Interactive Media Art Approaching Communication through the Nonverbal Communication (비언어 커뮤니케이션 관점에서 바라본 인터랙티브 미디어아트에 대한 접근 및 분석)

  • In this study, we studied methods of communication among audiences, artwork and artist and analyzed interactive media art using the nonverbal communication methods. We analyzed the 4 types of nonverbal communication based on sign and meaning[1] and reclassified suitably for analysis of interactive media art. According to the analysis result, we draw typical characters by analyzing interactive media artwork which were corresponding to the each types. Also we analyzed overlap area and classify. Through these processes, we found communication methods in interactive media artwork connect audiences and artwork by organic combination of several nonverbal communication. In this paper, we suggest a new approach about the communication among audiences, artwork and artist through analyzing interactive media art using nonverbal communication.

  • 이 연구는 관객과 상호작용이 가능한 홀로그램 아트의 구성방안을 제시한다. 이를 위하여 홀로그램을 디스플레이하고 인터랙션하는 방법을 설명한다. 제시하는 인터랙티브 홀로그램 아트는 홀로그램이 관객과의 상호작용을 통하여 새로운 미디어 예술을 보일 수 있다. 즉, 기존의 단순한 홀로그램 표현 기법에서 진화하여 공간에서 상호작용을 할 수 있도록 하여 새로운 미디어 아트에 적용할 수 있다.

  • Modern technology in the development and convergence of art brought the rapid development of the media arts actively accommodating 'media art' digital media. It has to go to expand the area and limitations as a basis of communication in the 21st century, a new artistic creativity, through the gathering of the existing chain of modern digital mobile technologies and new genre public art that is based on interactive communication break down the boundaries between sectors It has evolved into. This fusion of high technology and the art of mobile interactive media art is to overcome the limitations of time and physical space, as an active subject of interaction and participation, and expanding the range of experiential communications, such as art and science, cultural industries giving provides a flexible platform for a variety of applications. This study presents an expanded paradigm of the new communication and interactive media that define the reporting year review through the literature on art, experiential mobile communications through a case study of mobile interactive media art that is used as a medium of artistic expression the interactive effect was analyzed as a possible new public art. Convergence and interactivity, mobile interactive media art as a buzzword experience has proposed a new approach to high-tech and art and meet the new sensibility of our life and communication, unlimited possibilities worthy of the contemporary trend of convergence and consilience with a new art genre is expected to continued to evolve and develop.

  • The study intends to use interactive multimedia art performances for rehabilitation exercises for patients with early dementia. The interactive performance is completed by communication and participation of the performer on the stage and the dementia patient, who is the audience, and through this process, the dementia patient performs efficient rehabilitation exercises with interest and immersion. For the study, the characteristics of early dementia patients and effective exercise methods are examined, and a program map is constructed so that the patient's performance viewing leads to participation and leads to rehabilitation exercises. Movements and sounds generated by the audience's participation are converted into MIDI signals of Sound Level, Pitch, and Velocity to become a performance that controls music and video in real time. Through this, the patient will be immersed in the rehabilitation exercise with interest and will be able to have a sense of accomplishment as a participant in the performance. In addition, this study has the significance of expanding the area through various uses and applications of interactive multimedia art.

  • Interactive media art can be said to be art in which audience participation and communication through interaction is considered to be most important Previously the role of the audience is to unilately accepted the artist's message, whereas the role of the audience observing interaction media has been changed to the point of the producer, actively participating in completing the artwork through interaction. This study analyzed the interaction and communication between the audience and interactive media artworks from the audience's point of view (in the view of reception theory) by the investigation of the case of the artworks that were on exhibition. Employing the exhibition interpretation medium with docent explanation and wall text was experienced how to improve audience's communication when they watched the artworks. The docent explained the intention of artists and their artworks in the manner of storytelling and induced the audience to focus naturally on the artworks. As the result, the role of the exhibition interpretation medium was found to be significantly high in enhancing the degree of emotional communication with the artworks, so in this study I attempted to present that the role of the docent is an important factor for enhancing the audience participation and emotional communication through interaction with the artworks.

  • 본 논문은 본인이 제작한 라는 인터랙티브 미디어 아트 작품에 관련한 글이다. 발전하는 디지털 기술 안에서 아날로그 감성을 이끌어내기 위한 작품 제작 방법으로 손으로 그린 나뭇잎을 입자로 사용한 파티클 시스템을 이용하였다. 그리고 NUI 인터페이스인 립모션 센서를 사용해 자연스러운 손 동작 인식을 하여 파티클 시스템과 연동하였다. 관람자는 바람을 일으키는 손 동작을 하며 가을 풍경과 같은 나뭇잎 파티클의 변화를 느끼게 되고, 계속되는 손동작에 따라 나타난 새로운 동영상을 감상하며 잃어버린 감성을 느끼게 된다. 아날로그 컨텐츠와 디지털 기술의 융합은 관람자에게 친근한 접근과 감성을 자극함으로써 인터렉티브 미디어 아트의 새로운 확장의 가능성을 보여준다.

Compare that a complicated equipment which makes them spend much expense and time was only used in the big size of concert hall in early days, a small and simple one now helps you easily apply your idea to Visual art in Pop music performance even in the small club.   • Illusion played by mutual communication in Interactive Media Art is studied in this thesis from the narrative point of view, not from the entertaining point of view. Microscopic narrations founded in screen changes are analyzed by traditional narrative factors such as plot, point of view, narration, time creating the identity of Interactive Media Art. Traditional narrative factors in consequence have been converted to different forms after being combined with the features of Interactive Media Art. Plot has been converted to fragmentary plot and creators' point of view in many work pieces has been recreated to the outside participants' point of view. Also, creators' narrations described from various points of view has transferred to participants' narrations based on physically spacious search. Times of the present sharing with the past are observed in Interactive Media Art, too. It is concluded that audience's active participation through mutual communication makes an influence on the change of essentially traditional narrative factors. Moreover, the factors mentioned in this thesis are regarded as the unique identity of out of various kinds of modern media art.
