Relations of Consonant and Vowel knowledge with Korean Hangul reading among kindergartners (유치원 아동의 한글 읽기와 자모 지식과의 관계)

  • 본 연구는 단기종단연구로 4세와 5세 아동의 읽기, 받아쓰기와 자모 지식과의 관계를 연구하였다. 아동들을 시기 1에서 측정한 7개월 후에 다시 측정하였다. 회귀분석에서, 시기 1(T1)에 측정한 단어 읽기가 시기 2(T2)의 자음 이름과 자음 소리 지식을 예측하였다. 반면에 초성탈락, 숫자명명, 단어읽기가 모음 소리지식을 예측하였다. T2의 한글읽기를 예측하는 변인은 T1 한글읽기와 자음이름이었다. 반면에, 모음소리 지식과 초성탈락은 한글단어의 받아쓰기를 잘 예측할 수 있었다. 본 결과는 한글 자음과 모음 지식의 발달양식이 다르며, 이들이 한글읽기와 쓰기에 미치는 역할이 다른 것을 시사한다.

The Development of Delay of Gratification by Cognitive Style and Reward Presentation (인지양식 유형과 보상의 제시형태에 따른 아동의 만족지연능력 발달)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of age, sex, cognitive style and reward presentation on delay of gratification. The subjects of this study were 120 children 4, 6 and 8 years of age attending preschool and an elementary school in Pusan. They were identified as impulsive or reflective according to their performance on Kagan's Matching Familiar Figures Test. The levels of reward presentation consisted of the reward which was presented physically and the reward which wasn't presented physically. Length of waiting time was recorded as the measure of maintenance of delay of gratification. The data of this study were analyzed with Two-way ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The major finding were as follows: (1) Delay time increased with age. (2) No sex difference is found in delay time. (3) Reflective children delayed longer than impulsive children in all age groups. (4) The reward which wasn't physically presented produced loner delay time than the reward which was physically presented in all age groups.

  • 쥐는 옛부터 인류와 역사를 같이 하면서 사람에게 도움을 주었다는 일화도 많지만 사람들이 먹을 양식을 없애는 등 인간을 괴롭혀온 존재이기도 하다. 그래서인지 옛풍습에도 쥐를 잡아 없애기 위해 음력 정월 첫번째 자일(子日)에 농가에서는 ''쥐복이''라 하여 쥐를 복아 죽인다는 뜻으로 콩을 볶는 풍습이 있는가 하면, 정월 보름에는 쥐를 쫓는 뜻에서 쥐불놀이를 하여 논밭두렁에 불을 지르고 고함을 질러 쥐가 놀래 멀리 도망치게 하는 풍습도 있는 것이다. 이런 옛풍습을 보더라도 쥐를 없애기에 무던히도 고심하였던 것이 역력히 나타나며 우리 생활에 얼마나 많은 피해를 주었는지 재삼 말하지 않아도 알 수 있을 것이다.

  • 1999년 여름철 우리 나라의 몇몇 해수 어류 양식장과 종묘 배양장에서 Vibrio harveyi가 원인균으로 생각되는 질병이 발생하였다. 어종별 특징적인 증상으로는 넙치의 탈장, 복부팽만, 장충혈, 장액 삼출 및 간출혈과 조피볼락의 체표 궤양 및 간울혈을 들 수 있었으며 같은 시기에 감염증을 나타낸 turbot에서는 체표 출혈과 장출혈이 특징적인 증상이었다. 이 중에서도 특히 넙치의 병징은 에드와드병으로 추정되기 쉬운 특징이 있기 때문인지 각 양어장에서는 간단히 에드와드병으로 진단하고 그에 대한 치료가 실시되고 있었으나 치료 효과가 비교적 낮아서 피해가 증가되고 있는 실정이었다. An Analysis of Learning Styles for Implementing Learning Strategies of First-year Engineering Students (공과대학 신입생의 학습전략 활용을 위한 학습양식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify learning strategies by learning style of first-year engineering students in order to find implications for teaching and learning strategies in engineering education. This study was conducted with 273 first-year students in two universities in Korea. Following were the results: First, there were Sensing learners(72.2%), Visual learners(84.6%), Reflective learners(64.8%), and Sequential learners(58.2%) and the level of learning strategies was 3.28(SD=0.38). Secondly, the finding revealed that there was only significant difference in learning strategies on Information processing dimension and Active students demonstrated higher level of learning strategies than Reflective students. To be more specific, there were significant differences in cognitive, meta-cognitive, and internal and external management. For engineering education, implications for teaching strategies in classroom and self-regulated learning strategies were discussed.

An Analysis of Metacognition of Elementary Math Gifted Students in Mathematical Modeling Using the Task 'Floor Decorating' ('바닥 꾸미기' 과제를 이용한 수학적 모델링 과정에서 초등수학영재의 메타인지 분석)

  • Mathematical modeling can be described as a series of processes in which real-world problem situations are understood, interpreted using mathematical methods, and solved based on mathematical models. The effectiveness of mathematics instruction using mathematical modeling has been demonstrated through prior research. This study aims to explore insights for mathematical modeling instruction by analyzing the metacognitive characteristics shown in the mathematical modeling cycle, according to the mathematical thinking styles of elementary math gifted students. To achieve this, a mathematical thinking style assessment was conducted with 39 elementary math gifted students from University-affiliated Science Gifted Education Center, and based on the assessment results, they were classified into visual, analytical, and mixed groups. The metacognition manifested during the process of mathematical modeling for each group was analyzed. The analysis results revealed that metacognitive elements varied depending on the phases of modeling cycle and their mathematical thinking styles. Based on these findings, didactical implications for mathematical modeling instruction were derived.

  • The off-screen space openness of the movies converted a unilateral communication, which films have made audiences understand with, into an interactive communication. When the spectators see a movie, the off-screen space will be able to take out their positivity and induce their deep thinking. They won't accept information of the screen by manual operation but will participate in the narrative stories of the cinemas, thinking about the reality. In the paper, it shows that the motion pictures, which Jean Renoir and Michelangelo Antonioni produced, consist of the expressive forms of the off-screen space as well as a human has the ability sense, feeling, perception and memory associated with interacting between the off-screen space and audiences.

A Study on the Cognitive Levels and the Science Process Skills Based on the Cognitive Styles (인지양식에 따른 인지수준과 과학탐구능력에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of the cognitive levels and the science process skills based on the cognitive styles. The subjects of the study were 5-6th grade 790 students sampled by random cluster sampling method in three schools from large cities, small cities, and rural areas respectively. The results are as follows. 1) The field independent students showed significantly higher(p< 0.001) cognitive level than the field dependent ones. 2) The field independent group showed higher formation rate of subskills of the logical thinking skills than the field dependent groups. 3) It was found out that the field independent group attained significantly higher scores of science process skills than the field dependent group in 5th and 6th grade students. 4) The more cognitive levels became higher, the more science process skills were significantly higher(p< 0.001). 5) There were significant(p<0.001) differences among the science process skills for grade levels and three regions. And that there were not significant differences in the science process skills between males and females, 6) The science process skills of the field independent and the formal operational group could be acquired better scores in the science process skills than those who belong to another combinations.

  • This study was designed as a part of efforts to investigate the biochemical pollutant markers for diagnosis of marine pollutions by changes in lipid components of the flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) in the South Sea of Korea, Hemoglobin levels in serum of cultured flounders in the South Sea were lower ($4\~17\%$) than those of wild flounder in Pohang as a control group. Triglyceride (TG), Total and low density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol contents in serum of cultured flounders in the South Sea were $12\~25\%,\;9\~19\%$ and $17\~25\%$ respectively which are higher than those of wild flounder in Pohang. Atherogenic index (AI) and T-Chol/PL ratios in serum of cultured flounders in the South Sea were significantly higher($26\~43\%$ and $17\~26\%$ respectively) than those of wild flounder in Pohang. These results suggest that near-coastal water as well as neritic water of the South Sea might be affected by pollutant input as well as the Yellow Sea of Korea.
