  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of meteorological factors on the diameter growth and Key-year in Pinus koraiensis and Pinus densiflora trees grown in Chuncheon and Hongcheon. The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. The diameter growth of Pinus koraiensis was better than that of Pinus densiflora grown in the same meteorological condition and site environment. 2. The influence of meteorological factors on the diameter growth of Pinus koraiensis was the highest in the descending order fog, hours of sunshine, precipitation, relative humidity, warm index, and evaporation. 3. The influence of meteorological factors on the diameter growth of Pinus densiflora was the highest in the descending order fog, hours of sunshine, relative humidity, precipitation, and warm index. But evaporation was not significant. 4. The Key-years for Pinus koraiensis and Pinus densiflora trees appeared in 1964 and 1913 when the diameter growth was influenced by the specific climate change.

  • The statistical interpretations are on the correlations and the linear regressions between the various meteorological conditions the branch Pusan-Observatory of the National-Central-Meteorological-Observatory had measured from 1930 to 1962, and the production of silk worm cocon that the Section of Sericulture in the Ministry of Agriculture & Fishery had recorded from 1930 to 1962 in Gyung Sang Nam Do Korea. These were most in proportion to the sun shine time, an inverse proportion to the atmosphere humidity and the lowest temperature, in proportion to the mean temperature, the highest temperature and the amount of the rain fall. The correlations and linear regressions between the various meteorological factors to control the production of the silkworm cocoon of both per a box of the silk worm egg and per 10a of mulberry field was as follows. (1) The production of the spring silk worm cocoon was dicided by the various meteorological factors. 1. This was in proportion to the total sun shine time between 5 and 6 month. r=0.40*-(0.42$^{**}$) Y=0.0269$\chi$+6.46-(0.2795$\chi$+10.25) 2. • In this study analyzed the ponding changing of plastic deformation section follwed time development to apply weather, geometry and traffic data in additon to time development to improve road management service and safety of roads during or after rain. After We selected an 8.3km section of old national highway the Seongnam-Janghowon section and created a three-demensional surface of terrain through the numerical transformantion of design drawing data, with reflection the linear data of the same coordinate system in order to describe more realistic roads, we design additional structures with shading above roads. The altitude and azimuth of the sun were calculated and set based on the longitude and latitude data of the survey line for the analysis of the sun rate, and the daylight impact zone was visualized by setting the shaded time to an interval of 1 hour and the shade rate of the corresponding section. In addition, the evaporation volume calculated from weather data such as temperature, humidity, radiant energy, and road temperature analyzes together, it will use the way of a safer and more efficient road management as grasping the ponding changing more efficent in time development.

  • While global solar radiation is an essential input variable in crop models, the observation stations are relatively sparse compared with other meteorological elements. Instead of using measured solar radiation, the Angstrom-Prescott model estimates have been widely used. Monthly data for solar radiation and sunshine duration are a convenient basis for deriving Angstrom-Prescott coefficients (a, b), but it is uncertain whether daily solar radiation could be estimated with a sufficient accuracy by the monthly data - derived coefficients. We derived the Angstrom-Prescott coefficients from the 25 years observed global solar radiation and sunshine duration data at 18 locations across South Korea. In order to figure out any improvements in estimating daily solar radiation by replacing monthly data with daily data, the coefficients (a, b) for each month were derived separately from daily data and monthly data. Local coefficients for eight validation sites were extracted from the spatially interpolated maps of the coefficients and used to estimate daily solar radiation from September 2008 to August 2009 when, pyranometers were operated at the same sites for validation purpose. Comparison with the measured radiation showed a better performance of the daily data - derived coefficients in estimating daily global solar radiation than the monthly data - derived coefficients, showing 9.3% decrease in the root mean square error (RMSE).

  • Outdoor cultural buildings and their accessories receive different amounts of solar radiation depending on their location's latitude, azimuth, and tilt. Shading is also affected by the surrounding terrain and objects, necessitating individual and quantitative shading analysis. In July 2019, this study conducted a shading analysis on the tops, midpoints, and bottoms of wooden pillars in the azimuth of Cheongpunggak, a traditional building in South Korea's National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage. The shading analysis found that the solar access/shade predicted by the solar trajectory meter was 30 minutes slower than measured in the field. The highest solar access and solar radiation levels came from the south, followed by the west, east, and north. The pillars' bases received the highest solar access and solar radiation, followed by their midpoints and tops. Solar access was high at tilt 90°, but solar radiation was high at tilt 0°, due to the light-collection efficiency and the irradiance. Shading on the pillars' tops was caused by the roof eaves, while shading on the midpoints and bases were affected by the surrounding pillars, topography, and other objects. Simultaneous solar access at the tops, midpoints, and bottoms was possible for 365 days for the northwest, west, and southwest pillars but only from October to March for the south and southeast pillars.

  • For ten meteorological observatories running an automated synoptic observing system (ASOS), we classified the observation environments into five classes based on the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) classification guidelines. Obstacles (such as topography and buildings) and land-cover types were the main factors in evaluating the observation environments for the sunshine duration, air-temperature, and surface wind. We used the digital maps of topography, buildings, and land-cover types. The observation environment of the sunshine duration was most affected by the surrounding buildings when the solar altitude angle was low around the sunrise and sunset. The air-temperature observation environment was determined based on not only the solar altitude angle but the distance between the heat/water source and ASOS. There was no water source around the ASOSs considered in this study. Heat sources located near some ASOSs were not large enough to affect the observation environment. We evaluated the surface wind observation environment based on the roughness length around the ASOS and the distance between surrounding buildings and the ASOS. Most ASOSs lay at a higher altitude than the surroundings and the roughness lengths around the ASOSs were small enough to satisfy the condition for the best level.
