Adsorption of Nitrate and Phosphate onto the Dredged Sediment from a Coastal Fishery (연안어장 준설퇴적물에 대한 질산염과 인산염의 흡착)

  • In the present study, experiments have been performed to investigate the effects of the type of adsorbent, pH, and ionic strength on the adsorption of nutrients (nitrate and phosphate in artificial solution) onto the dredged sediment from a coastal fishery. In addition, this study aims to evaluate the possibility of removing the nutrients from the water using the dredged sediment. In the adsorption experiments of the nutrients, the reactions were completed within 10 minutes using ${NO_3}^-$-N($100{\mu}M$, 10mM) and ${PO_4}^{3-}$-P($100{\mu}M$, 10mM). In the steady state, 61% and 77% of the initial amounts were removed respectively for $100{\mu}M$ ${NO_3}^-$-N and $100{\mu}M$ ${PO_4}^{3-}$-P. The thermal treatment of the dredged sediment at $900^{\circ}C$ was not helpful to increase the removal efficiencies of the nutrients. Additives such as CaO and MgO dropped the removal efficiency of ${NO_3}^-$ to 0%, but increased that of ${PO_4}^{3-}$ up to 98%. Adsorption isotherms of ${NO_3}^-$ and ${PO_4}^{3-}$ could be explained by the Freundlich equation ($R^2$>0.99). The adsorption reaction was little influenced by the pH and ionic strength. Based on the results showing short reaction time and considerably high removal efficiencies of the nutrients, it is proposed to apply the dredged sediment from a coastal fishery to removing nutrients such as nitrate and phosphate in the water.

Accumulation of inorganic arsenic, and growth rate by changing of phosphate concentration in Hizikia fusiforme (인산염 농도 변화에 따른 톳(Hizikia fusiforme)의 무기비소(As (V)) 축적 및 생장률 변동)

  • In this study, we performed an analysis of the accumulation of inorganic arsenic and growth rate with changes in phosphate concentration in Hizikia fusiforme. When exposed to inorganic arsenic for fourteen days, we found that the collection of inorganic arsenic hardly increased at high phosphate concentrations (2 mg L-1). However, when the phosphate concentration was low (0.02 mg L-1), accumulation of inorganic arsenic increased. Additionally, H. fusiforme decreased in a growth rate of 14.5% in low phosphate concentration (0.02 mg L-1) and fell in a growth rate of 30% when exposed to inorganic arsenic (10 ㎍ L-1). H. fusiforme cannot distinguish between phosphate and inorganic arsenic. Thus, when phosphate concentration was lower, the inorganic arsenic accumulation increased, and accumulated inorganic arsenic inhibited photosynthesis and cell division, reducing the growth rate. H. fusiforme is known to have higher inorganic arsenic accumulation than other seaweeds. Therefore, various studies are needed to secure the food safety of H. fusiforme which is an essential aquaculture species in Korea.

Phosphate Adsorption of Youngdong Illite, Korea (영동 일라이트의 인산염 흡착 특성)

  • Mineral compositions were determined using quantitative X-ray diffraction analysis on the three kinds of Youngdong illite consisting of white, yellow and refined yellow samples. Mean particle size and their size distribution patterns were measured by laser particle size analyzer. The characteristics of phosphate adsorption on illite were studied through batch adsorption experiments. The white illite has less illite content, but is finer than that of yellow. The refined yellow illite has more illite content and finer particle size compared with those of raw yellow illite. The adsorption rate of phosphate generally increases when the mass of illite increases, whereas adsorption quantity decreases with ascending pH. The phosphate adsorption usually increases with ascending illite content or descending particle size. Although the white illite has lower illite content than the yellow, the former has higher phosphate adsorption quantity than the latter. This can be ascribed to the fine particle size, high interlayer charge, and low substitution in tetrahedral site of white illite. The adsorption isotherms of white illite are well fitted with the Langmuir equation, however those of yellow one are better with Freundlich equation.

Evaluation of Textural Properties of Low-salt Pork Shoulder Comminuted Meats with Transglutaminase under Phosphate Combinations (인산염 조합에 따른 Transglutaminase를 첨가한 저염 돈육 목심 세절육의 물성 증진 효과)

  • This study was performed to evaluate functional and textural properties of low-salt pork meat products treated with transglutaminase (TG) using sodium polyphosphate (STPP) and sodium pyrophosphate (SPP). In experiment 1, lightness and yellowness decreased (p>0.05), but moisture content and cooking yield (%) increased with increased salt level (p<0.05). Based on these results, at least 1.0% salt was required to manufacture comminuted pork meat without quality defects. The effect of STPP and SPP with TG in low-salt (1%) pork comminuted shoulder meat products was evaluated in experiment 2. pH values increased with the addition of phosphate (p<0.05), with pH values in treatments containing TG and PP alone or in combination being higher than those with STPP alone (p<0.05). Cooking yield of treatments with TG and phosphates was higher than those without phosphates, but lower than CTL (1.5% salt and 0.4% STPP; p<0.05). Springiness of pork comminuted meat containing SPP was higher than those of CTL (p<0.05). These results indicate that low-salt meat products can be produced by the combination of TG and phosphate either alone or in combination to maintain cooking yield and textural properties.

고정화된 pantoea aggromerans에 의한 불용성 인산염의 가용화

  • In this study, phosphate was produced through the solublization of hydroxyapatite and rock phosphate by Pantoea agglomerans, and it was examined the possibility of solublizing insoluble phosphate salt by immobilized P. agglomerans on Ca-alginate bead as support. 520mg/L of phosphate was solublized when P. agglomerans was cultured in HY meclium at $30^{\circ}C$, pH7, 100rpm, during 48hours culture. And solublized phosphate amount was 86.09mg/L when hydroxyapatite in the HY medium was exchanged to rock phosphate. In case of being used immobilized P. agglomerans. 740mg/L of phosphate was solublized in the HY medium, during 120hrs in the same condition. And 182mg/L of phosphate was solublized when rock phosphate was added instead of hydroxyapatite.

Phosphate Adsorption on Metal-Impregnated Activated Carbon (금속담지 활성탄의 인산염 흡착특성)

  • Oak wood based activated carbon was modified with surface impregnation of $Fe^{3+}$ and $Al^{3+}$ metal ions mixture for enhancements of phosphate adsorption capacity in aqueous solution. The phosphate adsorption capacity of the prepared metal impregnated carbon (MC) was about 8 times higher than that of the original activated carbon (OC). Adsorption equilibrium capacities of the phosphate increased with increasing system temperature. The adsorption equilibrium isotherm of phosphate on the prepared MC could be represented by the Langmuir equation. Thermodynamic parameters also indicated that adsorption system was spontaneous and endothermic reaction. The internal diffusion coefficient was measured to analyze the adsorption behavior and kinetic rate. To determine the internal diffusion coefficient, pore diffusion model (PDM) was employed and the result was in good agreement with experimental data.

축산물의 저알레르기화 처리

  • 본 연구에서 저알레르기 처리 공정은 Autoclaving, 가열처리, micro wave, dry heating, 초음파, 효소, 인산염, 천연효소, 가용화, 복합처리 등의 처리 공정으로 하였다. 저 allergy처리에서 allergy가 완전히 억제되는 것은 가열처리를 한 것으로 쇄양 B(추출액+가열 3분), autoclave 처리, micro파 처리, dry heating처리, 복합처리를 했을 때이다. 또한 천연효소(키위)를 침지한 후 tolergen과 같이 3분간 가열했을 때 allergy가 억제되는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 가열처리로 인한 단백질 구조 변성으로 이러한 결과를 보인 것으로 보인다. 인산염의 경우도 어느 정도 억제가 되는 것으로 보이고 있다. 나머지 처리들은 거의 효과를 보이고 있지 않다. 천연효소와 tolergen(쇄양)을 그냥 처리했을 때에는 allergy 억제효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 우유의 저 allergy 처리는 효소, autoclave, micro 파, NaOH 처리, 복합처리에서 감소되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 western blotting으로도 확인되었으며 그 억제율 %은 식육에서는 상당한 가열처리를 통하여 알레르기를 감소시킬 수 있는 것을 볼 수 있으며 또한 인산염, 가용화(NaOH처리)도 저 알레르기 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다. 키위, 쇄양 단독 처리 시 저 알레르기 효과가 없지만 약간의 가열을 통하여 알레르기가 감소됨을 알 수 있다. 우유는 효소나 autoclave 처리만이 저 allergy 효과가 각각 28%, 45%로 적게 나타났다. 모든 복합처리의 경우에서는 그 억제율이 41-96%로 높은 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다. 천연효소처리와 인산염 처리된 식육의 전자현미경적 관찰은 control과 비교시 조직의 변화가 없고 둘다 근육 단백질 구조를 분산시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 고기를 단계별 복합처리로 저 allergy 처리는 단계별로 점차적으로 allergy가 감소되었다. 즉 단계별로 억제가 안되는 것부터 억제되는 처리를 복합적으로 처리한 것으로 그 단계는 천연효소처리에 인산염 처리, 여기에 초음파 처리, 마지막 단계로 3분 끓이면 억제율이 68%까지 억제되었다. 이는 단일처리시 전혀 억제를 못하는 처리를 단계별로 한 단계씩 더해가면 allergy 억제효과가 나타난다고 할 수 있겠다. 초음파 처리도 역시 저 allergy 처리 공정에 이용될 수 있는데 이것은 그 처리로 인해 새로운 알러젠이 생성될 수도 있다. 또한 복합처리로 allergy를 감소시키면 연속적이고 동시적으로 하기 때문에 원가를 절감할 수 있다.

Study on the coating weight and corrosion resistance of Zinc phosphate for surface treatment of ammunition (탄약 표면 처리용 아연계 인산염 피막의 중량 및 내식성에 관한 연구)

  • Steel used for various industrial fields including ammunition is vulnerable to corrosion so surface treatments are required such as plating, painting and chemical conversion coating. Zinc phosphate, used for ammunition manufacturing, is used to stick the stable compound on the surface by chemical conversion of metal. The quality of phosphate coating depends on many factors such as total acidity and iron content. In this study, we studied the influence of total acidity and iron content on coating weight and corrosion resistance of phosphate coating. The surface structure of the coating becomes dense and corrosion resistance is improved with increasing iron content. However, total acidity influences only the thickness and phosphate coating weight. In conclusion, this study suggests the optimal range of total acidity and iron content to manufacture the ammunition.

A Study on the Mathematical Model of Cell Growth by Carrot Cell Suspension Culture (당근세포의 현탁배양에 의한 세포성장 모델연구)

  • In a batch fermentation process using carrot cell suspension culture, the effect of initial concentration of limiting nutrients(glucose and phosphate) on the specific growth rate and cell yield was investigated. The period of exponential growth is about 2 days and the consumption of glucose and phosphate in culture medium was very small when the initial concentrations of glucose and phosphate are 1.49g/1 ~ 3.01g/l and 0.08 ~ 0.32mM respectively. The specific growth rate of cells ranged from TEX>$0.15\;day^{-1}$ to $0.3\;day^{-1}$ irregularly. And the ratio of the initial concentration of glucose to phosphate did not affect the specific growth rate and the cell yield. The increase on cells had linear relationship with the consumption of limiting nutrients. Therefore, the increase of cells was found to be more influenced by the concentration of glucose than that of phosphate.

Effects of Phosphate Complex Treatment on the Quality of Dried Garlic Flakes (인산염 처리가 건마늘 플레이크의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to prevent browning during drying of garlic flakes, the effect of dipping in phosphate complex solution prior to drying on the development of brown pigment in the flakes were studied. The browning color development during drying of the flakes was greatly dependent on phosphate complex concentration and their dipping time. A reciprocal relationship between browning color formation and reducing sugar content of dried garlic flakes was found. The browning color development during drying of the flakes was effectively impeded by dipping in 0.3% phosphate complex solution for 3 minute. The reduction of pyruvate content during drying of the flakes was greatly influenced by phosphate complex concentration and drying temperature, and a maximum retention was acieved by 3 minute dipping in 0.2-0.3% phosphate complex solution. The dried yield of the flakes dipped in phosphate complex solution was 1.62-1.75% lower than control and it was mainly caused by the dissolution of soluble solids during dipping.
