Water Quality Prediction of the Miho Stream Using GIS (GIS를 이용한 미호천의 장래수질예측)

  • This study conducted water quality projection of year 2010 in Miho stream of the Geum river basin by using GIS. Pollutant load data of corresponding tributary of the Miho stream is estimated based on the pollutant load of TMDL zone to simulate water quality of the Miho stream for BOD, TN, and TP. The pollutant load of the urban area such as Bochung and Musim stream basin is relatively high and the wastewater treatment plant of Chunju city directly affects the entire water quality of the target area. As a result, simulation result reveals that water treatment facility needs more refined treatment process for efficient water quality management. Also, to meet the target water quality of the Miho stream water quality simulation estimates the additional dilution flow by increasing irrigation water supplied from the Daechung dam through the Musim stream.

  • 본 연구에서는 양산중인 배기량 2.4Liter, 간접분사방식의 소형 디젤엔진에서 연소방식을 직접 분사방식으로 연소계를 재설계하여, 간접분사방식과 직접분사방식에 따른 엔진성능상의 차이점을 비교 평가하고, 아울러 직접분사방식에서 연소실 형상과 연소 관련 주요 인자들의 변경시 엔 진성은에 미치는 영향에 대해 고찰하였다. 직접분사방식 엔진은 간접분사방식 엔진에 대해 동 일출력, 동일 Smoke 수준인 경우 10-15%의 연료소비 저감의 효과가 있고, 이에 따라 연소관련 부품의 열부하면에서도 유리하였으나, 소음 및 NOx 배출은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 직접분사 연소방식에서는 Deep Bowl 연소실 형태의 Cylindrical Type 과 Re-entrant Type 에서 연비와 Smoke 등을 고려한 최적 분사시기가 Re-entrant Type 에서 4.deg. CA정도 늦었으며, 각기 최적 분사시기에서 스옴, NOx를 비교한 결과 Re-entrant Type이 더 우수하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is the prediction of pollutant loads into Seomjin river watershed using neural networks model. The pollutant loads into river watershed depend upon the water quantity of inflow from the upstream as well as the water quality of the inflow into the river. For the estimation of pollutants into river, a neural networks model which has the features of multi-layered structure and parallel multi-connections is used. The used water quality parameters are BOD, COD and SS into Seomjin river. The results of calibration are satisfactory, and proved the availability of a proposed neural networks model to estimate short-term water quality pollutants into river system.

  • The basis of all approaches to improve reliability of marine engines exists in analyzing the field data of troubles and failures on marine engines. This paper analyses the data of troubles and failures on marine engines by Principal Component Analysis Method, one of Multivariate Data Analysis Method. The total number of data investigated is 211 and the observation period is 9 years. The analyzed factors are categorized among five groups respectively; electric.automatic control equipments, auxiliary machinery, pipings, refrigerators.air conditioners, and main engine. The failures in main engine are discovered by a definite fact of disorder, on the contrary, the failures in auxiliary machinery, refrigerators and air conditioners are discovered by sensible judgement of the operators.

  • Some kinds of methods have been applied to regulate the exposure doses by the radioactive effluents from nuclear power plants. The essential one is primary dose equivalent limit recommended by the ICRP. When the primary limit cannot be applied directly for regulation, there have been dose equivalent index in case of external exposure, or maximum permissible concentration, annual limit on intake, derived air concentration and maximum permissible body burden in case of internal exposure. But the derived limit is required from the viewpoint of discharge, for those values are inadequate to control discharge rate directly. This study was carried out to derive the release limit for the Wolsung nuclear power plant by the concentration factor method. This method is based on the assumption of steady state transfer between environment compartments.

  • Based on fermentation data for cyclosporin A production, simple Monod kinetics was proposed for both immobilized and suspended cultures. Higher value of $\mu$mas and lower value of Km suggest better catalytic activity of the immobilized cells than the parallel suspended cells. Furthermore, lower Km value in the immobilized cell system indicates higher affinity of the immobilized cells for carbon substrate as compared with the suspended cells. For immobilized cell cultures, these parameters were also utilized for the estimation of effectiveness factor, an indicator for intraparticle mass transfer resistance. Based on simulation studies, optimum radius of celite beads was turned out $100 ~ 500{\mu}m$In this simulation work, we examined the influence of biosupport size and immobilized biomass density on diffusional resistance of substrate inside the bead matrix. In order to maintain uniformly distributed cell activities in biosupport, it was essential to determine optimum slze of particle, and then to estimate the most economic loaded biomass content.

Effects of Physical Parameters on Water Quality in Agricultural Reservoirs (농업용 저수지의 물리적 인자가 수질에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of physical parameters on water quality was analyzed using monitoring data of 193 agricultural reservoirs. The retention time of reservoirs ($t_d$) ranged between 10 and 140 days, and the ratio of drainage area (DA) to reservoir surface area (SA) was between 10 and 120. Both ratios of DA/SA and total area (TA)/ reservoir storage (ST) in Korean agricultural reservoirs were relatively greater than those in natural lakes in other countries. As retention time was plotted against DA/SA ratio, it was shorter in Korean reservoirs than natural lakes. The semi-logarithmic relationship between TA/SA and t>$t_d$ was $t_d\;=\;42.21(TA/ST)^{-1}$ (n = 50, $R^2\;=\;0.89$). While areal loading of total phosphorus (TP) was below $4\;gTP{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in general, it exceeded $10\;gTP{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ in reservoirs where DA/SA ratio was greater than 100, which implies that areal loading of TP increases as DA/SA ratio increases. Chl-a concentration was positively related with the mean depth of reservoir, implying the higher Chl-a concentration with deeper the mean depth. Therefore, the deeper reservoir might be advantageous in water quality management perspective if other morphological conditions are similar. The empirical regression equation using physical parameters was also suggested in the estimation of TP concentration in the reservoirs. Combined information presented in this paper might be applicable to the water quality management in agricultural reservoirs.

A Study on the Structural Model and Evaluation of National Maritime Power System(I) (국가해양력시스템의 구조모델과 평가에 관한 연구(I))

  • For composing the structure model of national maritime power system by system structural modeling, in this study, the 50 basic factors are selected by survey of the extensive and through literatures on maritime, sea, maritime power and sea power. And the basic factors are classified into 36 component factors by cluster method. The 9 attributes are extracted by the application of the principle component analysis method, one of the factor analysis method in system engineering, to component factors. In this study, we define the attributes composing the national maritime power system by integrating the result of this study and existed our studies relating to this topic. Which are showed in Table 2. and we show the structure model of national maritime power system in Fig. 3. In Table 2, the 9 attributes are as follows : the fundamental power of maritime, shipping and port power, naval power, fishing power, shipbuilding power, the power of ocean research and development, dependency on seaborne trade, the protection power of ocean environment and the will and inclination of govemment. Also, in the case of evaluating this system, we conform the importance of considering the interactions among the attributes which have strong interactions in structure model of national maritime power system.

  • 전자부품 및 시스템의 고속/고밀도화 추세에 따라 발열밀도가 계속증가하고 있다. 최근 팬티엄 II 급이상의 노트북 컴퓨터의 CPU에서는 칩당 발열량이 10W 이상으로 증가하고 있고 패키징 공간의 제한 때문에 소형히트파이프를 이용한 냉각이 많이 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 모세압구동력이 크고 생산성등이 고려된 편조 형태의 새로운 윅을 개발하였으며 , 노트북 컴퓨터의 CPU 등 소형 전자부품냉ㄱ가에 적용가능한 직경 3, 4 mm 히트파이프를 설계 및 제작하였다. 직경 3, 4 mm Miniature Heat Pipe (이하 MHP) 의 작동특성은 일반적인 중형히트파이프와 다르므로 MHP 의 열전달 특성 및 작동성능에 미치는 각종 인자들의 영향을 파악하고자 성능시험을 수행하였다. 고려된 작동인자로는 작동유체 충전률, 전체 파이프길이 및 증발부, 응축부길이, 설치 경사각, 윅의 가닥수, 열부하 등이다. 작동인자의 영향과 관련된 연구결과는 향후 패키징을 위한 응용연구의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
