Active Control of On-board Jitter Isolation for Spacecraft (인공위성의 내부 진동 분리를 위한 능동 제어 연구)

  • Active control of on-orbit spacecraft jitter is a significant problem for future spacecraft mission requiring stringent pointing performance. Jitter is major disturbance source degrading payload pointing performance. Both passive and active jitter isolation techniques have been studied during the last decade. We present active jitter isolation for a model device in this work. The device provides active control capability by 3 degree-of-freedom control of payload in feedback control strategy. Mathematical modeling of the device is pursued which is naturally used for a baseline controller design. Simulation results are used to validate the designed control law.

Design of Fault Isolator of Satellite Reaction Wheel System Using Dual Filter and Multi-hypothesis Extended Kalman Filter (이중 필터와 다중 가설 확장 칼만 필터를 적용한 인공위성 반작용 휠의 고장 분리기 설계)

  • One reaction wheel cluster of satellite usually has four reaction wheels. Each wheel is not arranged parallel to the attitude axis of satellite. Therefore, if one reaction wheel is broken, it is very hard to isolate the fault except using the sensors of wheel itself. In this paper, the isolator of satellite reaction wheel cluster is designed. Using a dual filter, FDP(Fault Detection Parameter) is made to detect fault, and using a multi-hypothesis extended Kalman filter, fault isolation of wheel cluster is done. We verify the improvement of isolation performance of wheel cluster by simulation with 4-reaction wheel cluster.

  • The well-used actuators for the attitude control of spacecrafts are thruster, reaction wheel, control moment gyroscope, and magnetic torquer. Among them, the control moment gyroscope(CMG) which generates the torque based on the gyroscopic principle in physics, has an advantage of the high torque output compared to the low power consumption. This paper introduces an outline of CMG hardware technology, its application history in spacecrafts, and their associated hardware characteristics. Moreover, its spin-off cases to the other industrial fields such as ship, robotics, and MEMS including their research trend are provided.

  • The interaction model between variable-speed control moment gyros and a satellite has been studied based on the multi-body dynamics. Using the interaction model, we could obtain data for the design of VCMG motors and the strength design of structure. The interaction effects of flexible modules such as solar panels were included. Flexible modes are excited by the satellite's maneuver, and these modes cause perturbations in the satellite attitude. We developed a simulation program by Modelica and verified the proposed model.

  • 본 논문에서는 소형 큐브위성의 전력시스템 구성품의 용량 및 위성의 운용로직을 설계할 수 있는 소프트웨어 테스트베드 설계 방법을 제시한다. 기존 초소형 인공위성 시스템 설계를 위한 소프트웨어가 개발되어 상용품으로 판매되고 있으나, 주로 자세제어 시스템의 제어기 설계를 위해 소프트웨어가 사용되고있고, 텍스트기반 복잡한 구조로 되어있어 본 논문의 목적인 전력계 구성품 용량 및 운용로직을 설계하는데 이를 활용하기 어려운 측면이 있었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 전력시스템의 구성품들을 전력 및 에너지 방정식으로 모델링하여 Matlab/Simulink에서 이를 구현함으로써 가독성을 높여 시스템 설계 및 분석 시간을 줄일 수 있는 소프트웨어 테스트베드 설계방법을 제시한다. 제안된 소프트웨어 테스트베드를 이용한 3리터 사이즈의 소형 큐브위성 시스템의 구성품 용량 및 운용로직 설계 결과를 본 논문에서 제시한다.

A Study on Satellite Alignment Measurements Accuracy Improvement (인공위성 정렬 측정 정확도 향상을 위한 연구)

  • Accurate alignment between high-performance payloads and attitude control sensors is essential factor to guarantee accurate attitude orientation and high pointing stability of the satellite. Space craft developers often use theodolite measurement system for satellite alignment during ground AIT(Assembly Integration and Test) phase. When measuring theodolite, errors may occur due to line of sight error, tilting axis error, vertical index error, and vertical axis error. In addition, errors that can occur during alignment measurements with multiple theodolites are analyzed through the alignment cube measurements test. Based on the alignment cube measurements test, a technical method that can improve the alignment measurement accuracy was suggested and it's measurements results satisfied the satellite design requirements.

  • A VSC law is derived for the attitude control of an orbiting spacecraft in the presence of disturbance and parameters variation using reaction jets. The switching surface was chosen to be a linear function of tracking error, its derivative and integral. Simulation results are presented to show that in the closed-loop system, precise attitude control is accomplished in spite of uncertainty in the system.

  • A spacecraft attitude control ground hardware simulator development is discussed in the paper. The simulator is called KT/KARI HILSSAT(Hardware-In-the Loop Simulator Single Axis Testbed), and the main structure consists of a single axis bearing and a satellite main body model on the bearing. The single axis tabel as ans experimental hardware simulator that evaluates performance and applicability of a satellite before evolving and/or confirming a mew or and old control logic used in the KOREASAT is developed. Attitude control of spaceraft by using reaction wheel is performed.

  • KSLV(Korea Space Launch Vehicle)-I is designed as a launch vehicle to enter a 100 kg-class satellite to the LEO(Low-Earth Orbit). Attitude angles of the upper-stage, including roll, pitch and yaw are controlled by cold gas thruster system using nitrogen gas. The thruster for the KSLV-I is the main pneumatic valve in the RCS(Reaction Control System). In this paper, the design, function tests, and environment tests of the thruster for KSLV-I are described. The developed thrusters are experimentally evaluated and successfully passed the required qualification and acceptance tests.

  • We introduce the error models for an attitude determination system(ADS) with gyroscopes and stellar sensor. The ADS error models are derived according to the definition of the reference frame and of the attitude error. The equivalent error models applicable to the attitude determination system with large attitude errors are presented. The simulation results show that the proposed error models improve performance of the attitude determination system.
