This study is about the nationwide research concerning the degree and trends of marital conflict and instability. The research samples are 1,217 married. As the result of the research, the most conflict able issues in Korean couples are on the husband-wife relations, such as habitual differences, sharing in houseworks, conflicts in the role expectation, and the communication problems. In this study, We devide the marital relationships into 4 types (A, B, C, and D) in the view of the satisfaction & instability of marriage. First, the marriage with unsatisfaction and instability (A) was portioned 8.3%, and the satisfactory & stable type (D) was portioned 68.4%. It seems the marital relationships in Korea are relatively stable. However, the portion of type B-unsatisfactory, but stable couples-is 17.1% and the type C-satisfactory, but unstable marriage 6.2%. The result implies that the indication of marital instability should consider not only the divorce rate, but also the quality of marital relationships. In other words, the intervention for the conflict couples yet not divorce is needed. The differences of conflict areas among the relational types is not so much, but the degrees on conflicts are very serious. Especially, in the areas of marital conflict, love issues and personal value system affect the division of relational types of marriage most. It means the interaction factors are the most important variables about maintaining the marital relations with stable and satisfaction.

Subjects were composed of 47 male and female patients with conduct disorder(patients group), 113 general male and female students(normal group), and 173 juvenile prisoners(JP group). The Korean Form of the Family Environment Scale(FES) was used to assess the family environment of the subjects and the Korean Defining Issues Test(DIT) was used to assess the moral development. Conduct disorder was diagnosed with the DSM-III-R criteria for conduct disorder. The influence of familial environment and moral development on conduct disorder was analyzed with ANOVA and the differences among groups were verified with Scheffe test. There was no difference in the socioeconomic status and the physical abuse by the parents among the three groups. But the rates of divorce or separation of the parents were significantly highest in the JP group and higher in the patients group than in the normal group. Especially the subjects of the JP group experienced the divorce or separation of their parents during the preschool or the elementary school periods. In regard to the family environment, there was no difference among the three groups in the Subscales of Expressiveness, Independence, Intellectual-cultural orientation, Moral-religious emphasis, Organization, and Control. ‘Cohesion Subscale’ was significantly higher in the normal group than in the JP group. ‘Conflict Subscale’ was significantly higher in the JP and patients groups than in the normal group. ‘Achievement orientation Subscale’ was significantly lower in the JP group than in the patients and normal groups. ‘Activerecreational orientation’ was significantly lower in the normal group than in the JP and patients groups. In gegard to the moral developmental stage, the lower moral developmental step was higher in the JP and patients groups than in the normal group. The higher steps were significantly higher in the normal group than in the JP group. There was no significant correlation between the degree of ‘Moral-religious emphasis Subscale’ and the moral development. The clinical implication and limitation of present study were listed and discussed.
Most of the researches on the view of marriage from 1970s until now have merely been the status survey to get a glimpse of thoughts on the marriage of the time. It is true that the recognitions of marriage in the recent days, especially those of the youth are going through a great deal of changes. However, it is also recognized that although westernized views on marriage recently are flooding in, still the traditional perspectives are firmly rooted underneath. Therefore, this study intended to predict the potential conflicts from diversified marital perspectives of the youth in the contemporary society applying the Korean views on marriage as an effort to develop views on marriage in scientific way, analyze the psychological problems before and after marriage, and pursue successful marriage to form a stable and desirable family. As for the method, questions were selected by 275 university students and the validity and reliability of marriage views by 1,283 married couples were examined. As a result, the following conclusions were made. The scale for Korean marriage values were summarized to six factors - 'traditional marriage', 'successful marriage', 'irrationality of marriage', 'necessity of marriage', 'cohabitation', and 'divorce and remarriage', showing high correlation with the existing scales, and the reliability coefficient of each subscale indicated as comparatively reliable with the value of Cronbach α=.88 at Cronbach α=.63.

The therapeutic intervention to treat the couples in the crisis of divorce were facilitation of communication between husband and wife, husband's differentiation of self from family of origin, and understanding about the perspectives of family members. As results of therapeutic intervention, there were showed the spousal change of recognition to each other, husband's differentiation of self, wife's growth of self, and improvement of communication.
This study examined with a view to legal system how to get over the adaptation problem as well as protection of human right about the cases of marriage immigration have sharply increased in Korea through Globalization and this brought about serious matters to multi-cultural families : disguise marriage, contract marriage, frequent divorces, especially conflict, violence, maltreatment of couple is guaranteed efficiently include against mankind universal value regardless of race, class, region undergoing farm village female marriage immigrants by cultural difference. This study is when the families of the marriage immigrants are left unattended in the state of the crisis, it definitely seems to be a serious obstacle for social integration and cost vast social expense. Therefore, I suggest the problems of multi-culture family support law and improvement plans for Marriage bureau agency management law and nationality Act through a comparative method about legislation of each country which has dealt with a phenomenon called 'multi-cultural Society' and fact-finding of female marriage immigrants in Gwang-ju Metropolitan City, professing "the city of human right".
The purpose of this study is to analyze parental gatekeeping dimensions(control, encouragement, discouragement) and types of gatekeeping in the two families featured in the drama 「SKY Castle」. Of the 8 types of gatekeeping, the traditional gate blocker(high control, low encouragement, and high discouragement) most often described in the drama, creates a difficult situation for a father trying to participate in child rearing. But traditional gate blockers do not always unnecessarily limit father involvement. In father's coerecive and dictatorial environment, traditional maternal gatekeeping strategies protect her children and create secure environment. The facilitative gate openers(high control, high encouragement, and low discouragement) is the functional gatekeeping type. Because the mother's highly controlling and highly encouraging ways serve as a positive coparenting strategy, the facilitative gate maintain a high level of authority over the amount and type of father involvement.

Third, we must establish a complementary relationship between the state and the private sector. In conclusion, it should be full in order to solve the elderly problem in terms of social issues, not limited to the elderly problem in the elderly subject matter of an individual or family corresponds to publicize it as a social problem social preemptively.
In this study, to search for events that cause high levels of PTSD symptoms, traumatic events are classified into 'criterion events' that meet DSM-IV-TR criteria and 'life stresssful events', conditional probability of PTSD was confirmed. From a sample of 1,000 adults residing in South Korea, 998 statistically relevant samples were extracted. Criterion events include cases of 'sexual harassment before age 16', 'sightings of other accidents', 'rape before 16', 'domestic violence before 16', 'disaster', 'traffic accidents', 'other accidents'. Life stressful events appeared to be 'legal arrest or detention(person and family)', 'parental separation or divorce', 'failure or despair causing serious stress', 'extreme conflict with family or frequent quarrels'. Among the demographic characteristics, age, marital status, religion were found to affect PTSD symptoms. The implications and limitations of these results are discussed.
The school drop-out among the youth has grown to become a serious social problem since about 2000 and calls for an attention to its seriousness. Therefore, this study reviewed the statitistical reports and the previous empirical findings on the school drop-out and integrated to establish a comprehensive understanding of this social phenomenon. The main concepts and terminologies on school drop-out, the current statistics, the possible causal factors and the usual trajectory the youth take after dropping-out of school were discussed to conceptualize the issue. Analyses indicated 12 characteristics of the students who dropped out of school. Those 12 characteristics were restructured according to the ecological conceptual model. The social instability and the financial crisis in the 1990's has eroded the stability of the primary environments of adolescents such as family and school. The family breakdowns from divorce and other reasons weakened psychological and financial support for adolescents. The diminished authority of teachers and school over students exposed conflicts between teacher and students, students' loss of purpose and interest in academic attainment. The adolescents showed emotional reponses like increased level of depression, helplessness, aggression, indicated cognitive reponses such as the loss of purpose and interest in studying, a heightened sense of uncertainty of the future, and behavioral responses like sexual acting out behaviors, and bullying. The unmet psychological needs of adolescents result in run-away and school drop-out behaviors, which in turn progress into juvenile delinquency as the society fails to provide adequate and appropriate guidance and interventions. The intervention strategies at the national level were proposed and the limitations of the study were discussed.
A little understood but rapidly growing phenomenon in our society is remarriage. By 2002, 21% of marriage involved the remarriage of one or both partners. Furthermore, the ratio of remarriage of women has outnumbered the ratio of remarriage of men, which is remarkable change compared to the traditional culture putting a taboo on women's remarriage in Korea. The purpose of this study is to construct the perspective and the direction of programs for enhancing the remarriage family functioning. For the purpose, we explore the intrinsic vulnerability to family dissolution of remarriage and ill preparation for remarriage of people. There are unrealistic myths around, lack of informations on, absence of guideline for remarriage family life. Also, we discuss the process of remarriage family development, which leads us to the conclusion that the remarriage shows totally different family structure and family interaction from first marriage nuclear family. Based on discussion mentioned above, several suggestions are provided for developing programs for remarriage family functioning. Above all, the family developmental perspective on remarriage is more useful paradigm rather than deficit-comparison perspective for remarriage family. Also, the programs for remarriage family functioning should challenge the unrealistic myths around remarriage such as the instant love between step-parents and step-children, the re-created nuclear family, etc. Also, several points such as the remarried family developmental stage, the disparity in expectation of man and woman on remarriage, and the tendency to scapegoat a stepmother should be considered in programs for enhancing remarriage family functioning.
