  • The Possibility of using acoustic impedance as an input Parameter for computation of underwater acoustic field in shallow waters was investigated. Analysis of the acoustic reflection from the ocean bottom with shear wave effect showed that acoustic impedances below the critical grazing angle have nearly angle-independent property and could be approximated with a single value of near-grazing impedance $Z_0$. Computations of the Propagation loss based on the concept of 'effective depth' indicate that near-grazing bottom acoustic impedances could be used as an input parameter for simulation of the acoustic fields in shallow waters.

  • The prediction method of TS parameters, frequency response, and electrical input impedance is proposed with physical properties of parts and results of electromagnetic FEA(Finite Element Analysis) in a loudspeaker driver design. In design for weight reduction and improvement of flux density asymmetry, the prediction results are well coincided with measurement ones. As the applications, it can be applied in design for improvement of the $2^{nd}$ harmonic distortion with flux density distribution analysis. The proposed method is expected to be utilized for reducing trial-and-error process in electromagnetic parts design. It can also be used for providing guidelines for parts selection in the early stages.

  • The piezoelectric single crystals used in piezoelectric transformers have a problem that power transfer capacity is comparatively low due to their high input impedance. In this study, we suggest a method to improve the power transfer capacity by reducing the high input impedance of the piezoelectric single crystal vibrator by connecting a capacitance increasing circuit to the electrical terminals of the piezoelectric single crystal vibrator where the circuit is a GIC (Generalized Impedance Converter) circuit using operational amplifiers. The result of measuring driving characteristics after applying the designed capacitance increasing circuit to the $128^{\circ}$ rotated Y-cut $LiNbO_3$ crystal vibrator confirmed that the input impedance decreased by 25 %, electromechanical coupling factor increased by 30 %, and the power transfer capacity increased by about 17 to 30 times in voltage conversion characteristics.

  • The requirement of acoustic performance about underwater acoustic material which is used in underwater environment more increases. Underwater acoustic material was made by viscoelastic material such as a rubber and a polyurethane etc. In order to increase an acoustic performance, several kinds of inclusions were added to viscoelastic material. In this paper, acoustic modelling and analysis techniques were introduced and the acoustic characteristics of underwater acoustic material were studied. Echo reduction and transmission loss were calculated with volume fraction of inclusion in the material. Also the characteristic impedance and the input impedance of underwater acoustic material were obtained and effects on the echo reduction and transmission loss of material were discussed.

  • The impedance of the speaker is likely to be recognized as a fixed value. However, speaker impedance continues to vary with frequency variation, especially larger in resonant frequency region. The sound pressure level of loudspeakers is determined by the current flowing throughout the coil that consists loudspeakers. If loudspeakers are driven by voltage, sound pressure level of the loudspeaker is distorted by the variation of loudspeaker impedance. Current-drive of loudspeakers can solve this problem, but distortion of sound pressure level occurs in low frequencies due to resonance. The distortion can degrade the sound quality of the sound system. So to solve this problem, In this paper, we propose a resonance compensation circuit using DSP. we simulates audio systems using an equivalent model of loudspeakers to verify distortion of sound pressure level due to impedance variation and propose a circuit to compensate it. The proposed circuit is configured using a state variable filter and it can adjust the center frequency and output, so it will be used various sound systems.

  • This study shows how the finite element method for the structural problems could be applied in the electromechanical impedance analysis of an in-air piezoelectric cylinder transducer and then compares the numerical results by the FEM with the measured results using the impedance analyzer. The results also show that the comparison between both results could be applied to examine the mechanical properties of the added unknown material to transducer such as an acoustic window.

  • The active noise control method that was developed for long duct has some problems to be applied for short duct. To overcome this problem, we apply the SISO(Single Input Single Output) algorithm for the active noise control of short duct using zero acoustic impedance boundary. The SISO algorithm can input noise signal and error signal with one microphone simultaneously. The real-time controller was implemented using TMS320E25 DSP(Digital Signal Processing) chip and it's performance was evaluated by experiment. As a result, we obtain total 4.7dBA noise reduction for 0.80m short duct.

  • In this paper, the method of material constants extraction in a thin-film bulk acoustic resonator(FBAR) using a genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed. The material constants are extracted from the input impedance of a FBAR by a GA optimizer. The characteristics of the FBAR input impedance affected by the material constants were studied to decide the fitness function for GA. As a result, the fitness was estimated by the series- and parallel -resonance frequencies and the FBAR bandwidth, as determined from the input impedance of the FBAR. A flowchart for the GA and a procedure fur the proposed extraction method are explained in detail, and the results of the material constants extraction are presented.

  • Migration image can be distorted due to reflected waves in the source and receiver wavefields when discontinuities of input velocity model exist in seismic imaging. To remove reflected waves coming from layer interfaces, it is a common practice to smooth the velocity model for migration. If the velocity model is smoothed, however, the subsurface image can be distorted because the velocity changes around interfaces. In this paper, we attempt to minimize the distortion by reducing reflection energy in the source and receiver wavefields through acoustic impedance homogenization. To make acoustic impedance constant, we define fake density model and use it for migration. When the acoustic impedance is constant over all layers, the reflection coefficient at normal incidence becomes zero and the minimized reflection energy results in the improvement of migration result. To verify our algorithm, we implement the reverse-time migration using cell-based finite-difference method. Through numerical examples, we can note that the migration image is improved at the layer interfaces with high velocity contrast, and it shows the marked improvement particularly in the shallow part.
