Strategies for Coping with Stress -Cognitive-behavioral Approaches- (스트레스 대응전략 -인지행동적 접근-)

  • Cognitive-behavioral approach can be clinically applied to coping with stress, because cognitions are playing a central mediating role in the occurances of stress and stress reactions. In other words, cognitive distortions can be associated with causing and/or maintaining psychopathology. The goal of cognitive-behavioral approach is to help the patients identify and alter cognitive distortions and maladaptive assumptions. This approach is aimed not at curing but rather at helping the patients to develop better coping strategies to deal with their life and work. The cognitive-behavioral techniques often used in this approach include problem solving, hypothesis-testing, self-monitoring, cognitive challenges, generating alternatives to automatic cognitive distortions, self-instruction, attribution and reattribution, and techniques to control or suppress thoughts. This approach is considered to be helpful for treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders including psychosomatic disorders, in which stress can greatly affect their onset and course.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 비디오/오디오 프로토콜 분석 방식을 이용해서 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스 중 모티브 개발 단계에서 디지털 나염(DTP : Digital Textile Printing) 전용 캐드(CAD)와 같은 디자인 저작도구를 설계할 때 어떤 요소에 중점을 두고 개발 할 것인지에 대한 향상된 지침을 마련하는데 있다. 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스에 대한 프로토콜 분석을 위해 선행 연구를 고찰하여 디자인 행동 범주의 틀을 하향식(top-down)방식으로 설정하고 실제 행동 프로토콜 (action protocol) 분석을 통해 상향식(bottom-up)방식으로 세부 디자인 행동을 도출하였다. 텍스타일 디자인은 선행연구의 건축디자인과는 다른 특징을 지니기 때문에 프로토콜 분석에서도 새로운 디자인 행동 범주(action category)가 필요하게 되었다. 이를 위하여 모델 휴먼 프로세서(Model Human Processor)이론을 근거로 디자인 행동을 모터 행동(motor action), 지각 행동(perceptual action), 인지 행동(cognitive action)의 세 가지 범주[4]로 나누었으며 텍스타일 디자인 프로세스에 적합한 코딩 스킴(coding scheme)을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 이 새로운 코딩 스킴을 토대로 디자인 저작도구에 대한 디자이너의 인지적 모형(Cognitive Model)을 개발하였다. 이렇게 개발된 디자이너의 인지적 모형은 디지털 나염을 기반으로 하는 모티브 개발 단계에서 스케치와 렌더링에 대한 디자인 저작 도구의 향상된 설계지침 뿐만 아니라 방향도 시사하였다.

  • The author reviewed cognitive-behavioral approach to A type behavior pattern and hypertension which are known to be risk factors for coronary heart diseases. Those cognitive distortions frequently found in persons with A type behavior include all-nothing thinking, selective attention, personalization, and attribution of causality. Cognitive-behavioral techniques were also described, which can be applied to management of each characteristic of A type behavior pattern such as time urgency, perfectionism, achievement striving, low self-esteem, excessive work involvement, hostility, and depression. Cognitive-behavioral intervention for hypertension might help the patients to recognize and monitor anger-engendering conflicts, identify characteristic styles of responding, and experiment with alternative ways of managing conflict and anger. Since different features predominate in different individuals, it is necessary to develop treatment plan on the basis of individual characteristics and problems.

  • 본 연구는 인지과학을 통해 해기사의 행동을 분석하였다. 인지과학은 인간의 판단이 논리적이지 않으며 모든 의사결정이 기억에 의존한다는 사실을 밝혀냈다. 그래서 본 연구는 해기사의 의사 결정에 영향을 미치는 기억 유형을 확인했다. 본 연구는 해기사의 의사결정 과정을 분석하기 위한 과학적 접근과 MASS에 적용하기 위한 의사결정 모델 구축을 위한 공학적 접근을 취하였다.

Examining the Formation of Entrepreneurial Activities through Cognitive Approach (기업가적 활동 형성에 미치는 영향요인: 인지론적 접근)

  • There have been questions how entrepreneurs think, act and why individuals become entrepreneurs. The trait-based explanation of entrepreneurial activities has been main stream. However, the trait-based theory has been criticized because it assumes that entrepreneurial traits are inherited, stable and enduring over time. This research accepts the cognitive theory to see how entrepreneurs learn or accept others' values, how entrepreneurial perceptions of opportunity impact entrepreneurial actions and how individuals acquire the social legitimation of the formation of entrepreneurial activities. In order to capture the attitudes, activities and motivations of people who are involved in entrepreneurial activities, the author uses the GEM Korea 2016 data. The data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor(GEM) has been well known for the data to capture individuals early-stage entrepreneurial activities. This paper used the sample from the APS(Adult Population Survey) of the GEM which was completed by a representative sample of two thousand adults in Korea by the qualified survey vendor, with strict procedures and oversight by the GEM central data team. The hypotheses are tested with logit regression analysis to estimate the probability of the influence of perceptual variables such as individual perception in social learning, the opportunity recognition in the environment, and social legitimation in the entrepreneurial activities. Based on the results, individuals tend to have high entrepreneurial activities if individuals have high self-efficacy. Also, the existence of role models around the entrepreneurs encourages the individuals involve in entrepreneurial activities more however the perception of opportunity in the environment is not strongly associated with entrepreneurial activities. The media exposure of successful entrepreneurs is more important than others' perception of entrepreneurs on the desirable career option or respect from communities. This paper can contribute to the cognitive processes, particular perception about oneself, as well as perception which is impacted by a community or a society.

Empirical approach to Cognitive Process for Problems of Marine Design (해양디자인 문제해결을 위한 인지적 프로세스에 관한 실증적 접근)

  • The researchers of this study closely looked into the methods for cognitive-scientific approach to problems of marine design at a time when the overall values of marine cultures are acknowledged in full scale. To that end, the researchers analyzed the problems and problem-solving process for the initial approach to marine design. At the same time, the researchers made the matrix of the design-developmental directions by cognitive scientific approach. After selecting the subjects, the researchers collected verbal protocol and behavior protocol which were shown in the process of a designer's thinking. This was for the sake of protocol analysis which is the representative research technique of cognitive science. Based on the collected data, the researchers empirically analyzed the behavior patterns shown in the marine design process so as to develop the design behavior-graph pattern of designers in an objective and systematic way. The behavior graph was helpful for looking into the initial developmental directions of design and for predicting cognitive structure of designers. The researchers hope that this study will become a fundamental material for predicting cognitive directions of designer for planning and designing the marine design.

The influence of perceived benefits and risks on the relational outcomes in strategically partnered firms (전략적 제휴 당사자 간의 이익 및 위험지각이 관계적 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of strategic partnership can be positive or negative. This paper intends to explain why the partnership produces opposite results. This paper incorporates strategic behavioral direction and perceived values for relational performance. The conceptual model as well as empirical analysis was made and the results are as follows. First, this study uses bi-directional decomposition of two research constructs. The first construct of perceived values is classified into benefits and risks. Also, the behavioral directions are either active or passive behaviors. The critical path is found that the perceived benefits make significant effects on active behavioral direction which does on commitment. Another path is that the perceived risks make passive behavioral direction which results in opportunistic behaviors between strategically partnered firms.

  • Education is an intentional change of human behaviors. This change is implemented through the learning process of humans. The principles in the learning process and its psychological mechanism are based on learning theories. The objective insight about how they are related with school libraries as a basic organization supporting school education, what they can contribute and what their research methodologies are is a base for educational and academic research of school libraries. This study at first is to investigate learning and teaching theories for school libraries based on behavioral learning theories, cognitive learning theories and constructive learning theories which are general trends for learning theories. Then it is to introduce new theory 'library-based education approach (LBEA)'as an educational base of school libraries.

A Study of User Experience Based on Feedback Positioning of Home Robots and Approach-Avoidance Behaviors: Focused on the Context of Tasks (가정용 로봇의 피드백 움직임과 접근-회피 행동에 따른 사용자 경험 연구: 작업 수행 상황을 중심으로)

  • Due to pandemic situations, the development of home robots that can make the house an optimized space for various activities is active. This study aims to confirm the effectiveness of approach or avoidance behavior for feedback positioning on the user experience, depending on the context in which the robot performs the task. Based on two types of the task contexts(Reactive vs. Proactive) and three types of robot feedback positioning(No move vs. Avoidance vs. Approach), six different scenarios were designed for experimental study. Likeability, perceived intelligence, rapport, negative attitude and predictability of behavior are measured for each conditions. The result showed the main effects of perceived intelligence, rapport, predictability in the context of tasks, and of likability, perceived intelligence, rapport in robot feedback positioning. The interaction effects were shown in likeability and perceived intelligence. In conclusion, approach-avoidance experiences can also be applied to robot behaviors as well, and the negative effects of avoidance have been significantly confirmed.

Public Service-Oriented Mobile Applications in Facilitating Changes in Human Behavior: The Effects of Design Factors (공공 서비스 기반 모바일 어플리케이션에서 인간 행동의 변화를 촉진하는 디자인 요인의 효과 연구)

  • Due to the dramatic increase in usage of smart phones, mobile applications offer a promising public communication channel to effect behavioral change in areas such as energy saving. For this, identifying relationships between applications and behavioral change would be useful for public institutions to formulate more effective public communication strategies. Based on a design science approach, this study examines the effect of design factors of public service-oriented mobile applications such as personalization, accessibility, and representation richness on users' cognitive and affective attitudes. Their effects on behavioral outcome are also investigated. The results of the analysis show that most design factors contribute significantly to the cognitive and affective attitudes of users. In turn, cognitive attitudes affect users' behavioral change in terms of energy saving, while affective attitudes are positively associated with the average usage time of mobile applications and behavioral changes in terms of energy saving.
