Impact Properties and Fractography of Structural Materials for LNG Tank at Cryogenic Temperatures (LNG 저장탱크용 재료의 극저온 충격특성과 파면해석)

  • In order to investigate the impact properties of structural materials for LNG tank, instrumented Charpy impact tests were carried out at cryogenic temperatures. $9\%$ Ni steel showed a superior fracture resistance because of less degradation in toughness until 77 K. From the load-deflection curve obtained by an instrumented methods it was found that with the decrease of temperature from 173 K to 77 K, the peak load in the curve increased, but the total absorbed energy decreased. In addition, the energy absorbed during the crack growth was larger than one absorbed in the process of crack initiation. In SUS304L material, the energy absorbed in the process of the crack initiation was relatively large, but the energy absorbed in the process of crack growth was small, the behavior of absorbed energy was well agreed with the observations of the fracture surface which showed a relatively smooth fracture surface. The absorbed Charpy impact energy in the case of A5083 alloy was lower as compared with other steels, and some cracks were observed along the crack propagation direction at the fracture surface of 77 K.

THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG CHILD'S BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS, MATERNAL DEPRESSION, AND PARENTING STRESS (아동의 정서 및 행동 문제와 어머니의 우울증, 양육 스트레스간의 관계)

  • Objectives:This study investigated the relationship among child's behavior problems, maternal depression, and parenting stress in children with psychiatric diagnoses and their mothers, and the effect of these variables to the mothers' parenting stress. Methods:Seventy-three children(31 externalizing, 24 internalizing, 18 mixed) and their mothers were involved in this study. The mothers of three groups completed MMPI, KPI-C(Korean Personality Inventory for Children), and PSI(Parenting Stress Index). To investigate the relationships among each variables, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, stepwise regression analysis were performed. Results:There was no significant difference in maternal depression among three groups of children. In 2-Way ANOVA, main effect of maternal depression was statistically significant on depression, parent health, and relationship with spouse subfactor in parent domain, parent domain total, and overall parenting stress. But the main effect of child group was statistically significant on distractability/hyperactivity subfactor in child domain only. In regression analysis, maternal depression explained the parent domain of parenting stress most effectively, and child's hyperactivity and anxiety explained the child domain of parenting stress significantly. Conclusion:These findings suggest that it is important to intervene maternal depression to reduce the parenting stress, along with the treatment of the child's behavior problems.

Hydrothermal Evolution for the Inseong Au-Ag Deposit in the Hwanggangri Metallogenic Region, Korea (황강리 광화대 인성 금-은 광상의 광화 유체 진화)

  • The Inseong Au-Ag and base metal deposit, located in Chungchengbuk-do, Korea, consists of series of quartz veins filling fissures. The deposit occurs in Hwanggangri meta-sediment formation, a lime pebble-bearing phyllite, in the Okcheon Supergroup. Abundant ore minerals in the deposit are pyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena. The gangue minerals are quartz, calcite and chlorite. Hydrothermal alteration such as chlorization, silicitication, sericitization and carbonitization can be observed around the quartz veins. 4 vein stages can be distinguished based on its paragenetic sequence, vein structure, alteration features and ore minerals. Microthermometry of the fluid inclusion assemblages occur in the veins are conducted to reconstruct a hydrothermal P-T evolution. Fluid inclusions in clean and barren quartz vein in stage 1 have Th of $270{\sim}342^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 1.7~6.4 (NaCl eqiv.) wt%. Euhedral quartz crystal in stage 2 have Th of $108{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.5~7.5 wt%. Barren milky quartz vein in stage 3 have Th of $174{\sim}380^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.8~7.5 wt%. Calcite vein in stage 4 have Th of $103{\sim}265^{\circ}C$ and salinity of 0.7~6.4 wt%. Calculated paleodepth about 0.5~1.5 km (hydrostatic pressure) indicate epithermal ore-forming condition. Shallow depth but relatively high-T hydrothermal fluids possibly create a steep geothermal gradient, sufficient for base metal precipitation in the Inseong deposit.

Chipped Titanium Scraps as Raw Materials for Cutting Tools (타이타늄 밀링/터닝 스크랩의 절삭공구 소재화)

  • Scraps are a byproduct of the machining process used for transforming titanium ingots into useful mechanical parts. Scraps take two forms, namely, bulky scraps, which are produced by cutting, and chipped scraps, which are produced by milling. Bulky scraps are comparatively easier to recycle because of their small surface area and less oxygen content; as a result, they pose only a small risk of explosion. In contrast, chipped scraps pose a higher risk of explosion, because of which, their recycling is complicated, resulting in most such scraps being discarded. With the aim of avoiding this waste, we proposed a novel process for converting chipped scraps into stable carbide materials. Methods typically applied to reduce particle size and impair the formation of solid solution type phase in the carbide materials were used to improve the mechanical properties of carbides prepared from chipped scraps. Our novel recycling process reduced carbide production costs and improved carbide quality.

Flipped Learning in Socioscientific Issues Instruction: Its Impact on Middle School Students' Key Competencies and Character Development as Citizens (플립러닝 기반 SSI 수업이 중학생의 과학기술 사회 시민으로서의 역량 및 인성 함양에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims to investigate how flipped learning-based socioscientific issue instruction (FL-SSI instruction) affected middle school students' key competencies and character development. Traditional classrooms are constrained in terms of time and resources for exploring the issues and making decision on SSI. To address these concerns, we designed and implemented an SSI instruction adopting flipped learning. Seventy-three 8th graders participated in an SSI program on four topics for over 12 class periods. Two questionnaires were used as a main data source to measure students' key competencies and character development before and after the SSI instruction. In addition, student responses and shared experience from focus group interviews after the instruction were collected and analyzed. The results indicate that the students significantly improved their key competencies and experienced character development after the SSI instruction. The students presented statistically significant improvement in the key competencies (i.e., collaboration, information and technology, critical thinking and problem-solving, and communication skills) and in two out of three factors in character and values as global citizens (social and moral compassion, and socio-scientific accountability). Interview data supports the quantitative results indicating that SSI instruction with a flipped learning strategy provided students in-depth and rich learning opportunities. The students responded that watching web-based videos prior to class enabled them to deeply understand the issue and actively engage in discussion and debate once class began. Furthermore, the resulting gains in available class time deriving from a flipped learning approach allowed the students to examine the issue from diverse perspectives.

  • 상용화되어 있는 이동통신 기기의 Front-end 부분은 듀플렉서와 필터를 포함하는 수동소자로 구성되어 있다. 듀플렉서의 임피던스 정합선로는 전송선로 이론으로부터 설계하며, 단순하게 ${\lambda}=1/4$ 파장 길이의 정합 선로를 설치하는 것이기 때문에 정합선로를 이용한 듀플렉서 성능을 극대화하기 위한 설계의 융통성이 없는게 현실이다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 집중소자(lumped element)인 R L C를 탄성 표면파 듀플렉서 대신 스위치 모들에 적용하게 된다면 여러 가지 다양한 형태의 회로를 구현할 수 있고 회로망 내에 위치하는 집중소자의 정격을 최적화하여 스위치 모듈의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 가능성이 있다. 본 연구에서는 $900 MHz{\sim}2.2 GHz$의 대역에서 소형화 집적화에 적용 가능한 디바이스를 개발하기 위하여 고주파, 저진압, 저손실 스위치 모듈의 제조와 구성되는 커패시터와 인덕터의 제조와 특성에 관하여 연구하였다.

  • Densification behavior of $Si_3N_4$ ceramics by two step gas pressure sintering was compared with pres-sureless sintering one step gas pressure sintering or hot isostatic pressing. While it was difficult to get the highly interlocked ${\beta}-Si_3N_4$ microstructure during the pressureless sintering due to decomposition above $1800^{\circ}C$ gas pressure sintering could solve this problem by increasing the densification temperature 2MPa of nitrogen pressure was enough to inhibit the decomposition up to $1890^{\circ}C$ and especially two step gas pres-sure sintering applying comparatively low pressure(2MPa) until the closed pore stage and then high pres-sure(10MPa) after pore closure could increase the hardness and the toughness.

  • 본 연구에서는 입계의 성질을 이용한 PTCR 재료에 입계 modifier로서 $Bi_{2}$$O_{3}$와 BN을 첨가하고 입계의 미세구조와 결함농도를 변화시켜 이에 따른 소결 및 전기적 특성변화를 TMA, XRD, 복합 임피던스방법 등을 이용하여 해석하였다. 실험 결과 Y이 도우핑된 BaT$iO_{3}$ PTCR 재료에 $Bi_{2}$$O_{3}$를 첨가하였을때 약 0.1mol%까지 고용이 되는 것으로 밝혀졌다. $Bi_{2}$$O_{3}$를 고용한계 이하로 첨가시에는 생성되는 vacancy등의 결함으로 말미암아 Y-BaT$iO_{3}$의 치밀화가 촉진되었으나, 그 이상 첨가하면 치밀화 뿐만 아니라 결정립 성장도 억제되었다.$Bi_{2}$$O_{3}$ 결정립 내부에 Ba와 Ti vacancy가 동시에 생길 수 있어 고온저항이 높아짐을 알 수 있었다. BN은 BaT$iO_{3}$에 고용이 되지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 $B_{2}$O/wub/3를 주성분으로한 액상형성으로 인하여 저온에서의 급격한 치밀화가 관찰되었다. 또 Ba-Y-Ti-B-O의 비정질 상이 tripie junction에 존재함으로서 상온저항이 크게 변화하였으며, PTCR jump도 높아졌다.

  • 의료용 공구로 사용되는 합금은 마르텐사이트계 스테인리스강의 대표 강종인 420스테인리스강이 사용되며, 이 합금은 고온의 오스테나이트 상태에서 ?칭하면 마르텐사이트 조직으로 변태하여 현저하게 경화하는 특징을 가지고 있으며, 오스테나이트화 후 템퍼링시 우수한 기계적 성질이 얻어진다. 그러나 템퍼링 온도의 영향으로 석출탄화물이 형성되어 기계적 성질이나 내식성이 저하되는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 STS 420스테인리스강의 템퍼링 온도에 의한 내식성 문제점을 개선시키기 위해 STS630 합금을 사용하여 다양한 석출 열처리 조건 및 플라즈마 질화공정을 연구하였다. 구입한 소재의 균일한 성분 조정을 통한 미세 편석 및 물성부여를 위한 균질화 조건 도출 열처리를 실시하였으며, STS630의 고용화열처리는 오스테나이트 균일조직이 되는 온도영역으로 가열하여 급냉하는 것으로 마르텐사이트 변태시키는 열처리를 진행하였으며, 열처리온도는 $1020{\sim}1060^{\circ}C$로 설정하였다. 석출경화 열처리는 $460{\sim}480^{\circ}C$$500{\sim}520^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 실시, 제품에 따른 인성을 부여하였으며, 질화공정은 플라즈마 장비를 이용하여 플라즈마 가열 ${\rightarrow}$플라즈마 이온질화를 통하여 가장 최적의 공정을 도출하였다.- 질화가 마무리 된 시료는 내식성 및 물성 평가를 통해 제품으로서의 특성을 평가하였다. 석출경화 열처리에 의해 STS420합금에 버금가는 인장강도 및 경도값이 나타났으며, 플라즈마 질화에 따라 물성 값의 향상이 나타났다. 용출실험결과 STS420합금의 경우 Fe, Cr원소의 용출이 나타나며 변색이 형성되었으나 STS630합금의 경우 그 현상이 미미하였다.

  • Carbon fiber-reinforced composites have excellent mechanical properties. However, the fracture toughness is a disadvantage due to brittle failure mode. The fracture toughness can be enhanced using hybridization with large-elongation fibers. In this study, polyamide (aramid) fibers are hybridized with carbon fiber with various stacking sequences. As a result, the Izod impact strength was enhanced by 63% with 25% aramid fiber hybridization. It is also shown that there is an optimal point in laminated composite hybridization, [CF/CAF2/CF]s stacking sequence.
