Maximum Power Output Condition of the Binary Power Cycle Composed of Two Carnot Cycles (이중 동력 사이클의 최대 출력 조건)

  • The power output behavior of the binary cycle composed of two Carnot cycles is analyzed with considering heat transfer processes, in which the finitely constant temperature differences between heat sources and working fluids exists. The power output has the maximum value as an extremum for cycle temperatures and capacities of heat exchangers. In the internally reversible cycle, the power output is independent of the cycle temperature in the intermediate heat exchanger. In this case when the total capacities of heat exchangers are given, three heat exchangers have the same capacities at the maximum power output condition. In addition, when the cycle is not extremum for cycle temperatures and capacities of heat exchangers. At the maximum power output condition, the capacity of heat exchanger at the cold side is slightly more than the hot side as the cycle effectiveness decreases.

  • Because of the growing interest in supercritical carbon dioxide power cycle technology owing to its potential enhancement in compactness and efficiency, supercritical carbon dioxide cycles have been studied in the fields of nuclear power, concentrated solar power (CSP), and fossil fuel power generation. This study introduces the current status of the research project on the supercritical carbon dioxide power cycle by Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER). During the first phase of the project, the un-recuperated supercritical Brayton cycle test loop was built and tested. In phase two, researchers are designing and building a supercritical carbon dioxide dual Brayton cycle, which utilizes two turbines and two recuperators. Under the simulation condition considered in this study, it was confirmed that the design parameter has an optimal value for maximizing the net power in the supercritical carbon dioxide dual cycle.

  • A two-loop Rankine cycle for engine waste heat recovery of gasoline vehicle has been investigated. Water-steam cycle as a high-temperature (HT) loop for exhaust gas heat recovery and R-134a cycle as a low-temperature (LT) loop for both heat recovery of the engine coolant and the residual heat from the HT loop were considered. Energy and exergy analysis was performed to investigate the performance of the system. Because two volumetric expanders are used for the HT and LT loop, the sizes of two expanders are very important for the optimization of the system. The effects of pressure ratio of the HT loop, considering the size of the HT expander, and the condensation temperature of LT loop on the performance of the system at a target engine condition were investigated. This study shows that about 20% of additional power from the engine waste heat recovery can be obtained at the target engine condition.

  • Scaled model of a dual-mode ramjet engine with large backward-facing step, as a component of the rocket-based combined cycle engine, was designed. Design parameters were derived for this engine with the consideration of application for the rocket-based combined cycle engine. Design methodology was established for these design parameters. The design was partially verified through numerical study. Flow characteristics of the dual-mode ramjet engine with large backward-facing step was investigated experimentally. The design methodology for relevant design parameters established in this study was verified as feasible.

  • 이 논문은 에지와 정점에 고장이 있는 이중 루프 네트워크의 해밀톤 성질을 고려한다. 이중 루프 네트워크 G(mn;1,m)은 m$\times$n 그리드 그래프에 에지를 추가한 4-정규 그래프이다 m과 n이 모두 짝수인 이중 루프 네트워크G(mn;1,m)은 고장난 요소(에지와 정점)의 수가 1이하인 경우에 해밀톤 연결되어 있고, 고장난 요소의 수가 2이하인 경우에 항상 해밀톤 사이클을 가짐을 보인다.

  • 최근 들어 제품의 최종 처분매립지에 대한 어려움과 주변 환경오염 등이 크게 문제시되고 있다. 가정용 전기제품은 동(銅)$\cdot$알루미늄$\cdot$철(鐵)$\cdot$글라스 등 재이용가치가 있는 소재로 구성되어 있으며 이중에는 앞으로 채굴에 한도가 있는 금속류도 포함되어 있다. 원재료 제조과정에서의 에너지 삭감이란 입장에서도 머티어리얼 리사이클이 필히 추진되어야 할 것이다. 사용필 가전제품에서 환경영향물질의 회수와 리사이클효율을 향상시켜 해체작업자의 육체적 부담을 경감시키는 자동화 공정이 아래와 같이 이미 개발되었다. $\cdot$장척물$\cdot$중량물의 반송에 대하여 자동화가 이루어졌다. $\cdot$제품 분해와 부품분리작업을 위한 자동기계가 개발되었다. $\cdot$리사이클 처리에서의 제품품종 및 제조연대의 다양함에 대하여, 제품구조 데이터베이스의 구축과 작업결과의 자동등록이 이루어졌다. $\cdot$작업원의 수작업은 극히 일부로 한정되어 있다. $\cdot$특수작업에 관한 데이터베이스에서 작업요령이 제시된다. $\cdot$실증운전을 통하여 제품구조 데이터베이스는 충분히 축적되었다. $\cdot$형식데이터의 축적에 따라 작업시간 단축효과가 확인되었다. $\cdot$제품구조$\cdot$재료선택에 관한 많은 경험이 축적되었다.

Advanced Dual Refrigerant Expansion Cycle for LNG Liquefaction (천연가스 액화용 이중 냉매 팽창 사이클)

  • This paper presents a LNG Liquefaction cycle configuration using two stages of methane expansion (i.e. spliting into two stages as warm & cold to generate an additional inflection point within a cold composite curve) and a single stage of nitrogen expansion to improve the efficiency of the conventional Methane & Nitrogen Expansion Cycle. In comparison with Double Nitrogen Expansion Cycel and Methane & Nitrogen Expansion Cycle, the cycle efficiency has increased approximately from 13.92 and 13.13 to 12.08 kW/ton/day (8~15% efficiency increase). A Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis based on Net Present Value (NPV) also show an improvement in therms of project NPV, against a minor increment of a CAPEX.

  • Recently proposed organic flash cycle (OFC) was shown to potentially improve power generation using low grade heat source. In this paper, a thermodynamic performance is carried out for a modified OFC employed double expansions. Effects of the selection of working fluid and the important system parameters such as the temperatures in flash evaporators on the system performance were extensively investigated. Results showed that the system performances are strongly influenced with the system parameters and selection of the working fluid, and the power generation can be increased compared to the basic OFC.

  • 슈퍼캐패시터(Super Capacitor) 또는 울트라 캐패시터(Ultra Capacitor) 등으로 불리우는 전기 이중층 캐패시터(EDLC, Electric Double Layer Capacitor)는 기존 콘덴서보다 월등한 용량 특성을 가지며, 전극과 전해질의 화학반응을 이용하던 이차전지들과 달리 주로 계면반응을 사용한 축전원리를 이용하여 높은 출력밀도와 충방전 효율, 무제한에 가까운 사이클 특성을 가지고 있다. 또한 전류변화에 안정적이어서 기존의 이차전지와는 달리 보호회로를 생략할 수 있기 때문에 단순한 회로 구성이 가능하고 전극활물질로서 탄소재를 사용하여 환경 친화적인 특성을 가진 차세대 에너지저장장치라고 할 수 있다. 특히 50만 사이클이라는 우수한 수명특성으로 인해 기존의 이차전지가 사용되기 어려운 다양한 분야에 적용이 늘어가고 있는 추세에 있다.

  • An analytical study based on physical understandings and aero-thermodynamic theories was conducted to observe the performance characteristics and to derive the essential design parameters of dual ramjet(dual-combustion/dual-mode) propulsion for wide Mach number. The performances and operating limitations of the engines with two types combustors, such as constant pressure- and constant area- combustor, over various flight Mach numbers was investigated. Finally, the transition Mach number from ramjet to scramjet was carried out to optimize performance load balancing of ramjet and scramjet.
