Constraints for the Design of Room Reverberation Filter by Using 5-DOF Reverberation Model (5자유도 잔향 모델을 이용한 실내 잔향 필터 설계를 위한 조건)

  • Recently, a 5-degrees-of-freedom (DOF) reverberation model was proposed as a method of representing subjective perception of reverberation as objective measures[1]. This model approximates sound energy decay curve by five objective measures, widely used in which have been concert hall acoustics. However, it is note worthy that there can be infinite number of impulse responses which correspond to a selected 5-DOF reverberation model. There may exist some filters making very unnatural and unrealistic sound. In this paper, the limitation of the 5-DOF reverberation model when it is used as a filter design criteria is investigated. When a 5-DOF reverberation model is given, additional constraints to get natural reverberation are suggested. This is based on the listening tests for several quite different source sounds.

Care as a Constitutional Value (돌봄: 헌법적 가치)

  • By examining care from a normative perspective projected in the Constitution of South Korea, this paper attempts to assess care from the standpoint of justice and establish the status of care as a concrete political value. The point that this paper focuses on in the Constitution is about the "human worth and dignity" and "right to pursue happiness" clauses of the Article 10 at the beginning of Chapter II which defines the rights and duties of citizens. The clauses of "human worth and dignity" and the "right to pursue happiness" are generally interpreted as the highest values of the constitutional order. While exploring the human dignity and the pursuit of happiness clauses in light of care, this paper intends to address the value of care as human dignity, which is the highest ideology and constitutional principle of the Constitution and, at the same time, the limitation of explaining the freedom to care with a liberal concept of freedom implied in the pursuit of happiness. Ultimately, this paper argues for the justification of putting 'care' in the Constitution. In the end, this paper aims to emphasize the significance of care as a guiding principle for the maintenance of our lives and society, a primary principle of social regulation and public governance, and a direction for a just state which can identify and rectify care injustices.

  • The judgement of 'Koreon Maritime Safety Tribunal'(KMST) influences criminal/civil trials, and thus the judgement must be decided very carefully. The Judge must bear in mind the Principle of Free Evaluation of Evidence is restricted by the admissibility of evidence, in dubio proreo and others. Also, empirical role must be used very carefully with strict proof. Therefore the reasons of the proof shall be expressed on the adjudication.

  • 본 논문은 인간의 보행에 대한 에너지 분석을 통해 biped robot의 설계 단계에서 최적의 보행제어인자를 추출하기 위한 연구이다. 에너지 효율이 높은 보행인자 값을 얻기 위해 인간의 보행영상을 획득하고, 획득된 영상을 5-link biped robot model로 근사화하여 dynamics와 energy를 분석한다. 또한 link의 길이 비율과 link의 무게, link의 관성의 변화를 통해 5-link로 근사화된 인간의 보행 효율과 기구적 요소 사이의 민감도를 판단할 수 있다. 인간과 자유도가 다른 biped robot이 인간과 같은 보행을 위하여 설계단계에서 고려되어야할 중요한 기구적 요소가 이러한 민감도를 통해 구해진다.

  • The respect for human dignity and worth is to purpose both the ideological premise and the guarantee of all the fundamental rights at the same time. Both freedom and rights which are necessary for obtaining those purposes should be guaranteed. "A human has dignity and worth as a human being" is that a nation exists for an individual between an individual and a nation. It declares democratic ideology. It becomes a ultimate standard to solve a problem of the interpretation of an article of a law and the effect of a law. The right to pursue one's happiness is necessary to persue one's happiness. The rights comprehensively covers even the freedom and the right without in an article of a law. It shows a positive rights like a social fundamental rights in a minimum level of a law. According to the precedent of the Constitutional Court, as the right to pursue one's happiness is in area of a common action, the free manifestation of the authoritative individuality, and self-determination in category, this study is to emphasize the importance of the right to pursue one's happiness throughout its meaning and the precedent of history legislation.

  • Since Aristotle, human capability has been understood as the form of existence. The capability is presupposed before execution in mainstream economics, Marx's capitalist labour process, even socialist labour process. Of course, Marx shows that the value of capability and execution is different in capitalist labour process. Also Marx points out heteronomy that producer can't have products as his own. Even socialist labour process can't cut off shackles of heteronomy. It is necessary to change way of thinking in order to cut off shakles of heteronomy and to develop human's full potential. The changing way of thinking is to restore labour into primary labour which is purpose as life itself not means. Human capability is potential. We can't define potential as the form of existence. Human capability is promoted by free will. True freedom promoting human capability is realized by rebuilding in individual property depending on distribution principle by the needs in the association of free individuals.

Democracy and Confucian Philosophy of South Korea in the 21st Century - Focusing on the issue of heteronomy and autonomy - (21세기 한국의 민주주의와 유가철학 - 타율성과 자율성의 문제를 중심으로 -)

  • The 10th constitution established in 1987 serves as the theoretical foundation of democracy in South Korea in the 21st century. Respect for human rights, resistance to injustice, and equality consciousness inherent in this constitution do not conflict with the content of Confucian philosophy. This means that the spirit of the constitution of South Korea in the 21st century was formed under the influence of the idea of democracy and Confucian philosophy. However, the 10th constitution attaches importance to the idea of the 'Basic free and democratic order', which was accepted in the Yushin constitution and inherited by the military forces. The Yushin constitution was affected by liberalism that prioritizes freedom over equality rather than supporting the compatibility between freedom and equality. Therefore, policies to expand the interests of the bourgeoisie rather than public welfare or the interests of the public have been implemented frequently. In particular, during the Lee Myeong-bak and Park Geun-hye regimes, many unequal phenomena were mass-produced. Confucian philosophy in the 21st century critically sees this unequal society. Confucian philosophy thinks that a sense of relative deprivation plays a role of alienating humans and emphasizes the importance of equal relationships. In addition, this constitution emphasizes the rule of law. However, the rule of law attaches importance to positive laws when the spirit of the constitution that contains natural law is applied to reality through systems. This rejects autonomous judgments and choices while inducing reliance on heteronomy. These heteronomous laws as such are accompanied by forcibleness. The positive laws as such can degrade humans into passive beings that indiscriminately adapt themselves to frames already set instead of active beings that think freely and creatively. Confucian philosophy regards and criticizes the rule of law as a system that makes humans into a means. Confucian philosophy regards humans as moral beings instead of tools. Confucian philosophy seeks to build a healthy society through morality accomplished through conscious realization of the principles of life. Confucian philosophy regards humans as originally free beings. Therefore, human beings are autonomous beings, not heteronomous beings. According to Confucian philosophy, humans beings that can realize the morality contained in their inner side by themselves to responsibly carry out their own judgments and choices. Therefore, Confucian philosophy, which considers human beings as beings to be trusted instead of beings to be distrusted, attaches importance to the realization of human decency through edification rather than by punishment through the law. This means that human values cannot be kept by the heteronomy termed positive laws but the identity of humans can be maintained by voluntary choices and judgments. As such, the comment of Confucian philosophy on the problems of liberal democracy and positive laws contained in the 10th constitution can be helpful in essentially solving the contradictions of modern South Korean society.

  • KUeyes(Korea University's eyes)는 인간의 시각 정보처리 과정을 모델로 하여 고려대학교 인공시각연구센터에서 개발된, 스테레오 컬러 영상을 실시간으로 처리할 수 있는 능동시각 시스템이다. 실시간 처리를 위하여 KUeyes는 병렬 처리가 가능하도록 개발된 영상 획득 및 영상 처리 모듈을 가지고 있으며, 다해상도 영상 변환 기법을 사용하여 입력 영상의 처리속도를 증진시키고 있다. 이 시스템은 외형적으로는 처리된 영상에 따라 반응하여 움직이는 10-자유도의 헤드 아이 시스템으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 영상의 칼라 정보와 움직임 정보 등을 실시간으로 분석하여 지능적이고 빠르게 개체를 탐지하고 추적하는 인간의 시각 반응 및 인식 모델을 KUeyes에 탑재하여 구현하고 실험하였다. 실험에서 얻어진 결과는 KUeyes가 인간의 시각, 인식시스템을 적절히 모델링하고 있음을 보여 주었다. 이는 KUeyes의 작동 방식과 거기에 탑재된 영상 처리 기법들이 인간의 시각 정보처리 과정을 이해하는데 매우 적합한 것임을 시사한다.

Freedom for the Sake of the Good: Plotinus' Concept of Freedom (좋음을 위한 자유: 플로티누스의 자유론)

  • The purpose of this article is to elucidate Plotinus' concept of freedom. Particular attention is paid to two terms, 'what is self-determined' (to autexousion) and 'what is up to us' (to $eph^{\prime}h{\hat{e}}min$), which Plotinus employs in order to articulate the meaning of freedom. It is shown that freedom in Plotinus consists in the power of doing whatever one wills while willing the good. We first situate Plotinus' concept of freedom in the Socratic tradition. Next we investigate how Plotinus and Alexander of Aphrodisias conceptualize freedom in terms of self-determination in the context of criticizing determinism. It is shown that Alexander tries to secure the psychological grounds for human moral responsibility by introducing a causally undetermined power of choice between alternatives. In contrast, Plotinus is interested in psychological conditions that allow humans to do the right thing. For this purpose, he establishes the concept of will ($boul{\hat{e}}sis$) as the power of wanting and choosing the best. We then try to clarify his claim that free will cannot choose otherwise by appealing to his concept of divine freedom, which idealizes the power of doing one's best and being oneself at one's best. Finally, we discuss Plotinus' view of the limitations and possibilities of human freedom and indicate its practical implications. In conclusion we claim that Plotinus pleads for an active way of living which spreads inner freedom out into the world, rather than living in seclusion so as to protect an inner freedom which is pure.
