  • The purpose of this study is intended to determine the validity of shear reinforcement by evaluating flexural performance in the hollow slab. The hollow slab is relatively light and second moment of inertia is large. Due to these characteristics, it can be used to slab system efficiently. Therefore the prediction of the structural behaviors is very important because of decrease of shear and flexural strength which is caused by hollow section of slab interior. In this study, the flexural test were performed to analyze the flexural capacity of the hollow slab w/ or w/o shear reinforcement. A total of six full scale specimens were tested. These specimens have three cases of reinforcing bar ratio, 0.009, 0.018 and 0.024. To verify the flexural behavior such as ultimate load, load-deflection and crack pattern, the flexural experiment were tested by using loading frame. Experimental results have shown that the flexural behavior are depend on the reinforcing bar ratio. Also the hollow slab with shear reinforcement have shown flexural behavior. Therefore, it is appropriate that the hollow slab is reinforced by shear reinforcement to improve the flexural performance of the hollow slab.

  • In this study, the static load test and the load transfer test were carried out to evaluate the structural performance of the circular anchorage proposed by the previous study. Specimens were fabricated according to KCI-PS101 and ETAG 013. As a result of the static load test, it was verified that the displacement of the wedge and the strand was kept constant when the tensile force of 80% of the nominal strength of the strand was applied. In the load transfer test, it was confirmed that all the specimens satisfied the stabilization formula of KCI-PS101 and ETAG 013. Post-tensioned one-way slab with circular anchorage were fabricated to evaluate the flexural behavior. All specimens exhibited the same flexural behavior and maximum load. However, the specimen with circular anchorage were advantageous than the rectangular anchorage one in terms of crack control of the anchorage zone.

  • It is necessary to analyze on the compressive strength among material properties of concrete for confirming damages of architectures due to large explosion. A non destructive test is known as the representative methods estimating compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound hardness test are widely used because of their simplicity, convenience. But combined method supplementing two types is applied at now as they are affected by the characteristics of test specimen. In this research to check damages on the members of structure before and after explosion, the characteristics of compressive strength are compared and analyzed through a real explosion test prior to full scale structures. The test results showed that the larger the TNT powder and the shorter the distance, the greater the decrease in strength before and after the explosion and that the largest displacement and moment for the explosive load and the greatest decrease in the strength at the central part. Due to the surface condition and the thickness variation of the concrete specimens, the standard deviation value is the smallest in the combining method of fusion of the ultrasonic method and rebound hardness method. Thus, the combining method can be one of appropriate methods to evaluate the strength in the reinforced concrete structures damaged by the explosion.

  • The repair of concrete surfaces does not normally take into account structural tolerance for longer service lift and better capabilities of concrete structures. In particular, the repair of surface spelling completes as mortar is applied, which does not display additional structural performances. The use of crimped wire mesh for better construction and fracture resistance, however, expects to have some reinforcement effects. Particularly, it is also expected that the repair of bottom part in structures built between bridges like irrigation structures results in the increase of flexural resistance. Therefore, this study is intended to perform the repair using crimp wire mesh and examine strength depending on the repair section and depth. For this, a slab with 150 mm in depth, 3,000 mm in length and 600 mm in width and total 8 objects to experiment such as upper part, upper whole, bottom part, bottom whole and crimp wire mesh reinforced are manufactured to perform flexural performance. The results of the analysis show that yield strength and failure load increase as the depth of repair materials in the experiment reinforced with crimp wire mesh get bigger. In the same condition, repair of bottom part is able to increase internal force of bending force. Besides, the results show that partial repair of structures under bending force cannot produce flexural performance. Consequently, the repair method with crimp wire mesh results in the increase of flexural resistance.

  • Minimizing the self weight of long-span deck slabs is one of the key factors for the practical and economic design of a composite two-girder bridge. In this paper, the minimum design thickness and rebar details of prestressed concrete deck slabs for composite two-girder bridges with girder span length from 4 m to 12 m are studied based on the safety and serviceability. The bridge deck slab with minimum thickness is designed as a one-way slab considering orthotropic behavior. Then fatigue safety of the deck slab is examined. Serviceability requirements for the deck slab such as deflection and crack width limits are also examined. The result shows that rebars with diameter less than 16 mm is recommended for the improved fatigue behavior, and, for the deck slab with span length longer than 8 m, the deflection limit governs the minimum design thickness. The result also shows that, for the deck slab with span length longer than 4 m, the distribution rebar requirement in the current Korea Highway Bridge Design Code is not sufficient to maintain the structural continuity in bridge axis as expected from the deck slab with span length shorter than 3 m.
