  • Cognitive radio systems have been considered as a strong solution of frequency scarcity due to the limit of frequency resources. This paper proposed an active interference management scheme that the secondary system can coexist with the primary system in the same frequency band without interference. Using the proposed protocol, the secondary user acquires interference channel information and transmit/receive filter information and designs precoding matrix using these information. Since interference from the secondary systems are collected to unused subchannels of the primary system, the primary system can suppress interference without additional process. The secondary systems suppress interference from the primary system using whitening matched filter so that the spectral efficiency can be improved. Numerical results provides that the proposed scheme improves performance of the secondary systems without interference to the primary system and do not degrade performance of the primary system even if the number of the secondary systems increases.

  • This study is a case report of Korean medicine treatment for a patient with quadriplegia and impaired cognition as neurological sequelae after ingestion of herbicides. A 59-year-old man with toxic encephalopathy and hypoxic encephalopathy after the ingestion of herbicides was treated with acupuncture, Hyulbuchuko-tang mixed with Ondam-tang-gami (血府逐瘀湯合溫膽湯加味), cupping, moxibustion, and rehabilitation. Clinical symptoms were measured with the Manual Muscle Test (MMT), Korean Mini Mental Status Exam (K-MMSE), Functional Independence Measure (FIM), and Modified Barthel Index (MBI). After three months of treatment, clinical symptoms improved. The motor function improved (MMT on both sides, Gr. 3+F/4G→Gr. 4-G~4G/4+G), cognition improved (K-MMSE, 13→21), and ADL (Activities of Daily Living) scores also improved (FIM 41→74; MBI 20→63). Korean medical treatment could effectively treat neurological sequelae after ingestion of herbicides in this case.

  • The user-based collaborative filtering technique, one of the implementation methods of the recommendation system, recommends the preferred items of neighboring users based on the calculations of neighboring users with similar rating histories. However, it fundamentally has a data scarcity problem in which the quality of recommendations is significantly reduced when there is little common rating history. To solve this problem, many existing studies have proposed various methods of combining Jaccard index with a similarity measure. In this study, we introduce a time-aware concept to Jaccard index and propose a method of weighting common items with different weights depending on the rating time. As a result of conducting experiments using various performance metrics and time intervals, it is confirmed that the proposed method showed the best performance compared to the original Jaccard index at most metrics, and that the optimal time interval differs depending on the type of performance metric.

  • When a vessel is underway in a heavy weather, passengers and crew suffer from seasickness caused by ship motions such as pitch, heave or roll, or all combined Sickness induces drowsiness, dizziness, headache, stomachache etc, in extreme conditions, they are met with a serious trouble which is physiologically unrecoverable. It results in weakening of spiritual activities or making errors from decrease of motivation, dropping off skills, poor recognition and poor judgement. In this paper, it was examined the international standards concerning the occurrence of sickness and the execution of works, also evaluated the boarding comfort by conducting several times of questionnaire on cadets boarding on the training ship HANBADA As a result, it was confirmed that the main factor of occurring the sickness was the vertical acceleration and the level was more than 0.2g. Also, it was presented the way how to reduce the sickness by changing the speed and/or course in relation to the encounter period.

  • In this paper deals with PON Remote monitoring solution using Reflecting Filter. The current FTTH-PON can not be monitored in real time that Optical cable fault and Quality degradation of Splitter. To solve this problem, Monitoring can make Feeder Network and Splitter that Reflecting filter development using the basic structure of Fiber Bragg grating. Reflecting Filter is Quality Monitoring System shall provide tools for user to view and analyze degradation of cables and splitter in particular predict any gradual component degradation(Optical cable bending, splice, connector, etc) before it becomes service impacting. The Reflecting Filter solution is splitter down and confirm the fault location of optical cable and it will send central control station can be monitored system an alarm to the OLT. In other words, wavelength side branches Mating existing communication affairs (Coupler) using the core of one optical wavelength for live monitoring two wavelengths and sends the subscriber side modem and aggregation switch device remotely using a reflective optical line filter monitoring the study of the system. this study can development of Reflecting filter improve the average processing time of Optical cable fault and efficient Maintenance of the network.

  • This study examined the peer and gender effects in knowledge-sharing behavior. More specifically, this paper examined how coworker social loafing is related to knowledge sharing and how gender differences moderate the relationship between coworker social loafing and knowledge-sharing behavior. Drawing on economic and social exchange theory, this study predicts that coworker social loafing will decrease the knowledge-sharing behavior. In addition, this paper hypothesized that men will be more likely to withdraw knowledge-sharing behavior than women when they faced coworker social loafing. To test these hypotheses, this paper conducted a hierarchical regression test with the supervisor-employee dyad samples. The empirical results showed that in the relationship between coworker social loafing and knowledge-sharing behavior, coworker social loafing decreased the knowledge-sharing behavior, and the negative effect was larger in the case of men rather than women. In the discussion section, this paper proposes the theoretical and practical implications based on theoretical arguments and empirical findings.

  • Paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis, a remote effect of cancer without nervous system metastasis, is rare, especially in childhood. Here, we report a case of paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis associated with an ovarian mature teratoma in an adolescent girl. The 15-year-old girl developed neuropsychiatric symptoms, memory loss, seizures, and unconsciousness. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were normal, while single photon emission computed tomography imaging showed hypoperfusion in both temporal lobes. Ultrasound and MRI of the abdomen revealed a left ovarian cystic mass. The patient experienced a significant recovery of cognitive function after surgical resection of the tumor, which was pathologically identified as a mature ovarian teratoma, and treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin.

  • The aim of this study is to conduct superordinate word selection task to compare their performance and reaction time, and superordinate word writing task to compare the differences in their performance and error pattern in 40 elderly adults and 43 young adults. As a result, first, in both tasks, elderly adults had a smaller number of correct responses. Second, elderly adults showed slower reaction time than young adults. Third, in superordinate word writing task, elderly adults showed more relevant errors than irrelevant errors. The reason elderly adults had a smaller number of correct responses in both tasks was that the links among the pieces of information in the semantic lexicon weakened or deteriorated due to normal aging. Slower reaction time was based on neurophysiological changes of the brain and cognitive processing speed. In addition, the relevant errors showed that they could access the lexicon for target words and produce explanation the relevant characteristics, even though they could not retrieve the target words.

  • Alexithymia is characterized by difficulties identifying and describing feelings, impoverished fantasy life, and concrete and poorly introspective thinking. Alexithymic patients have been reported to show a stable deficit with regard to processing and regulating emotions. Eating disorders are characterized by a persistent disturbance of eating or eating-related behavior that significantly impairs physical health or psychosocial functioning. Like alexithymic patients, patients with eating disorders show the impaired capacity to process and regulate emotions. There is a robust body of literature showing patients with eating disorders are more alexithymic than healthy controls. Specifically, patients with eating disorders experience difficulties identifying and describing emotions. Childhood maltreatment can increase the risk for depression and alexithymia, which can in turn lead to disordered eating symptoms. Also, higher levels of alexithymia are correlated with a less favorable clinical outcome in patients with eating disorder. Therefore, treatments to help processing and regulating emotions of eating disorder patients with pronounced alexithymic traits may seem to lead to a higher possibility of recovery.
