An Exploratory Study For Online Game-Based Learning Theory (온라인 게임과 학습과의 관련성 분석 연구)

  • Online games are getting more popular among today's fun-seeking young students. The immersive power of these Internet-based games is so strong that many educators consider the integration of the games and learning to enhance learner motivation. However, the online games, which are primarily aiming g for 'fun', have cognitive, emotional, and social features and impacts that are different from the so-called 'educational' games. Therefore an interdisciplinary approach for better understanding of the online game in regard to its impact on learning and fun should be essential. In this study, the researcher will analyze relevant literature and theories from cognitive psychology, media and communication theory, and Ludology to grasp holistic understanding of online game phenomena, which will serve as basis of further research and development in this emerging area.

  • 의사는 인간의 생명을 구하는 권한이 있으니까 마치 생명을 죽이는 권한도 포함된 것 같은 생각에 그야말로 막강한 권한을 가진 것 같이 보인다. 오늘의 한국에서는 과거와 달리 의사의 사회적 위상에 많이 떨어져 있지만 아직도 미국이나 독일 같은 선진 사회에서 의사의 위상은 준신에 가깝게 높고 그의 말과 판단이라면 비록 건강에 관한 이슈뿐만 아니라 삶에 대한 지혜로도 존중되고 수용된다. 의사의 사회적 위상이 높아진 것은 의학이라는 특수한 학문과 이와 연결된 의술의 그동안의 엄청난 발달과 무관하지 않다. 역사적으로 보면 고대 희랍시대부터 의학은 인간의 질병을 고치고 생명을 건강하게 보존하는 특별한 지식 그리고 이 지식을 기반으로 응용되는 치료기법으로 기예 (techne)라는 존칭으로 불리었다. 즉, 건강의 회복이라는 실질적인 목적을 가진 지식과 테크닉을 합친 이른바 귀중한 실천 (praxis)이다. 의학에 대한 낙관적인 전망은 시대와 문화가 바뀌면서 또한 의학 자체가 좀 더 발달하면서 도전을 받는다. 20세기에 들어서서 인간의 생명을 위협하고 또 고통을 주는 질병의 종류와 양상이 변하고, 의 과학이 앞으로 인류의 병들을 퇴치시킬 수 있다는 기대에 차질이 생기게 되었다. 미국 같은 선진국에서는 일찍이 1960년도 말부터 의학교과목 개혁의 일환으로 인문학의 과목들을 같이 가르치기 시작했다. 대표적인 과목들이 윤리학, 철학, 역사, 문학 등이다. 인문학의 보강은 의학과 기술과 인간성의 연결을 위해 의사들이 쓸 수 있는 인지적 도구 (cognitive tools)를 갖추게 하는 목적에서이다. 인문학의 도입으로 의사들이 인간의 삶을 좀 더 깊게 이해하고 풍부한 인간성으로 지식과 기술을 환자에게 적용할 수 있기 위해 각자의 마음과 머리 속에 포용통합능력을 발달시키자는 데 있다. 즉 의사들의 의식과 자유로운 상상력이 확장되면서 새로운 정체성을 갖게 되는 것을 바라는 것이다. 선진국의 의학교육에서 이 같은 교육이 좋은 의사를 만든다는 신념을 굳혀가고 있다. 성과를 증명하는 연구결과가 없어 아직도 회의적인 반응도 있으나 이와 같은 교육이 윤리적 상황에 대한 예민도를 높이는 것은 확실하다. 연세대학교 의과대학은 기독교 이념이 기본 교육철학이다. 인간성을 강조하고 의사들이 자신의 인간성을 개발 강화하는 교육이 하나님의 사랑을 의사 지신의 인간성과 그의 인간애로 내재화 시킬 수 있다면 그리스도의 정신을 의학과 의술에 연결시키는 고귀한 목적을 이룰 수 있는 길이라고 생각한다.

An Analysis on Humor Expression in Internet Banner Advertising (인터넷 배너광고의 유머 표현 분석)

  • As the Internet market develops and grows, the Internet advertising has emerged as a critical medium of advertisement and become important in a modern society. In addition, the Internet advertising is more fascinating and attractive than other media in terms of diversity and absorption. In the Internet banner advertising, for example, various expression methods which attract attention from users have been more than just visual advertisement, arousing curiosity and interest. Especially, humorous expressions in the Internet banner advertising have brought a new paradigm to advertising market. Therefore, this paper has investigated the patterns of humorous expressions in banner advertising and analyzed the related case studies to make a contribution to the effective production of the Internet banner advertising, which induces user awareness and selection. For this, it has been attempted to analyze humorous patterns and involvement that are found in humorous banner advertisings such as CIA Athletica, Panadol, Toy & Stok, Adidas and Lipton among the banners which have relatively high preference in Banner blogs.

  • Interactive space became one of the major design paradigms. For elevating the interactive effect in this, we need user-centered design methodology which uses the influential factors on the interactivity. As the second paper of three-linked studies for the interactivity in the interactive space, this research analyzed the interface factors' specific attributes for supporting behavioral participation. 'Interface' is one of three main factors on the interactivity(Intersubject/Interface/Interaction). Its role in the interactive space is to induce or support user's participations which bring the interactive changes into the designs. Qualitative case analysis was the main method and 30 cases were investigated. 'Individual analysis-Transitional description-Generalization' were the progressive steps for case analysis. As final results, 17 attributes for supporting behavioral participation were analyzed.

  • This study was conducted to examine the meaning and value of the healing mechanism of breathing as a health-oriented leisure activity to ease mental and physical tension and stress to improve quality of life. The results of this study indicated that leisure activities are increasing in diverse fields. Because modern people have a strong interest in the value of a healthy life, there will be more opportunities to enjoy health-oriented leisure activities, and their health-management efforts will be more fruitful. Additionally, if individuals undergo the process of healing and thereby build the right values about life, it will be possible to set the right direction for "holistic healing" that is needed in social relationships. Moreover, healing breathing can be defined as a leisure activity that aims to promote health through physical and mental healing. Overall, use of health-oriented leisure activities such as the breathing method of healing is expected to increase the essential value of human life and facilitate well-rounded socialization.

  • Development of the digital technology made possible the Integrated media that is combined computer with information network technology. Integrated media is the data transferring method through the multimedia, and has been developed by the similar form with the human's information transferring system. For that reason, interface has been developed as the important theme, Human Computer Interaction, according to the formal development. Using interface is not activated yet for the lack of connection with various divisions and the system of the product development although interfaces formatic development is re-arranged and re-established in design. This is the try to construct new model of the interface by re-arrange of the factors for the information transferring form development on the ground of the mp3 service vending machine development. Interface is divided into logical I formatic and hardware I software for he systematic classification and also arranged so that anybody can understand. Consequently, presenting of the new integrated interface paradigm can make possible to suggest the fundamental framework that is the new direction of the design re-arranged by the integrated media.

A Study on the Convergence Relativity of the Combining Curved Forms of Tall Buildings (초고층빌딩의 비정형 곡면형태 조합 및 복합관계에 관한 연구)

  • Globally, more super-tall buildings tend to be constructed competitively in the social and economic foundations. In the circumstance, this study is aimed at establishing a paradigm of super-tall buildings in terms of their various forms. Symbolizing a city or state, super-tall buildings not only are used as resources of tourism, but play an important role as a characteristic landmark. Therefore, it is necessary to find a curved form for a futuristic perspective. The purpose of this study is to infer the convergence relativity of curved forms among complex and diverse unstructured construction forms. This study used as subjects 50 super-tall buildings among the ranking data selected Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) in order for the basis of constructability related to actual design, rather than the way of recognizing a formative type, in the classification of curved forms into regularized surfaces, developable surfaces, and double-curved surfaces. The results of this study are presented as follows. This classification can be used as a fundamental material which is reasonably involved in the design process pursuing diverse curved surfaces in terms of design of tall buildings.

A Feature-based Method to Identify Services in Ubiquitous Environment (유비쿼터스 환경에서 피쳐 기반 서비스 식별 방법)

  • Services are reusable units in business level. Ubiquitous computing provides computing services anytime and anywhere. The combination of both is becoming an important paradigm of computing environment. Fundamentals of services require flexibility and interoperability, and key elements of ubiquitous modeling require interoperability and context-awareness. There are two kinds of methods to identify services. The top-down approach is based on business process, and the bottom-up approach is based on components. The first approach depends on experts' intuitions, while the second approach suffers the incapability of expressing non-functional expression through components. Although a feature-based approach is capable of expressing non-functional expression and identifying services in ubiquitous environment, the research on this issue is not adequately addressed by far. To promote this research, this paper proposes a feature-based method to identify services in ubiquitous computing. The method extracts initial-candidate-services from a feature model. Then, the ultimate services are identified through optimizing and analyzing the candidate-services. The proposed method is expected to enhance the service reusability by effectively analyzing ubiquitous domain based on feature, and varying reusable service units.

  • The purposes of this paper are to review the shifts and changes in urban planning environment, and to grasp how the new 'National and Urban Planning Law' accommodates these changes. In order to accomplish proposed schemes, I suggest that the following three details should be considered for the proper way of Urban Planning Information System(UPIS) from the beginning stage. First, new techniques are required to realize the new concepts in 'National and Urban Planning Law' with GIS and constructed DB by NGIS, as planning support systems. Second, the status of UPIS rises to the highest status among land-related information systems. Third, to adapt the UPIS to the decision support system, the restructuring of urban planning itself should be proceeded under considering the changes of concepts, paradigms and techniques.

  • 'Otherness' is a major philosophical concept in modern Western thought. It has been a force through which the concept of a subject's rights emerged. This paper focuses on Emmanuel Levinas' discussion of 'otherness.' Levinas emphasizes our ethical responsibility for others, which is meaningful in that it can be applied as a paradigm of communication for use in modern society. In the context of modern times and multicultural societies, it is important to recognize the diversity of others and to promote coexistence. Coexistence at this time should be 'unifying' rather than subject-centered. This paper attempts to understand this narrative. An epic is a cognitive process that constitutes the fundamental desires and experiences of humans. Humans try to project and understand themselves through narratives. The possibility of coexistence with others can be examined by analyzing otherness as found within those narratives. Therefore, this paper suggests the possibility and direction of coexistence by analyzing the storytelling that establishes relationships by shaping characters in Guillermo del Toro's film, Shape of Water.
