. 터미널 능력으로는 코덱, 입체 랜더링 포맷, 디스플레이 타입 등이 있다. 상기 기술자들은 DIA 서버로 전송되어 적응된 입체영상이 생성되머, 또한 변환된 입체영상 DI는 사용자의 요구에 따라 MPEG-2 또는 MPEG-4로 엔코딩되어 전송된다. 클라이언트는 DIA 서버에서 전송되는 입체영상 DI를 받아 디코딩 한 후 디스플레이 하게 된다. 서버의 DIA는 입체 DI의 실시간 전송을 위하여 RTP와 RTSP를 사용하여 전송한다.

Movie Factors Affecting Satisfaction of 3D Stereoscopic Movie Audiences (3D입체영화관객의 만족에 영향을 미치는 영화적 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine factors that affect 3D stereoscopic movie audiences' satisfaction in Korea, and to provide strategic solutions to improve audiences' satisfaction. According to study about movie audiences' satisfaction, factors that affect movie audiences' satisfaction are separated to movie internal factors, movie environmental factors and movie audience factors. And leverage of movie internal factors is bigger than either. But 3D stereoscopic movie is different from ordinary movie in shooting, screening, seeing and recognizing method. So it is expected that movie environmental factors and audience factors' influence is bigger than internal factors. So this study carried out a survey targeting 3D stereoscopic audiences. Main result of this study are shown as follows. First, the method to reduce visual fatigue is necessary for satisfaction. Second, it is required that improvement method of seat arrangement to provide high quality 3D stereoscopic contents. Third, level of 3D stereoscopic movies' price need to adjust to valid level.

A Study on Shooting Techniques of 3 Dimensional Stereoscopic Rider Movie (3D입체 라이더영상의 촬영기법에 관한 연구)

  • 3 dimensional stereoscopic is attracting new attention as it simulates human eye and related hardware advances. However, 3 dimensional stereoscopic requires more time and effort than 2D movie because it uses 2 cameras or 2 lenses. This study analyzed the merits and demerits of the system producing rider movie using 3 dimensional stereoscopic shooting techniques and searched a way to produce better 3 dimensional stereoscopic rider movie which meets the producing intention by applying elements required to create effective 3 dimensional stereoscopic effect. According to the study result, a light-weight integrated system was effective to create 3 dimensional stereoscopic rider movie because of its genre characteristic. In the post-production of the work, location shooting considered of time re-mapping, color correction and graphic element addition was required.

  • 최근, 핸드폰은 일상생활의 필수품이 되었다. 특히 카메라가 장착된 핸드폰은 개인홍보와 오락요소로의 대표적인 도구로 사용된다. 나아가 양안카메라가 적용된 핸드폰은 사용자에게 입체감을 전달할 것이며, 입체감은 보다 효과적인 개인홍보 및 오락성을 제공할 것이다. 핸드폰은 휴대가 용이하지만 제한된 표시소자의 크기 및 해상도로 인하여 입체시 구현 시 사용자에게 손실된 정보 및 낮은 임장감을 제공한다. 이에 본 연구는 기존의 입체시 구현에 대한 구속조건들을 분석하고 핵심 요인을 산출하여, 핸드폰 환경에서의 최적의 입체시 구현을 위한 새로운 구속조건의 범위를 정량화하였다. 대표적인 구속조건으로는 수평, 수직 시차량이 고려되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 핸드폰용 양안카메라의 제작공차 및 효과적인 시차영상 제작을 위한 기준을 제시한다. 연구에 사용된 제품으로는 QVGA해상도(320*240) 및 2.8' 크기의 표시소자인 PDA폰이며, 입체시에 대한 구속조건을 정량화하기 위하여 수직, 수평이동이 가능한 지그를 사용하여 실험의 정확성을 높였다. 피실험자는 10명이며 남자 7명, 여자 3명으로 구성되었다.

  • If you ask many Stereographers how to make a good S3D and you will get all different answers. There are several 3D knowledges and opinions that were not always in agreement. we have to choose which advice to follow and find our own way. But there will be no durable screening of S3D films without a minimal viewing comfort of all the audience whatever the differences of their vision. First of all, We always consider several factors to get an appropriate S3D shot before moving on to production. This is intended to provide a practical example on S3D film production. I hope that this article will encourage further research on this topic.

  • This paper introduces a geometric modelling system adopted in a newly developed preprocessor for finite element analysis of three dimensional structures. The formulation is characterized by hierachical construction of structural model which consists of control points, curves, surfaces and solids. Various surface and solid modelling schemes based on blending functions and boundary representation are systematized for finite element mesh generation. The modelling system is integrated with model synthesis and operations which facilitate modelling of complex structures.

Implementation of Optimized 3D Input & Output Systems for Web-based Real-time 3D Video Communication (웹 기반의 입체 동영상 통신을 위한 3차원 입출력 시스템의 최적화 구현)

  • In this paper, 3D input and output systems for a web-based real-time 3D video communication system using IEEE 1394 digital cameras, Intel Xeon Server system and Microsoft Directshow library is proposed. And some conditions for optimizing the operations of the stereo camera, 3D display and signal processing system are analyzed. Input & output systems are carefully selected, which can satisfy the required optimization conditions and the final 3D video communication system is implemented by using three optimized devices. The overall control system is developed with Microsoft Visual C++.Net and Microsoft DirectX 9.1 SDK. Some experimental results show that the observer can feel the natural presence from multi-view(4-view) 3D video of server system in real-time and also can feel the natural presence from 3D video of client system and finally suggest an application possibility of the proposed web-based real-time 3D video communication in real fields.

  • Digital cinema based on digital master distribution increases with stereoscopic film as the center. DCI specification V1.0 announced at 2004, it considerates stereoscopic film screening. And now, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is establishing a task force to define the standards of a stereoscopic contents viewed in the home. Today, most Hollywood commercial stereoscopic film features animation using computer graphic. However, considering film making characteristic, stereoscopic digital cinema is required shooting in real world and editing, screening. This paper presents possibility of stereoscopic examination at NLE in the stereoscopic workflow. And we will propose new stereoscopic digital cinema workflow to apply the stereoscopic examination. Based on experimental results, the 3D ready television using 120Hz has some obstacles for contents editing, but most domestic stereoscopic monitor using circular polarization is possible for successful editing.

  • RIn this research, digital elevation models, true-ortho image and 3-dimensional digital complied data was generated and evaluated using unmanned aircraft vehicle stereoscopic images by applying photogrammetric principles. In order to implement stereoscopic vision, digital Photogrammetric Workstation should be used necessarily. For conducting this, in this study GEOMAPPER 1.0 is used. That was developed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. To realize stereoscopic vision using two overlapping images of the unmanned aerial vehicle, the interior and exterior orientation parameters should be calculated. Especially lens distortion of non-metric camera must be accurately compensated for stereoscope. In this work. photogrammetric orientation process was conducted using commercial Software, PhotoScan 1.4. Fixed wing KRobotics KD-2 was used for the acquisition of UAV images. True-ortho photo was generated and digital topographic map was partially produced. Finally, we presented error analysis on the generated digital complied map. As the results, it is confirmed that the production of digital terrain map with a scale 1:2,500~1:3,000 is available using stereoscope method.
