Unlike external bonded steel plate or carbon fiber, the external unbonded strengthening using hi-strength bar has some advantages in speed and simplicity of installation. It is not required surface preparations and not affected by environmental conditions. A set of nine laboratory tests on RC beams strengthened using the hi-tension bars are reported. Anchoring pin developed in former research is installed at the end of beam to connect the hish-tension bar to RC beam. The test results strengthened by hi-tension bars are compared with those of non-strengthened specimens. The main test parameters are the cross-sectional area of the high-tension bar, distance of stirrups and condition of supports. Test results show that the beams reinforced are superior to reference specimens, especially for the strength and deformation capacity. Also, shear resisting effect of hi-strength bar can be confirmed in the specimens which have lack of stirrups.

The existing evaluation method could not apply the effect of zero span tension generated in the waterproofing layer attached to the surface of the structure at the moment of cracking as the waterproofing layer was constructed in the state where the cracks were formed. The test apparatus developed through this study is expected to be able to conduct tests closer to the environment occurring in actual structures as it is possible to simultaneously create a pressurized (constrained) condition and an environment for zero span tension.

In this study, reliability tests of torsion control expansion anchors according to drill bit diameters were performed. The standard deviation and coefficient of variation of the anchor were reviewed through the tests for each variable, and the results were compared and evaluated with the standard test results. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.04 times the drill bit diameter, they were within 20% of the ultimate tensile load permissible standard coefficient of variation. It was found that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in the large hole was sufficiently secured. However, it was found to be about 253% and 210% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling performance of the anchor installed in 1.04 times the drill bit diameter was sufficiently secured. As a result of the reliability test of the M12 and M16 anchors with 1.02 times the drill bit diameter, the value of the coefficient of variation of the ultimate tensile load limit was within 20%, which satisfies the test standard. It was shown to be about 136% and 168% of the design strength, indicating that the pulling-out performance of the anchor installed in 1.02 times the drill bit diameter is sufficiently secured.

To improve productivity and improve the welding process, we have studied the automated system of the weld by applying a tandem welding. Then, the speed of the welding process is improved, production of industries is increasing. Productivity of the industrial sector has increased the application of tandem welding for automated system of welding. But quality assurance for the product take place welding defects in the welding process because the speed of the process is increased. Definitive research solutions an dit's actuality, however, there is insufficient. Accordingly, it is a situation that the performance of the weld to ensure quality of the weld is required urgently after the welding process. Comparing and analyzing the results of passing each experiment of the two-electrode welding and the welding electrode1, a study attempted to quality assurance of the welded joint portion.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of high-strength lattice girders as a possible superior alternative to conventional steel arch ribs. For this purpose, the structural characteristics of supports were analyzed using numerical analysis, and their performance was evaluated using maximum bending load tests and tensile tests of the welded joint. According to the results of structural analysis, the optimum size of the upper and lower members and plates is 50 mm × 31.8 mm × 25.4 mm, demonstrating excellent functionality and economic efficiency. High-strength lattice girders of dimensions 55 mm × 30 mm × 20 mm and 85 mm × 30 mm × 20 mm, determined from bending load tests, are found to meet both the reference values and the target values of H-profiles 100 and 125. A review of the ratio of theoretical deflection to actual deflection shows that the high-strength lattice girder developed during this study meets fewer than five of the evaluation criteria for lattice girder deflections proposed by the Federal Railway Department of Germany. Finally, tensile test results reveal that the welded joint of the high-strength lattice girder at the main steel bar-auxiliary steel bar-plate junction exceeds the target value, indicating that the welded joint has sufficient stability.
Total reduction factor that is used when calculating allowable tensile strength of geogrids is made by multiplying the installation damage reduction factor ($RF_{ID}$), chemical degradation reduction factor ($RF_D$), and creep reduction factor ($RF_{CR}$) etc. In case of a model estimating allowable tensile strength considering reduction factor over the short-term tensile strength of geogrids, it has a limit of not considering interaction force between reduction factors. Junction strength comes to be reduced by installation damages or chemical degradation in the same way as tensile strength. Single junction test method cannot properly test damaged samples and shows large deviations as it does not consider scale effect. Besides, regarding calculating shear strength, no reasonable study on reduction factors was conducted yet. Therefore, in this study, reduction factors that may affect the long-term performance of geogrids were revaluated considering various conditions and accurate long-term allowable tensile strength was calculated considering interrelation between reduction factors. Creep results after installation damage and chemical resistance test showed lower value than calculated value according to GRI GG-4. After the installation damage test and the chemical resistance test, the reduction factor of junction strength was less than that of tensile strength. Shear strength before and after installation damage showed no change or increase.

The use of Thin Spray-on Liner (TSL) as an alternative to shotcrete has drastically increased since 1990s when it was first developed and introduced to mines. In this study, tensile strength test, bond strength test, compression test with specimens coated by TSL, and two kinds of bending tests proposed by EFNARC (2008) were performed with two kinds of TSLs with different material compositions in order to evaluate their support capacities. As a result, both TSLs were shown to be satisfactory for the minimum performance requirements for a structural rock support suggested by EFNARC (2008) and tensile strength of a TSL was shown to increase as its content of polymer was higher. In contrast, its bond strength was shown to increase proportional to the content of a cementitious component especially at the early age.

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcing rebar with non-corrosive property is suggested as an alternative replacement to steel reinforcing rebar due to its enhanced durability and non-corrosive characteristics. Currently, a limited number of glass fiber reinforced polymer rebar (GFRP) are sold commercially due to their high cost, relatively low performances, and brittle failure characteristics. Therefore, the performance enhancements and cost reduction of GFRP rebar are needed to increase its applications in construction fields. The intent of this study is to develop high performance GFRP rebar by improving its tensile and shear properties. Also, in order to reduce manufacturing costs, factors such as material composition and manufacturing process were evaluated to improve manufacturing efficiency. Finally a GFRP rebar with enhanced material properties and less expensive than the GFRP rebar currently sold in the market was manufactured and evaluated for its application possibility in construction fields.

This study evaluated changes in fluidity and rheological properties over time for 3D printed composite materials, and evaluated compressive strength and splitting tensile strength properties for laminated and molded specimens. The composite material for 3D printing starts to change rapidly after 30 minutes of extrusion, and the viscosity of the material tends to be maintained up to 90 minutes, but it was confirmed that construction within 60 minutes after mixing is effective. The compressive strength of the laminated test specimen showed equivalent or better performance at all ages compared to the molded test specimen. In the stress-strain curve of the laminated specimen, the initial slope was similar to that of the molded specimen, but the descending slope was on average 1.9 times higher than that of the molded specimen, indicating relatively brittle behavior. The splitting tensile strength of the P-V laminated specimen was about 6% lower than that of the molded specimen. It is judged that this is because the interfacial adhesion force against the vertical load is affected by the pattern direction of the laminated test specimen.

Drying shrinkage in the hardened cement is known to change in volume by decreasing the moisture content in the hardened body, and it is known that the higher the W / C and the higher the content of the paste, the larger the drying shrinkage. In the case of ECC, more drying shrinkage occurs compared to concrete, since it does not contain coarse aggregate. Since ECC is an important material for tensile performance, the effect of restrained tensile stress on mechanical tensile behavior should be considered. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of stress caused by restraint on the tensile behavior of ECC. The mechanical properties of the specimens were tested by uniaxial tension tests with different restraints. As a result, the difference of tensile behavior according to restraint stress was observed and the cause was analyzed.
