A Study on Optimizing of Lane Departure Warning Application on the iPhone (아이폰 기반의 차선이탈경보 어플리케이션 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 안전주행지원 솔루션인 스마트폰용 차선이탈경보 애플리케이션의 실행 속도 향상 방법을 연구하였다. 이전 연구에서 스마트폰(iPhone 3GS) 기반의 차선이탈경보 어플리케이션을 개발하였는데 입력 영상의 처리 속도가 1.52fps였다. 본 연구에서는 영상 처리 속도를 향상시키기 위한 최적화 작업을 진행하였으며 기존의 차선이탈경보 어플리케이션의 차선인식 속도보다 프레임당 평균 0.4초 정도 단축되어 약 4fps 속도로 성능을 보였다. 향후 추가 연구를 통해 처리 속도를 좀 더 향상시킬 것이다.

  • The effect of substituent inleaving group on the rates of reactions of phenacyl substituted-benzenesulfonates with pyridine was determined conductometrically in acetonitrile and in methanol at 35, 45, and $55^{\circ}C$, respectively. The reaction rate became faster in proportion to electron-attracting ability of substituent, which indicates that the substituent in leaving group can directly control reaction rate. It was shown that the specific to the carbonyl carbon as the rate-determining step.

Adaptive Link Recovery Period Determination Algorithm for Structured Peer-to-peer Networks (구조화된 Peer-to-Peer 네트워크를 위한 적응적 링크 복구 주기 결정 알고리듬)

  • Structured P2P (peer-to-peer) networks have received much attention in research communities and the industry. The data stored in structured P2P networks can be located in a log-scale time without using central severs. The link-structure of structured P2P networks should be maintained for keeping log-scale search performance of it. When nodes join or leave structured P2P networks frequently, some links become unavailable and search performance is degraded by these links. To sustain search performance of structured P2P networks, periodic link recovery scheme is generally used. However, when the link recovery period is short or long compared with node join and leave rates, it is possible that sufficient number of links are not restored or excessive messages are used after the link-structure is restored. We propose the adaptive link recovery determination algorithm to maintain the link-structure of structured P2P networks when the rates of node joining and leaving are changed dynamically. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can maintain similar QoS under various node leaving rates.

  • When calculating an intersection collision speed using a formula, it is very difficult to grasp the degree of deceleration of a vehicle after the collision unless there is road surface trace in the entire section where each vehicle moved from the point of collision to their final positions after the collision. A vehicle's motion trajectory shows an irregular curve after a collision due to the effects of inertia based on the driving characteristics of the vehicle, the eccentric force according to the collision site, and the collision speed. Therefore, it is very important to set the appropriate departure angle after a collision for accurate collision speed analysis. In this study, based on experimental collision data using a computer simulation (PC-Crash), the correlation between an appropriate vehicle departure angle and the post-collision speed was analyzed, and then, a regression analysis model was derived. Through this, we propose a method to calculate collision speed by applying only the vehicle departure angle in some types of collisions for traffic accidents at intersections.

Development of a Lane Departure Warning Application on a Smartphone (스마트폰용 차선이탈경보 애플리케이션 개발)

  • The purpose of this research is to develop and optimize a lane departure warning application based on a smartphone which can be applicable as a new platform for various mobile information applications. Recently, a lane detection warning system which is a representative application among safe driving assistant solutions is being commercialized. Due to the necessity of powerful embedded hardware platform and its price, its market is still not growing. In this research, it is proposed to develop and optimize a lane departure warning application on iPhone 3GS. OpenCV is used for efficient image processing, and for lane detection a heuristic algorithm based on Hough Transform is proposed. The application was developed under Macintosh PC platform with Xcode 3.2.4 development tools, downloaded to the iPhone and has been tested on the real paved road. The experimental result has shown that the detection ratio of the straight lane was over 90% and the processing speed was 1.52fps. For the enhancement of the speed, a few optimization methods were introduced and the fastest speed was 3.84fps. Through the improvement of lane detection algorithm, additional optimization works and the adoption of a new powerful platform, it will be successfully commercialized on smartphone application market.

Experimental Investigation on the Droplet Entrainment in the Air-Water Horizontal Stratified Flow (물-공기 수평 성층류 유동조건에서 액적이탈 현상에 대한 실험연구)

  • In the high convective gas flow condition, irregular shaped water waves from which droplet entrainment occurs are generated under horizontally stratified two-phase flow condition. KAERI proposed a new mechanistic droplet entrainment model based on the momentum balance equation consisting of the shear stress, surface tension, and gravity forces. However, this model requires correlation or experimental data of several physical parameters related to the wave characteristics. In the present study, we tried to measure the physical parameters such as wave slope, wave hypotenuse length, wave velocity, wave frequency, and wavelength experimentally. For this, an experiment was conducted in the horizontal rectangular channel of which width, height, and length are, respectively, 40 mm, 50 mm, and 4.2 m. In the present test, the working fluids are chosen as air and water. The PIV technique was applied not only to obtain images for phase interface waves but also to measure the velocity field of the water flow. Additionally, we developed the parallel wire conductance probe for the confirmation of wave height from PIV image. Finally, we measured the physical parameters to be used in the validation of new droplet entrainment model.

  • Many technologies developed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These technologies are available to many users over the Web using the Web standard HTML5. As the content offered on the web increases, the number of users using the web increases and the importance of web speed increases. Because users expect the web page to load faster, as the web page loading speed increases, users will leave the page. That is, web page loading rates and page departure rates are proportional. Therefore, it is necessary to speed up web page loading by increasing the speed at which content is provided. In this paper, let's check through an experiment how it can be provided faster when providing images on the Web with regard to images that are one of the contents provided through the Web. Based on the results of these experiments, we want to identify faster ways to provider images over the web and provide images in that way to reduce page departure rates and provide more user-friendly services.

  • Lane extraction and lane departure warning algorithms using the image sensor attached in the vehicle are addressed. With the research about intelligent automobile, there have been many algorithms about lane recognition and lane departure warning system. However, since these algorithms require to detect 2 lanes, the high time complexity and the low recognition rate under various driving circumstances are critical problems. In this paper, we present a lane departure warning algorithm using single lane extraction and center point analysis that achieves the fast processing time and high detection rate. From the geometry between camera and objects, the region of interest (ROI) is determined and splitted into two parts. Hough transform detects the part of the lane. After the detected lane is restored to have a pre-determined size, lane departure is estimated by calculating the distance from the center point. On real driving environments, the presented algorithm is compared with previous algorithms. Experiment results support that the presented algorithm is fast and accurate.

  • This paper presents a multi-phase fluid simulation that realistically represents small scale details. We achieve this by creating escaped particles based on physical methods. Escaped particles are the remained particles after correcting levelset. Generation of escaped particles in this paper differs from previous works; this fluid simulation is extended by adding lift force and drag force to positive escaped particles. And negative escaped particles represent droplet or splash effect; when they are merged into the negative levelset value, they affect the nodes' velocity (two-way coupling). This simulation that uses positive and negative escaped particles deals with detailed fluid motions dynamically in small scale.

  • CW Doppler radar is capable of giving the relative velocity of an object using the Doppler effect. When detecting more than an object, frequency domain analysis is needed using CW Doppler radar and FFT. Even though the number of objects and velocities can be obtained within the frequency domain, there is a disadvantage that it is difficult to assess information on approach or deviation of an object. When detecting more than an object using FFT, this study suggests an algorithm for efficiently assessing information about approach or deviation of objects within the frequency domain. The proposed algorithm divides sections into real and imaginary numbers in the frequency domain, and then determines deviation if the total sum of the amplitudes of each frequency is on the left side and approach if the total sum of the amplitudes is on the right side.
