Quantitative Analysis of Patents Concerning Cathode Active Materials for Lithium-Ion Secondary Batteries Based on Layer Structure (층상구조기반의 리튬이차전지용 양극 활물질에 관한 특허정량분석)

  • This paper discusses quantitative analyses of patents published for cathode active materials for lithium secondary batteries based on layer structure. Numbers of the patents analyzed were 356, 1628, 2915, 439, and 611 for Korea, USA, Japan, Europe, and PCT (WO), respectively. Trends of improved technologies and alternative technologies concerning lithium cobalt, from 1991 to 2012 were examined and the patent shares distribution of each principal countries about lithium secondary battery technologies were also scrutinized. The number of patents for the mixed structure technology and next-generation lithium secondary battery technology increased numerously in 2000. Particularly in 2005, lots of patents were also published and SANYO (34.5%), SONY (17.5%), LG (7%), and SAMSUNG (5.5%) possessed leading patent applicants. Finally, the research focus on cathode active materials for lithium secondary batteries was confirmed by bubble chart distributions for component-by-step process.

Two dimensional analysis between the performance and the sensitivity of methylnitroimidazole derivatives (메틸나이트로이미다졸 유도체의 성능-감도 이차원적 분석)

  • Two-dimensional analysis between the explosive performance and the impact sensitivity for methylnitroimidazole derivatives was performed to understand where these new energetic molecules could be utilized. The explosive performance was analyzed with the Cheetah program, while the impact sensitivity was predicted using neural network analysis. Successive nitration of methylimidazole made the molecule more sensitive, but methyltrinitroimidzole appeared to have a relatively good safety characteristic. We recently developed a novel method to analyze the potential usage of new energetic molecules using a two-dimensional chart, where the explosive performance and the impact sensitivity were located on the X-axis and Y-axis, respectively. An analysis of a two-dimensional plot between the performance and the sensitivity indicated that methyldinitroimidazole would be useful for insensitive explosive formulations, while methyltrinitroimidazole was forecasted for use as an ingredient for high explosive formulations.

Impurity analysis of Ta films using secondary ion mass spectrometry (이차이온 질량분석기를 이용한 탄탈 박막내의 불순물 분석)

  • Ta films were deposited on Si (100) substrates at zero substrate bias voltage and a substrate bias voltage of -125 V ($V_{s}$ = -125 V) using a non-mass separated ion beam deposition system. To investigate the effect of the negative substrate bias voltage on the impurity concentration in the Ta films, secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) was used to determine impurities in the Ta films. By the SIMS depth profiles with $Cs^{+}$ cluster ion beam, high intensities of O, C and Si were clearly found in the Ta film at $V_{s}$ = 0 V, whereas these impurities remarkably decreased in the Ta film at $V_{s}$ = -125 V. Furthermore, from the SIMS result with $Cs^{+}$ and $O_2^{+}$ ion beams, it was found that applying the negative substrate bias voltage could affect individual impurity contents in the Ta films during the deposition. Discussions concerning the effect of the negative substrate bias voltage on the impurity concentration of Ta films will be described in details.

Automatic Defect Detection and Classification Using PCA and QDA in Aircraft Composite Materials (주성분 분석과 이차 판별 분석 기법을 이용한 항공기 복합재료에서의 자동 결함 검출 및 분류)

  • In this paper, we propose a ultra sound inspection technique for automatic defect detection and classification in aircraft composite materials. Using local maximum values of ultra sound wave, we choose peak values for defect detection. Distance data among peak values are used to construct histogram and to determine surface and back-wall echo from the floor of composite materials. C-scan image is then composed through this method. A threshold value is determined by average and variance of the peak values, and defects are detected by the values. PCA(principal component analysis) and QDA(quadratic discriminant analysis) are carried out to classify the types of defects. In PCA, 512 dimensional data are converted into 30 PCs(Principal Components), which is 99% of total variances. Computational cost and misclassification rate are reduced by limiting the number of PCs. A decision boundary equation is obtained by QDA, and defects are classified by the equation. Experimental result shows that our proposed method is able to detect and classify the defects automatically.

  • This paper introduces a new collision attack on first-order masked AES. This attack is a known plaintext attack, while the existing collision attacks are a chosen plaintext attack. In addition, our method is more efficient than the second-order power analysis and requires about 1/27.5 power measurements by comparison with the last collision attack. Some experiment results of this paper support this fact. In this paper, we also introduce a simple countermeasure, which can protect against our attack.

An Analysis of the Effect of Density of the Joint Research Network between Countries on Technology Diffusion: focusing on the case of secondary battery and the electric vehicle field (국가 간 공동연구 네트워크 밀도가 기술 확산에 미치는 영향 분석: 이차전지, 전기자동차 분야 사례를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how a joint research network between countries affects the diffusion of technology information and how much countries with high centrality on the network accept new technology and to seek their meaning. With this aim, the joint research network density between countries by year and the number of participating countries were measured using thesis information regarding the secondary battery field and the electric vehicle field, and a regression analysis of relevant variables was conducted. As a result of the analysis, the greater the joint research network density in the secondary battery field, the higher the number of participating countries in a linear relationship. Also, on the joint research network, countries with high degree centrality were discovered to have led development in the mid to large size secondary battery field. Meanwhile, for the electric vehicle field, although there appeared no increase in the network density value, the number of participating countries was found to have increased. This was analyzed that joint research between countries was not a necessary and sufficient condition although it played a crucial role in promoting technology diffusion. Such a result is meaningful in that it verified promoting factors for essential technology diffusion statistically; however, with this research, there exist limitations that the index of a central role on the network was measured only with degree centrality and that only the relationship between two players was measured for network density in interactions between players. Accordingly, it is necessary to carry out research into a method to measure interactions among multiple researchers in the future.

Experimental Study on Flow Characteristics in Meandering Channel (사행수로에서 흐름 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In order to investigate characteristics of the primary flow and the secondary currents in the meandering channel, laboratory experiments were conducted in the meandering channel made up of alterative bends haying 120。 arc angle. Experiments were performed in two types of cross-sections, a rectangular cross-section and a curved cross-section which was made to adopt a beta probability function. Three-dimensional velocity fields were measured using a micro-ADV. As the result of experiments, in case of the rectangular cross-section, the primary flow occurred taking the shortest course, which is similar to the result of previous researches. In case of the curved cross-section, the primary flow was expected to occur along the thalweg. but it occurred almost along the shortest way. This is considered due to effects of bottom roughness and sinuosity Not only a main cell but also a secondary cell of secondary currents were clearly shown by mean of the stream function. The secondary current intensity has the maximum value near the apex of the second bend for cases of both rectangular and curved cross-sections. However, the value of the secondary current intensity for the curved section is slightly larger than that for the rectangular cross-section. Also, in case of the rectangular cross-section, the higher the ratio of width to depth is, the larger the secondary current intensity is.

A Qualitative Study on the Burnout and Secondary Traumatic Stress Experience of Social Workers who Worked in Trauma Centers (트라우마 센터에서 근무한 사회복지사의 소진과 이차적 외상 스트레스 경험에 관한 질적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a substantive theory that understand the burnout and secondary traumatic stress experience of social workers who worked in the trauma centers. This research was conducted by Grounded Theory. The result is as follow: In the initial coding, 159 units of mean, 47 subcategories, and 12 main categories. The central phenomenon of the initial coding was 'the wounded existence.' In the focused coding, the core category was 'seeking to recover professional identity as a social worker.' In the theoretical coding, the burnout and secondary traumatic stress experience of social workers who worked in the trauma centers were classified as four phases;'Commitment to the mission', 'Conflict', 'Stagnant' and 'Disruption'. Based on the findings, the preparation for the disaster social work practice, the perspective on "social healing" of trauma, and the necessity of the mandatory policy or intervention for social workers self-care were discussed.

  • Energy storage systems (ESSs) have been utilized widely in the world to optimize the power operation system and to improve the power quality. As lithium secondary batteries are the main power supplier for ESSs, it is very important to predict its cycle and power degradation behavior. In particular, the power, one of the hardest electrochemical properties to measure, needs lots of resources such as time and facilities. Due to these difficulties, computer modelling of lithium secondary batteries is applied to predict the DC-IR and power value during charging and discharging as a function of state of charge (SOC) by using pulse-based measurement methods. Moreover, based on the hybrid pulse power characteristics (HPPC) and J-Pulse (JEVS D 713, Japan Electric Vehicle Association Standards) methods, their electrochemical properties are also compared and discussed.

Evaluation of Spatial Distribution of Secondary Compression of Songdo Marine Clay by Probabilistic Method (확률론적 방법을 이용한 인천송도지반 이차압축침하량의 공간적 분포 평가)

  • Settlement at reclamation area caused by secondary compression should be considered using spatial evaluating method because the thickness of consolidation layer varies at every location. Probabilistic method can be implemented to evaluate uncertainty of spatial distribution of secondary compression. This study spatially evaluated mean and standard deviation of secondary compression in the overall analyzing region using spatial distribution of consolidation thickness estimated by ordinary kriging method and statistical values of soil properties. And then, the area where secondary compression exceeds a design criterion at the specific time was evaluated using probabilistic method. It was observed that the area exceeding the design criterion increased as the variability of $C_{\alpha}/(1+e_o)$ increased or the probabilistic design criterion 0: decreased. It is considered that the probabilistic method can be used for the geotechnical design of soft ground when a probabilistic design criterion is established in the specification.
