  • 객체 기반의 3차원 입체 변환 기법은 연속적으로 입력되는 2D 동영상에서 객체를 추출하여 입체 영상으로 변환하는 기법을 말한다. 두 눈에 투시되는 각 객체마다 서로 다른 시차를 가져야 입체감을 느낄 수 있다. 따라서 2D 영상에서 정확한 객체를 추출하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 프레임간의 차이를 이용하여 대략의 움직이는 객체 영역을 얻고, 그래프 및 알고리즘을 사용하여 정확하고 안정적인 객체를 자동으로 추출한다. 스크린과 양안 사이의 거리를 고려하여 입체 영상을 만들어 낸다. 후처리 단계에서는 입체 영상을 만들어 내면서 생긴 빈 공간을 채운다. 실험에서는 2D 영상으로부터 입체 영상을 생성한 것을 보여 준다.

  • 최근의 전자기기는 소형, 경량화가 가속화되고 있고, 특히 휴대용 기기에서의 MP3, MOD, VOD, DMB, 3D 게임, 등 다양한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠에 대한 일반인의 접근성이 확대됨에 따라 휴대용 기기에서의 입체음향 효과에 대한 사용자의 관심이 고조되고 있다. 하지만, 휴대용 기기에서의 입체음향 효과 구현은 PC 환경에서의 구현과는 다르게, 적은 CPU 점유율, 작은 메모리 사용, 등 열악한 재생환경에서의 구현이 필요해, 기대만큼의 성능을 내기가 쉽지 않다. 이러한 제약된 환경에서 만족스러운 입체음향 효과의 구현을 위해서는 기기별 H/W 특성을 감안한 알고리듬 최적화가 필수이다. 본 논문에서는 휴대용 기기 환경에 최적화된 입체음향 기술과 동향, 국내에서 상용화된 XEN$^{TM}$ 솔루션에 대해 살펴봄으로서 향후 휴대용 기기를 위한 입체음향 기술개발 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

Study of perception of the visual depth caused by the color correction (입체영상 제작에서 색 보정 결과가 입체감 인지에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • These days, as digital producing technique has been developed, 3D imaging technique is used in high-tech computer and T.V. Also study for 3D producing technique is actively in progress. Moreover, as James Cameron's movie, 'Avatar' released in 2009 was a box office hit, the issue about 3D image came to the fore again. At this point, I decided to study the effect of the visual depth caused by the color correction during the post-production stage. The purpose of this study is to offer information about processing effective images through data about the effect of the visual depth that applies the color correction during the post-production stage. Basically, I supposed that color and contract would have effects on depth of 3D image. As a result, I could find out the changes of visual depth, space perception and sense of depth throughout the experiment. Applying this result,, I produced the 15 minutes of 3D advertisement movie and I found out that the color correction during the post-production stage was very effective for 3D depth. The left image and the right image by beam splitter based rig and parallel rig were used for this study. Also I adjusted the strong contrast by the color correction during the post-production stage after correcting convergence and visual depth during editing. As a result, I could produce images which had strong sense of space and sense of depth.

[Retracted] Acquisition of 9th Grade Students' Conception of Earth's Rotation According to Individual Difference of the Spatial Sensibility ([논문 철회] 9학년 학생의 공간 능력 차이에 따른 지구자전 개념의 획득)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate student's Acquisition about the conception of the Earth Rotation between difference of their Spatial Sensibility. In this study, four students were selected out of 83 9th graders in Gwangju, Korea. The spatial sensibility test instrument was developed by the Korean Testing Center, and the test instruments of 'the movement of celestial bodies' were developed by Kim (1997). The results were as follows: Students with higher spatial sensibility understood precisely about the Earth's rotation in stereoscopic space. However, those with lower spatial sensibility failed to grasp the Earth's rotation and memorized it as fragmentary concepts. As for gender effect, male student with higher spatial sensibility explained the concepts clearly, while that with lower spatial sensibility has difficulty with the Earth's rotation in relation to the diurnal motion of celestial bodies. On the other hand, female student with higher spatial sensibility explained the concepts correctly in detail, while that with lower spatial sensibility had difficulty explaining the concepts in stereoscopic space. Therefore, students with higher spatial sensibility should be presented with problems in which they form their own solution. Those with lower spatial sensibility should be allowed to understand the phenomena intuitively. In developing teaching methods, female students should interact with the concepts in stereoscopic space directly, while male students should consider the celestial objects from various viewpoints. Then spatial sensibility in relation to the movement of celestial bodies would be expected to improve.

Preliminary Design and Implementation of 3D Sound Play Interface for Graphic Contents Developer (그래픽 콘텐츠 개발자를 위한 입체음 재생 인터페이스 기본 설계 및 구현)

  • Due to the advance of H/W and S/W techniques to play 3D sound, the virtual space contented by 3D graphics and sounds can provide users more improved realities and vividness. However for the small 3D contents developers and companies, it is hard to implement 3D sound techniques because the implementation requires expensive sound engines, 3D sound technical understanding and 3D sound programming skills. Therefore 3D-sound-playing-interface is necessary to easy and cost-effective 3D sound implementation. Using this interface, graphics experts can easily add 3D sound techniques to their applications. In this paper, the followings are designed and implemented as a preliminary stage in the way of developing the 3D sound playing interface. First, we develop 3D sound S/W modules converting mono to 3D sound in PC based systems. Second, we develop the interconnection modules to map 3D graphic objects and sound sources. The developed modules in this paper can allow the user to percept sound source position and surround effect at the moving positions in the virtual world. In the coming works, we are going to develop the more completed 3D sound playing interface consisted of the synchronization technique for sound and moving objects, and HRTF.

A Study on Compensation of Disparity for Incorrect 3D Depth in the Triple Fresnel Lenses floating Image System (심중 프렌넬 렌즈 시스템에서 재생된 입체부양영상의 올바른 깊이감을 구현하기 위한 시차보정 방법에 대한 연구)

  • The floating image system (FIS) is a device to display input source in the space between fast surface of the display and an observer and it provides pseudo 3D depth to an observer when input source as real object or 2D image was displayed through the optical lens system in the FIS. The Advanced floating image system (AFIS) was designed to give more effective 3D depth than existing FIS by adding front and rear depth cues to the displayed stereogram, which it was used as input source. The magnitude of disparity and size of stereogram were strongly related each other and they have been optimized for presenting 3D depths in a non-optical lens systems. Thus, if they were used in optical lens system, they will have reduced or magnified parameters, leading to problem such as providing incorrect 3D depth cues to an observer. Although the size of stereogram and disparity were demagnified by total magnifying power of optical system, the viewing distance (VD) from the display to an observer and base distance (BD) for the gap between the eyes were fixed. For this reason, the quantity of disparity in displayed stereogram through the existing FIS has not kept the magnifying power to the total optical system. Therefore, we proposed the methods to provide correct 3D depth to an observer by compensating quantity of disparity in stereogram which was satisfied to keep total magnifying power of optical lenses system by AFIS. Consequently, the AFIS provides a good floating depth (pseudo 3D) with correct front and rear 3D depth cues to an observer.

  • 청취자가 음원의 위치와 방향을 감지할 수 있도록 원하는 지점에 음상을 정위시키는 일과 특정 공간내에서 방사되는 음원의 반사와 확산효과를 모델링하여 가상 공간 음향을 실현하는 일을 효과적으로 접목시키기 위한 3가지 유형의 입체음향 생성방법을 제시한다. 그리고 각 방법의 유효성 및 적합성을 검토하기 위해 실시한 심리음향 평가방법과 그에 대한 결과를 토대로 생성발법들간의 성능을 비교 평가한다.

  • 3d 게임 혹은 애니메이션 툴로 제작된 인터렉티브 아트 작품은 디스플레이를 통해 표현 될 때 가상의 입체공간이 시각적 평면 상태로 전달되는 물리적 한계를 가지게 된다. 관람자의 몸의 움직임과 가상현실의 시각적 재현, 물리적 공간에서 물체의 변화와 움직임을 동시에 경험한다면, 다양한 감각과 자극으로 작품의 몰입도를 높이고 전달하고자 하는 내용에 집중도를 높을 수 있다. 이 프로젝트에서는 이러한 복합적인 인터렉션을 통해 현대사회의 가상과 현실의 모호성을 표현하고, 삶의 본질과 현상에 대한 철학적 질문을 제시한다.

  • The study analyzes how to create stereoscopic image in 3-dimension animation 'Yggdrasil', produced in Autodesk Maya(3D animation software), using Anaglyph method that is the oldest in 3-dimension stereoscopic video production. The anaglyph method help to produce stereoscopic images easily and to give effective 3D effect encoding each eye's image using filters of different colors. In addition, space direction applied visual perception theory expresses necessary distance, depth and speed effectively in 'Yggdrasil'

  • 3D 콘텐츠들은 과거 입체영화 '아바타' 이후로 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 그리고 인터넷 등을 포함한 사이버 공간의 모든 환경이 제공자 위주에서 사용자 중으로 급격하게 변화하고 있는 상황이다. 이에 사용자들은 원하는 높은 현실감을 바탕으로 디지털 콘텐츠의 입체영상 서비스를 제공받기를 원한다. 그렇기에 3D 콘텐츠의 증가에 따른 Stereoscopic 기술의 필요성이 증대 되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 3차원 입체영상 기술의 기저 기술 중에 하나인 Anaglyph 영상을 연구하기로 하였다. 최종적으로 일반 영상 및 입체 사진을 이용한 스테레오 영상 변환 연구를 진행한다. 세부적으로는 입체 사진(Anaglyph)을 이용한 스테레오 영상 분할, 일반 영상을 이용한 스테레오 영상 편집 연구로 나누어 진행 하였다.
