An Experimental Study on Flexural Behavior of RC Beams Strengthened with Hi-Strength Bars(3) (고장력 인장봉으로 보강된 RC 보의 휨 거동에 관한 실험적 연구(3))

  • Unlike external bonded steel plate or carbon fiber, the external unbonded strengthening using hi-strength bar has some advantages in speed and simplicity of installation. It is not required surface preparations and not affected by environmental conditions. A set of nine laboratory tests on RC beams strengthened using the hi-tension bars are reported. Anchoring pin developed in former research is installed at the end of beam to connect the hish-tension bar to RC beam. The test results strengthened by hi-tension bars are compared with those of non-strengthened specimens. The main test parameters are the cross-sectional area of the high-tension bar, distance of stirrups and condition of supports. Test results show that the beams reinforced are superior to reference specimens, especially for the strength and deformation capacity. Also, shear resisting effect of hi-strength bar can be confirmed in the specimens which have lack of stirrups.

  • 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 속에서 인장과 전단을 받는 FRP 다우얼의 거동과 파괴를 예측할 수 잇는 수리적인 파괴 해석 모델을 개발하였다. 다우얼 파괴해석 모델은 다우얼 작용과 파괴기준에 대한 두 개의 하위 모델로 구성되어 있는데 이들을 수정, 결합하여 만들어졌다. 다우얼 작용에 대한 모델로는 BEF 모델을 기초로 하여 두가지의 지수를 새로이 정의, 사용하였는데 하나는 콘크리트지지 강성을 변화시키기 위한 변위 정도 지수이고 다른 하나는 긴장된 케이블의 반력을 고려하기 위한 인장 지수이다. 인장과 전단이 작용하는 FRP다우얼의파괴 모델로는 Tsai-Hill 파괴기준이 사용되었고 이 기준을 적용하기 위하여 파괴 계수를 정의하였다. 개발된 파괴 해석 모델은 긴장된 FRP다우얼의 극한 전단력과 극한 변위를 예측하는데 사용하였고, 해석결과는 여러 인장응력을 가진 FRP 다우얼의 시험결과와 비교하였다.

Evaluation of Interface Shear Properties Between Geosynthetics and Soils Through Inclined Board Tests (경사판 시험을 통한 토목섬유와 흙의 접촉 전단 특성 평가)

  • Shear properies of geosynthetic/geosynthetic and geosynthetic/soil interfaces which are widely met in landfill sites were evaluated from the inclined board tests. The inclined board testing apparatus is known to reproduce the shear behavior on the low normal stress most accurately. In this study, the friction angle of each interface was estimated and the tensile force mobilized at the geosynthetic was measured as well. The test results showed that the friction angle of each interface and the tensile force of the geosynthetics depended on the amount of normal stress, the type of the geosynthetics used, and the combinations of geosynthetics and soils. In addition, the sand/geotextile/geomembrane interface system was simulated in this study, and it was observed that the tensile force developed at the geomembrane decreased due to the protection effect of the geotextile located above the geomembrane. The test results of this research was compared with those of direct shear tests published, too. Finally, by comparing the measured tensile force of the geosynthetics when the initial displacement of the box occurs, when the slope is called as the critical slope, with suggested analytic solution, the accuracy of analytic solution and the applicability to design were identified.

Engineering Properties of Tire Treads for Soil Reinforcement (지반보강재로서 타이어 트레드의 공학적 특성)

  • In order to utilize treads of waste tire as reinforcement material it is necessary to know the interface friction angle between tread surfaces and soil and tensile strength of connection joint of tire treads. In this research large direct shear tests were performed to get the interface friction angle between the inner and outer surfaces of treads and soil for different degree of compaction. From the large direct shear tests, the ratio of interface friction angle to the shear friction angle of sand, ${\delta}/{\phi}$, were 1.06 in outside surface of tire tread and 0.93 in inside surface of tire tread. For weathered granite soil the ratio of interface friction angle was 0.98 and 0.92 for outside and inside of tread, respectively. Also tensile tests were performed using universal testing machine for the connection joint of treads and Tirecell units using bolts. The tensile strength of connection joint increased with the number of bolts and with the sizes of washers. Connection by polypropylene ropes showed lower strength than those of bolts.

  • We studied the material properties for reliability improvement in finite element analysis results for a nitrile butadiene rubber hub-bearing seal and for a carbon-filled rubber mount used in a vehicle. It was difficult to measure the material properties of hundreds of types of rubber for the mount design. Thus, we suggested that the engineering stressstrain relations from pure shear test data could be synthesized by using simple tension data and Poisson's ratio. We defined Poisson's ratio by using a function of principal stretches to synthesize the stress-strain relations for a pure shear test. A transformation of the pure shear data was applied to the experimental values to obtain the predicted results when the strain approaches 100%. In the finite element analysis for the contact force of a hub-bearing seal, the strain results that used the transformation of the pure shear data and simple tension data almost corresponded to the experimental values.   • The study of compatible liner with ADP-505 propellant based PCP was performed. HTPB/DDl was chosen as a binder of liner in order to prohibit migration of nitroester plasticizer from propellant. The possible formulations for liner were screened by peel test of EPDM insulation/liner, propellant/liner and insulation/liner/propellant. Also, the adhesion tests including tension and shear were conducted. The adhesion of liner and propellant fumed out to be very good. The peel value was shown 1.5∼1.8 daN/cm, tensile force was 5.5∼6.0bar and shear force was 4.2∼5.0bar. In the samples of insulation/liner/propellant, they also have shown good adhesion properties. The peel, tensile and shear strength were 1.8 daN/cm, 5.0∼6.0bar and 4.5∼5.0bar, respectively.

  • In general, Fracture of the material is not occurring of the maximum normal stress or the maximum shear stress failure in the state. Maximum normal stress and maximum shear stress in the state of Critical coupling from being destroyed based on the Mohr-Coulomb theory. Couple of different mixtures, including permeable asphalt pavement, SMA and dense-graded asphalt mixture, were used for compression triaxial test at $45^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$. Mohr-Coulomb theory to the analysis of compression triaxial test result of the internal friction angle $38.9^{\circ}{\sim}46.9^{\circ}$ measured somewhat irregularly, but in the case of cohesion, depending on whether the temperature and immersion of the specimen appeared differently. In addition, Indirect tensile test and compression triaxial test of the asphalt mixture to determine the correlation between compression triaxial test results assessed as cohesion and internal friction angle calculated using the theoretical Indirect tensile strength and measured indirectly tensile strength were analyzed. The Measured & Predicted IDT St values tended to be proportional.

  • Many of the liquid rocket engines use a hypergolic igniter with rupture disc ends located in the combustion chamber ignition line. In this study, the flow coefficient tests of the igniter, which have a solenoid valve upstream, were performed. The tension-type rupture discs for radial and circumferential scores and the igniter with them were tested using water at room temperature. The effects of the score, flow rate, the disc thickness, gas pocket and the solenoid valve on the coefficient were analyzed.

  • In this study, computation method of tensile load which develops in tie-bar of reinforced earth, connection strength between tie-bar and eco-block and shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks were verified by experiments. According to the test results of connection strength test, peak tensile load of D13 deformed bar were close to allowable tensile load of it for situation of infill with soil. Connection strengths of D10 and D13 deformed bars were greater than the allowable tensile load of those respectively for situation of infill with concrete. According to the test results of shear strength of the interface between two eco-blocks, shear resistance parameters, ${\alpha}_u$ and ��${\lambda}_u$ were evaluated as 1.7kN/m and 2$27.6^{\circ}$ respectively.

  • 배수성과 인장강성을 가지는 복합 보강재를 사용하여 보강한 포화점성토의 거동에 선행하중이 미치는 영향을 조사하기위하여 평면변형을 시험을 수행하였다. 보강하지 않은 공시체와 보강한 공시체에 대하여 이방압밀(K=0.3, σ3'=50kPa)을 실시하고 비배수 및 배수전단시험을 일정변형율 속도를 실시하였다. 선행하중을 가한 시험의 경우는 이방압밀후 소정의 선행하중을 가하여 크리이프, 제하, 에이징 후에 비배수 전단시험을 실시하였다. 시험결과 분석한 결과 포화전성성토와 같이 연약한 토질이라도 다짐을 잘하고 보강토의 큰 배수압툭강도를 이용하여 큰 배수압축강도를 이용하여 큰 선행하중을 가하여 과압밀 상태로 함으로써 비배수 전단시에 큰 초기강성을 가지는 것을 알수 있었다. 즉, 점성토의 보강토의 경우 보강에 의한 배수강도의 증가는 큰 선행하중을 가하기 위하여 사용하는 것이 가장 효율적인 것으로 판단된다.
