Development of the System Controller for the Airborne Small SAR (KOMSAR) (항공기탑재 소형 영상레이더 (KOMSAR) 시스템 제어기 개발)

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar is an active sensor utilizing the microwaves in order to get the requested high resolution imageries day or night regardless of the weather conditions. In this paper, the architecture of a real-time system controller for the airborne small SAR system, KOrea Miniature SAR which was developed by Agency for Defense Development is proposed considering the embedded real-time environment. The main purpose of the system controller is to control the internal and the rest of subsystem within SAR system in real-time. The main characteristics of the proposed system controller were implemented using the real-time operating system and the distributed hardware architecture for the small, low weight and real-time operation. The system controller performance and real-time operation were verified and confirmed by the demo flight with the KT-1 airplane.

  • In IoT environment, making sure of trust of IoT devices is the most important one than others. The security threats of nowadays almost stay at exposure or tampering of information. However, if human life is strongly connected to the Internet by IoT devices, the security threats will probably target human directly. In case of devices, authentication is verified using the device-known private key. However, if attacker can modify the device physically, knowing the private key cannot be the evidence of trust any more. Thus, we need stronger verification method like code attestation. In this paper, we use software-based code attestation for efficiency. We also suggest secure code attestation method against copy of original code and implement it on embedded device and analyze its performance.

  • Pulmonary function tests are widely used to diagnose and determine patients' therapy in clinic. And it was also applied in the research of the physiology and dynamics for lung disease. Among the pulmonary function tests, spirometry is the most easy and economic test. Spirometers are medical instruments that measure the instantaneous rate of volume flow of respired Bas. The mechanical spirometer was mostly used in the past. Up to the present, the most popular method of spirometer is the differential pressure technique with which change in the volume of flow are transferred to change in pressure. This kind of instrument suffers from several limitations, pressure drop, difficulty in maintenance and short period of calibration. Therefore, this study has begun to implement ultrasound spirometer, which is free of pressure loss and has wide range, focusing on the flow measurement technique and diagnostic algorithm.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) which is emerging from a change in digital convergence paradigm and recently rapidly advancing throughout the overall society is the core technology based on Ubiquitous network. In other words, This is a technology to identify the information of the object and recognize the situation by attaching electrical tag to an object and using Reader that can read the information of the object. With the emergence of the technology, it has turned the existing maintenance of the product into the network and intelligence of the product control by using the bar cord to maintain the product and will lead a revolution throughout overall society by affecting the fields of distribution and product maintenance as well as those of medicines, chemicals and food which the electrical tag can be attached to. this paper shows that utilizing the Bluetooth which is a local wireless telecommunication in the standalone imbedded system can implement the piconet configuration among the Readers and the data telecommunication with the main server

Implementation of a BLU system for advertisements using a LED and Acryl (LED와 아크릴을 이용한 광고용 BLU 시스템 구현)

  • This paper has proposed and experimentally demonstrated a new BLU using an LED and an acryl, which is specially focused on the implementation about the guiding effect of an acryl luminous by the LED. While the conventional BLU using a fluorescent lamp is generally and widely used, it shows big power consumption with a short life even more too thick to hold on the wall. To solve such demerits, we propose a new method for a BLU using an LED and an acryl in this paper. This BLU system has various scratches on the surface of acryl to get diffusion effect of light, and has been included an embedded board that can dynamically control the colors and the intensity of the BLU through the Internet. We have conducted computer simulations to find out the optimal scratch pattern on the surface of the acryl for the backlight system. Based on the resulted out simulation. The the optimal scratch pattern signs has been developed. The simulation result shows 2,673Lux an average for a luminous intensity test, and the other hand, experiential result shows 2,554Lux. From the experiments, it is possible for the proposed BLU system to be used for real advertisements.

  • The switch from analog to digital broadcast television is extended rapidly. The DTV can offer multiple programming choices, interactive capabilities and so on. Moreover, with the spread of Internet, the information exchange between the communities is increasing, too. These facts lead to the new TV service environment which can offer customized TV programs to personal/community users. This paper proposes a 'Customized Digital TV System for Individuals/Communities based on Data Stream Mining' which can analyze user's pattern of TV watching behavior. Due to the characteristics of TV program data stream and EPG(electronic program guide), the data stream mining methods are employed in the proposed system. When a user is watching DTV, the proposed system can control the surrounding circumstances as using the user behavior profiles. Furthermore, the channel recommendation system on the smart phone environment is proposed to utilize the profiles widely.

  • In this paper, we describe an implementation of real-time face recognition system under ubiquitous computing environments. First, face image is captured by PDA with CMOS camera and then this image with user n and name is transmitted via WLAN(Wireless LAN) to the server and finally PDA receives verification result from the server The proposed system consists of server and client parts. Server uses PCA and LDA algorithm which calculates eigenvector and eigenvalue matrices using the face images from the PDA at enrollment process. And then, it sends recognition result using Euclidean distance at verification process. Here, captured image is first compressed by the wave- let transform and sent as JPG format for real-time processing. Implemented system makes an improvement of the speed and performance by comparing Euclidean distance with previously calculated eigenvector and eignevalue matrices in the learning process.

  • In this paper, we introduce the design and implementation of satellite IP modem. The designed satellite IP modem shows the performance of 0.2% overhead, BER=10-5 when Eb/No=6dB, frequency offset of 8KHz, data rate up to 1536Kbps, $F_{if}=140MHz$. The designed system is verified through software simulation and then implemented with MPC86x communication processor, TMS320C6416 DSP, and Altera FPGA. Since each hardware unit is implemented in daughter board for modularity, we can reduce the development time and easily improve the performance with using better processor. Linux is used for embedded OS because it shows better performance in IP manipulation multitask processing, and hardware control through device driver. The implemented system is tested and verified with channel simulator. Since the proposed IP modem shows small size and light weight, that can be used anywhere with easy if you need IP environment.

  • As the convergence solutions become more common, the use of Arduino and Raspberry Pi boards has been increasing. These control boards has to be executed under power blackout. In this environment, we take advantage of solar power system to overcome the power out. In this paper, we poposed a effficient power control strategy. Our experimental device is a DSLR shooting device executed based a predesigned interval time. The control module of our experimental device is the compound system of Raspberry Pi and Arduino boards. Arduino board send the force signals to wake up Raspberry Pi. We developed a new control strategy algorithm for the efficient use of solar power energy. In this paper, we mesured the efficiency of solar enery consuming of our system. We programmed a control system to send DSLR shooting signals. In experimentals, we ensured a stable consuming of electricity during 10 days. In the end, it was found that the consumption power of the Raspberry was reduced by about 81% when the Aduino was combined to save power.

  • Technical development in car has utilized electronic controls (ECU, Electronic Control Unit) recently if was achieved machine such as engine performance in priority and electronic side technical development that improve safety, convenience, expense etc. is proceeded vigorously. Also, preference of consumers for car is various model's number according to change at the fast speed and complexity of software required from vanguard service development was increased greatly. Software development expense dominated considerable weight in car manufacture expense by such change and automakers established OSEK/VDX that is standard of automobile embeded system to reuse application software by module to respond this and transplant easily to other control device. Do when search about all item that is necessary in real-time OS structure that examines OSEK/VDX standard that is presented as the alternative to respond environment that change rapidly that refer in dignified mien after it is original, and uses actuality OSEK/VDX.
