Design of a Microwave Bias-Tee Using Lumped Elements with a Wideband Characteristic for a High Power Amplifier (광대역 특성을 갖는 집중 소자를 이용한 고출력 증폭기용 마이크로파 바이어스-티의 설계)

  • In this paper, a design of high current and broad-band microwave bias-tee was presented for a stable bias of a high power amplifier. An input impedance of bias-tee should be shown to 50 ohm with the wideband in order to be stably-biased the amplifier. For this design of the bias-tee, a capacitor of bias-tee for a DC block was designed with a high wide-band admittance by a parallel sum of capacitors, and a inductor for a RF choke and a DC feeding was designed with a high wide-band impedance by a series sum of inductors. As this inductor and capacitor for the sum has each SRF, band-limitation of lumped element was driven from SRF. This limitation was overcome by control of a resonance's quality factor with adding a resistor. 1608 SMD chips for design's element was mounted on the this pattern for the designed bias-tee. The fabricated bias-tee presented 10 dB of return loss and wide-band about 50 ohm input impedance at 10 MHz~10 GHz.

Design of the Linked Patch Monopole Antenna and Its SAR Analysis along with Antenna Direction (연결된 패치 형태의 모노폴 안테나 설계 및 안테나 탑재 방향에 따른 SAR 분석)

  • In this paper, the monopole antenna for satisfying GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS2100 services is designed. We can get the characteristic of the low frequency bands by connecting the front patch to the back patch of the antenna and get the low frequency resonance band using a front patch slit. The proposed antenna total volume is $40{\times}98{\times}1.6\;mm^3$, and it is designed on the FR-4 substrate having a relative dielectric constant of 4.4. As measurement result after fabrication, showed that the resonant frequency bandwidths are 156 MHz(828~984 MHz), 708 MHz(1.476~2.184 GHz) based on the return loss of 10 dB, and the radiation patterns show as the omnidirectional shapes for the E-field and H-field. For analyzing the human effects, the proposed antenna is mounted on the mobile-phone case. The averaged peak SAR over 1 g and 10 g is simulated and measured when the input power is 0.25 W. We have checked the variation of the SAR values when the antenna is mounted 4 different directions, then checked the direction having a relatively higher SAR. The results also satisfied the limiting SAR values which are 1.6 W/kg and 2.0 W/kg averaged over 1 g and 10 g tissues respectively.

Design for a Tag Antenna Using License Plate Attached Vehicle Bumper (차량 범퍼에 부착된 번호판용 태그 안테나의 설계)

  • This paper describes a design for RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag antenna using license plate attached the vehicle bumper in 900 MHz band. The proposed tag antenna size which is located on upper center position of a vehicle license plate is 162.5${\times}$40${\times}$1 mm$^3$. A resonant frequency of design antenna and the bandwidth which has return loss of -10 dB below are 900 MHz and about 720 MHz(640${\sim}$1,360 MHz), respectively. The commercial chip impedance considered on design was 16- j131 ${\Omega}$ and the complex conjugate impedance of chip was used as input impedance of tag antenna. The measured return loss and radiation pattern were agreed well with the calculated results. The measured readable range of the proposed tag antenna designed on only the vehicle license plate was 11.5 m. Moreover, its range of the fabricated tag antenna that the license plate and the vehicle bumper were fixed by volt and nut was observed 10.4 m. These measured readable range showed about 5 m above far distance more than the average readable range of commercial tag antenna.

  • A lot of lipreading system has been proposed to compensate the rate of speech recognition dropped in a noisy environment. Previous lipreading systems work on some specific conditions such as artificial lighting and predefined background color. In this paper, we propose a real-time lipreading system which allows the motion of a speaker and relaxes the restriction on the condition for color and lighting. The proposed system extracts face and lip region from input video sequence captured with a common PC camera and essential visual information in real-time. It recognizes utterance words by using the visual information in real-time. It uses the hue histogram model to extract face and lip region. It uses mean shift algorithm to track the face of a moving speaker. It uses PCA(Principal Component Analysis) to extract the visual information for learning and testing. Also, it uses HMM(Hidden Markov Model) as a recognition algorithm. The experimental results show that our system could get the recognition rate of 90% in case of speaker dependent lipreading and increase the rate of speech recognition up to 40~85% according to the noise level when it is combined with audio speech recognition.

  • In spite of that stop line and crosswalk should be aware of the most basic objects in transportation system, its features extracted are very limited. In addition to image-based recognition technology, laser and RF, GPS/INS recognition technology, it is difficult to recognize. For this reason, the limited research in this area has been done. In this paper, the algorithm to recognize the stop line and crosswalk is designed and implemented using image-based recognition technology with the images input through a vision sensor. This algorithm consists of three functions.; One is to select the area, in advance, needed for feature extraction in order to speed up the data processing, 'Region of Interest', another is to process the images only that white color is detected more than a certain proportion in order to remove the unnecessary operation, 'Color Pattern Inspection', the other is 'Feature Extraction and Recognition', which is to extract the edge features and compare this to the previously-modeled one to identify the stop line and crosswalk. For this, especially by using case based feature comparison algorithm, it can identify either both stop line and crosswalk exist or just one exists. Also the proposed algorithm is to develop existing researches by comparing and analysing effect of in-vehicle camera installation and changes in recognition rate of distance estimation and various constraints such as backlight and shadow.

  • In this study, we introduce ASM-based face recognition classifier and its design methodology with the aid of 2-dimensional 2-directional hybird preprocessing algorithm. Since the image of face recognition is easily affected by external environments, ASM(active shape model) as image preprocessing algorithm is used to resolve such problem. In particular, ASM is used widely for the purpose of feature extraction for human face. After extracting face image area by using ASM, the dimensionality of the extracted face image data is reduced by using $(2D)^2$hybrid preprocessing algorithm based on LDA and PCA. Face image data through preprocessing algorithm is used as input data for the design of the proposed polynomials based radial basis function neural network. Unlike as the case in existing neural networks, the proposed pattern classifier has the characteristics of a robust neural network and it is also superior from the view point of predictive ability as well as ability to resolve the problem of multi-dimensionality. The essential design parameters (the number of row eigenvectors, column eigenvectors, and clusters, and fuzzification coefficient) of the classifier are optimized by means of ABC(artificial bee colony) algorithm. The performance of the proposed classifier is quantified through yale and AT&T dataset widely used in the face recognition.

Prediction of NOx emission for marine gas engines (선박용 가스엔진의 NOx 배출량예측에 관한 연구)

  • Natural gas for marine diesel engine is considered as an important and clean source of energy because of simultaneously reducing the emission of NOx, SOx and GHG. Especially with a appearance of shale gas, the using of natural gas has been investigated aggressively and expected to expand rapidly. By the reports, gas engine and diesel engine were both in a similar performance in the power aspect, and the SFOC of gas engine was shown a little better than that of diesel engine. But the characteristics of exhaust gas emission were different according to various combustion technologies. And with lean burn technology, the emission of NOx could be reduced to 85% lower than that of diesel engine. In this paper, it was described that a simulation program has been developed to predict NOx emission. The developed program is adopted two-zone model and Wiebe function for combustion in cylinder. The effects of premixed and diffusive combustion could be simulated by using the excess air ratio as input data. And it was confirmed that the results of simulation were agreed with the general trends of exhaust gas emission according to various combustion conditions such as lean burn, premixed and diffusive combustion.

Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Stream and Lake Water Quality (미래 기후변화가 하천 및 호소수질에 미치는 영향 평가)

  • 본 연구에서는 미래 기후변화가 하천 및 호소수질에 미치는 영향을 평가하고자 유역 수문-수질 모의가 가능한 SWAT(Soil and water assessment tool) 모형과 호소수질 모의가 가능한 WASP(Water Quality Simulation Program) 모형을 연계운영하여 충주호를 포함하는 충주댐 유역($6,642.0km^2$)에 적용하였다. 이를 위해 IPCC(Intergovernmental panel on climate change)에서 제공하는 A1B 배출시나리오를 포함하는 MIROC3.2 hires 모형의 결과로부터 충주댐 유역의 총 6개 기상관측소에 대한 과거 30년(1997~2006) 실측자료를 바탕으로 미래 온도와 강수에 대한 편이보정(Bias correction) 및 Change Factor Method로 상세화(Downscaling)하여 미래 기후자료(2020s, 2050s, 2080s)를 생산하였다. 미래 연평균 온도는 기준년도인 2000년에 비해 최대 $+4.8^{\circ}C$(2080s)의 온도증가를 보였으며, 강수량의 경우 여름과 가을 강수량이 다소 감소하였으나 연평균 강수량은 최대 +34.4%(2080s) 증가하는 것으로 전망되었다. 먼저, SWAT 모형을 이용한 기후변화에 따른 댐 유입량은 39.8%(2080s) 증가는 것으로 분석되었으며 유역의 유출특성 변화로 인한 유사량은 지표유출변화에 기인하여 봄과 겨울에 증가하는 경향과 함께 -14.5%(2020s) ~ +27.3%(2080s)의 변화를 보이는 것으로 분석되었다. 영양물질에 대한 오염부하량은 2080s에서 T-N이 증가추세를 보이며 최대 87.3% 까지 증가하는 반면, T-P는 유사량과 유사한 변화패턴을 보이며 최대 48.4%까지 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다. 호소수질 모델링을 위한 충주호의 Segment 구성은 충주댐1 지점에서부터 충주댐4 지점까지 전체 수표면적 $65.7km^2$에 대하여 상층과 하층 총 760개로 구성하였으며, SWAT 모형에 의한 충주호 유입하천 소유역에서의 미래 유출 및 영양물질 자료를 WASP 모형의 초기값으로 입력하여 수체 내의 BOD, Chl-a, T-N, T-P 변화 분석을 실시하였다. 이와 같이 지구 온난화에 의한 기후변화는 강우특성 변화에 따른 가뭄과 홍수 등 극한 기상현상의 발생, 유역 물순환 체계 변화를 야기 시키므로서 수자원 부존량 변화에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 기온상승에 따른 수온변화, 비점오염물질의 거동에도 변화를 초래하여 하천 및 호소 수질에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다.

Design of a Deep Neural Network Model for Image Caption Generation (이미지 캡션 생성을 위한 심층 신경망 모델의 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose an effective neural network model for image caption generation and model transfer. This model is a kind of multi-modal recurrent neural network models. It consists of five distinct layers: a convolution neural network layer for extracting visual information from images, an embedding layer for converting each word into a low dimensional feature, a recurrent neural network layer for learning caption sentence structure, and a multi-modal layer for combining visual and language information. In this model, the recurrent neural network layer is constructed by LSTM units, which are well known to be effective for learning and transferring sequence patterns. Moreover, this model has a unique structure in which the output of the convolution neural network layer is linked not only to the input of the initial state of the recurrent neural network layer but also to the input of the multimodal layer, in order to make use of visual information extracted from the image at each recurrent step for generating the corresponding textual caption. Through various comparative experiments using open data sets such as Flickr8k, Flickr30k, and MSCOCO, we demonstrated the proposed multimodal recurrent neural network model has high performance in terms of caption accuracy and model transfer effect.

  • Factors of Zero-Energy Building are divided into active and passive factor. Passive factor means insulation, heat bridge of building like insulation, windows and doors, awning, outside etc. and active factor means energy output and efficiency coefficient. Energy output of active factor is achieved by new generating energy. This study anticipated how many effects will be produced when not new generating energy but Vehicle to Building; V2B, bi-directional charging and discharging technology, is applied to Zero-Energy Building. In new generating energy, power generation will be anticipated by geography and climate, but in V2B, several input variable like user's discharging intention and number of usable charger etc. should be considered. We can check how much V2B contribute to the Zero-Energy Building by anticipated results, and that results should be anticipated by using probabilitic method because there is few statistical data. This study anticipate change of charging and discharging pattern, based by Demand Response slot, by using monte carlo method among the probabilitic methods.
