  • Objectives : Informations on pulse diagnosis in literature are based on diagnosing pulse waveforms on supine posture. However, today's pulse waveforms are measured on various postures for the convenience of patients or doctors. For objective measurement, the effect of posture on the pulse waveforms should be considered. The objective of this study was to find posture-related changes in the radial pulse waveforms. Methods : We used an instrument, DMP-3000(DAEYOMEDI Co., Ansan, Korea), measuring radial pulse waveforms noninvasively by tonometric method. 25 male subjects participated in the trial. Before measuring radial pulse waveforms subjects had rest for 5 min. The pulse waveforms were measured on the left wrist. Each subject underwent this course on the supine, sitting, and standing posture. We analyzed pulse waveforms with Height-parameters, Time-parameters, Energy, and Elastic rate. Results : Height-parameters(h1~h5) on the supine posture were bigger than those on the sitting and standing posture. In case of Time-parameters, the parameters making up systolic time decrease in order of on standing, sitting, and supine position. However, systolic time and diastolic time didn't have any changes. Energy of pulse was the biggest on supine posture and Elastic rate on standing posture. Conclusions : In this study we found that posture changes affect radial pulse waveforms. For quantification of the changes, more trials should be done. After analyzing much data we might apply parameters of pulse waveforms changed by posture. Also, we might diagnose special disease with properties of pulse waveforms by posture.

  • Objectives: The information on the depth where pulse wave appears is as important as pulse waveform. The aim of this study was to classify pulse pattern using pressure-height(P-H) volume-curve by 5 applied pressure levels to find out the information on the depth of pulse and interpret the floating & sinking pulse in oriental medical pulse diagnosis. Methods: We used 3 dimensional pulse imaging analyser (DMP-3000, DAEYOMEDI Co., Korea), which measures radial pulse waveforms noninvasively by way of tonometric method at 5 applied pressure levels, and shows P-H volume-curves by applied pressure. 448 subjects were enrolled, pulse waveforms were measured and the P-H volume-curves were gained on the three locations of Chon, Kwan, and Cheok. Results: Gained P-H volume curves were classified into 3 types ; increase type, decrease type, and increase-decrease type. Increase-decrease type appeared more often on Chon and Kwan, while increase type appeared more often on Cheok. In a few cases, decrease-type appeared on Chon and Kawn, however it never appeared on Cheok. Conclusions: Through the classification of pulse by P-H volume-curve, we gained the information on the depth of pulse. We speculate the decrease type as floating pulse, the increase-decrease type as middle pulse, and the increase type as sinking pulse in oriental medical pulse diagnosis. After more researches on P-H volume-curve by applied pressure, the P-H volume-curve may be used as an important factor for pulse diagnosis.

  • As industries developed, industrial goods have got more precise. It led producers to feel like having a way to confirm whether the goods are good enough for the needs of consumers or not. Because of that, producers got interested in industrial photogrammetry that can get accurate data quickly with non-confect method. therefore, this study was examined by photographing an O-2A aircraft which was a large and precise one to check the application of Industrial photogrammetry. To measure the aircraft, the check points, that was attached to it was used as it was not possible to measure the aircraft by its design. The experiment was carried out in three parts considering arrangement of the check points and measured with Pro-spot to check any deformation of its external form. As a result, this study enables us to conferm a state of the aircraft alignment promptly and to provide accurate data for producers, which helps them to make a decision.

  • The COMS satellites take image of the Korean Peninsula every 15 minutes, but due to the limitations of the observational channels, they tend to underestimate when estimating rainfall. In this study, we developed satellite-based rainfall estimation technology using COMS and GPM that can be used in the heavy rain on the Korean Peninsula. The time resolution and spatial resolution of COMS satellites and GPM satellites were matched to improve accuracy using GPM IMERG data. As a result, it showed that the number of correlations with the ASOS observations was more than 0.7, enabling the estimation of rainfalls that are more accurate than the estimates of rainfall by COMS satellites. It is believed that the application of the subsequent satellite(GK-2A) will provide more accurate rainfall estimation information in the future. Therefore, we expect greater utilization in disaster management for the ungauged areas.

  • Recently, image-based object detection has made great progress with the introduction of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Many trials such as Region-based CNN, Fast R-CNN, and Faster R-CNN, have been proposed for achieving better performance in object detection. YOLO has showed the best performance under consideration of both accuracy and computational complexity. However, these data-driven detection methods including YOLO have the fundamental problem is that they can not guarantee the good performance without a large number of training database. In this paper, we propose a data sampling method using CycleGAN to solve this problem, which can convert styles while retaining the characteristics of a given input image. We will generate the insufficient data samples for training more robust object detection without efforts of collecting more database. We make extensive experimental results using the day-time and night-time road images and we validate the proposed method can improve the object detection accuracy of the night-time without training night-time object databases, because we converts the day-time training images into the synthesized night-time images and we train the detection model with the real day-time images and the synthesized night-time images.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to consider the effect of skin tissue necrosis by improving blood flow in animal skin models for low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (LF_PEMF) stimulation. Methods: Twenty rats (Wistar EPM-1 male, 280-320 g) were randomly divided into control groups (n=10) and the PEMF groups (n=10). To induce necrosis of the skin tissue, skin flap was treated in the back of the rat, followed by isolation film and skin flap suturing. Subsequently, the degree of necrosis of the skin tissue was observed for 7 days. The control group did not perform any stimulation after the procedure. For the PEMF group, LF_PEMF (1 Hz, 10 mT) was stimulated in the skin flap area, for 30 minutes a day and 7 days. Cross-polarization images were acquired at the site and skin tissue necrosis patterns were analyzed. Results: In the control group, skin tissue necrosis progressed rapidly over time. In the PEMF group, skin tissue necrosis was slower than the control group. In particular, no further skin tissue necrosis progress on the day 6. Over time, a statistically significant difference from the continuous necrosis progression pattern in the control group was identified (p<0.05). Conclusions: It was confirmed that low frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (LF_PEMF) stimulation can induce relaxation of skin tissue necrosis.

  • The purpose of this study was to observe cell death in human keratinocytes stimulated against the infectious cytokines TNF-α and IFN-γ, and to observe the expression of Phospho-NF-κB due to phosphorylation of IkB to confirm the mechanism of inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines. As a result of cell viability analysis, differences in PEMF stimulation time were observed little by little after 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours, but there was no statistical significance according to PEMF stimulation time for each time (p>0.05). No significant difference was observed in the total amount of NF-κB present in the cytoplasm and nucleus, but a significant decrease in the expression of phosphorylated NF-κB was observed in the group exposed to PEMF stimulation for 24 hours (*p<0.05). The expression of IL-1β was observed in all inflammation-induced groups, and the concentration of IL-1β compared to α-Tubulin expression was reduced by about 54% in the PEMF-stimulated group for 24 hours compared to the control group (***p<0.001). As a result of the study, it is shown that PEMF stimulation does not negatively affect HaCaT cells from 0 to 48 hours and can inhibit the expression of inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the pathway of NF-κB.

  • Much research in core technologies has been done to make it possible the ubiquitous video services over various kinds of user information terminals anytime anywhere in the way the users want to consume. In this paper, we design plototypesystem architecture for the ubiquitous TV program content consumption based on user preference via various kinds of intelligent information terminals in digital home environment, and present an implementation and testing results for the prototype system. For the system design, we utilize the TV Anytime specification fur the consumption of TV program contents based on user preference in TV programs, and also use the MPEG-21 DIA (Digital Item Adaptation) tools which are the representation schema formats in order to describe the context information for user environments, user terminal characteristics, user characteristics for universal access and consumption of the preferred TV program contents. The proposed ubiquitous content mobility prototype system is designed to make it possible to seamlessly consume contents by a single user or multiple users via various kinds of user terminals for the TV program contents they watch together. The proposed ubiquitous content mobility prototype system in digital home environment consists of a home server, a display TV terminal, and an intelligent information terminal. We use 42 TV programs contents in eight different genres from four different TV channels in order to test our prototype system.

  • At existing skin detection methods using skin color information defined based on the prior knowldege, threshold value to be used at the stage of dividing the backround and the skin region was decided on a subjective point of view through experiments. Also, threshold value was selected in a passive manner according to their background and illumination environments in these existing methods. These existing methods displayed a drawback in that their performance was fully influenced by the threshold value estimated through repetitive experiments. To overcome the drawback of existing methods, this paper propose a skin region detection method using a histogram approximation based on the mean shift algorithm. The proposed method is to divide the background region and the skin region by using the mean shift method at the histogram of the skin-map of the input image generated by the comparison of the similarity with the standard skin color at the CbCr color space and actively finding the maximum value converged by brightness level. Since the histogram has a form of discontinuous function accumulated according to the brightness value of the pixel, it gets approximated as a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) using the Bezier Curve method. Thus, the proposed method detects the skin region by using the mean shift method and actively finding the maximum value which eventually becomes the dividing point, not by using the manually selected threshold value unlike other existing methods. This method detects the skin region high performance effectively through experiments.
