A Study on the Searching Behavior of Web-based OPAC Users (웹기반 온라인목록의 이용행태 연구)

  • The primary questions addressed by this research are the followings: Has the interface of a Web-based OPAC been improved more user-friendly; How about its searching abilities; What difficulties have Web-based OPAC searchers experienced in using a Web OPAC; How do they perceive the system after use of it. Finding the answers of those questions the problems of a Web OPAC as a searching tool have been grasped and recommendations have been suggested in order to improve the system. An experiment was conducted and 30 university students performed 8 searching tasks. The searching behavior of Web OPAC searchers has been analyzed thoroughly. The data of their perceptions about the system was collected through a questionnaire after completing the tasks.

Tweens' Information Needs and Information Practices on YouTube (초기 청소년들(Tweens)의 정보요구와 유튜브(YouTube)에서의 정보추구행태)

  • The purpose of the research is to find out both what information tweens (12~14 years old adolescents) need and how they use YouTube to satisfy with their information needs. In order to achieve the goal, the research collected the data by conducting a survey on tweens (N=130) and analyzed the data with statistical processes. The research found out some significant results: first, tweens frequently use the informaton on YouTube and search for leisure information most often. Second, tweens search for information on YouTube because of ease and convenience on learning information even though they do not trust the information on YouTube. Third, tweens regard that YouTube play the role as a significant information source and searching tool, and use information on YouTube because the information on YouTube are composed of easy-to-understand video format. On the basis of the results, the research suggests and discusses how information organization such as public or school libraries provide information services for youth groups effectively.

Development of Lane-changing Model for Two-Lane Freeway Traffic Based on CA (Cellular Automata 기반 2차로 고속도로 차로변경모형 개발)

  • The various behaviors of vehicular traffic flow are generated through both car-following and lane-changing behaviors of vehicles. Especially lane-usage varies by lane-changing behaviors. In the area of microscopic vehicle simulation, a lane-changing model connected to a car-following model parallel is essential to generate both various traffic flows relationships and laneusages. In Korea, some studies on car-following models have been reported, but few studies for lane-changing models stay in the beginning stage. In this paper, a two-lane changing model for the simulation modeling of large freeway network is introduced. The lane-changing model is developed based on CA (Cellular Automata) model. The developed model is parallel combined with an existing CA car-following model and tested on a closed link system. The results of simulation show that the developed model generates the various behaviors of lane usage, which existing CA lane-changing models could not generate. The presented model is expected to be used for the simulation of more various freeway traffic flows.

Uncertainty Study: Information Seeking Behaviors of Doctoral Students in Business Management (정보행태 불확신성에 관한 연구 - 경영학분야 박사과정 연구자들을 중심으로 -)

  • Using grounded theory, this study investigated users' information seeking behaviors associated with their perceptions of uncertainty. Based on a theoretical sampling, 17 doctoral students in the field of business management were recruited. Data was collected through the methods of questionnaire, interviewing, and think-aloud descriptions. The results identified user perceptions of uncertainty in the following stages: identification of information needs, selection of information systems, selection of search terms, actual use of systems, and evaluation of search results. In addition, positive aspects of uncertainties were presented. Major implications relate to information system and service improvements.

A Contextual Study of Public Transport Information Service Use Behavior in Daily Activity (일상 활동에서의 상황변수를 고려한 대중교통 정보서비스 이용 유형 연구)

  • It has become important to have some proper guidelines of how to provide public transport information services in response to the rapid IT developments and the wide spread of public information services. The current study takes a contextual approach to the analysis of public transportation information use under a dynamic decision situation, complementing the conventional cross-sectional approaches. Using the CHAID of decision tree induction based on decision table formalism applied to the survey data of activity travel and information use, the study found that the information type and medium choices are strongly affected by the decision contexts in addition to the individuals' socio-demographic characteristics. The results suggest an important implication to the market segmentation of information services for public transportation.

The Effects of User Experience on Facebook Acceptance Behavior and Advertising Acceptance Behavior (사용자 경험이 페이스북 수용행태와 광고 수용행태에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of user experience on Facebook acceptance behavior and advertising acceptance behavior. For the study, a survey was conducted among 367 male and female college students who use Facebook. In the results, first, functionality, usability, and pleasurable had positive effects on Facebook attitude, usability and pleasurable on flow, and reliability, usability, and pleasurable on the intent for continuous use. Second, functionality had a negative effect on advertising invasiveness while pleasurable had a positive effect on advertising attitude and no significant effect on advertising avoidance. The findings in this study provide basic data that can be used by various companies that use Facebook and advertising on Facebook for developing marketing strategy. In addition, future studies are expected on considering various variables related to user experience.

Analyzing Undergraduate Nursing Students' Electronic Document Use and Document Reading Behavior (간호학과 학생들의 전자형태 문서이용 및 문서읽기행태에 대한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze undergraduate nursing students' electronic document use and reading behavior. To do this, a survey questionnaire was collected from 509 respondents who experienced reading behavior for the last semester. The results of this study show that nursing students' preference of electronic documents is higher than that of printed documents in general. They also prefer electronic documents to printed documents when they want to keep documents. Of respondents, about 94% or higher spent 30mins or more to find information and the main source to find information is 'Naver' search engine as the highest information source, and the place to access information is 'Home' as their highest information access location. In particular, the preference of the document 'on the move' is electronic documents and the main reason includes convenience and easiness to access and move the documents. The findings of this study expect to facilitate the understanding of undergraduate nursing students electronic document use and reading behavior so that it can be used to design and develop medical digital library services and tools more effectively and efficiently in medical area in the future. Furthermore, it expects to provide useful data in promoting user services in digital library in a whole.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 스마트 교육을 위한 수해양 전공학생과 일반고 학생의 스마트폰 활용 행태를 비교하고 그 차이를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 일반고 학생과 수해양 관련 전공 계열의 학생 총 2,725명을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과 스마트폰 활용 행태에서 수해양 전공 학생들은 음악듣기, 동영상 감상, 시간보기, SNS, 학습 이외 정보검색 등의 순으로 나타났다. 일반고 학생들은 음악듣기, 동영상감상, 학습 이외 정보검색, 시간보기, SNS 등의 순으로 나타났다. 스마트폰 활용 행태 차이의 상위 세 항목은 게임, 19세 이상사이트 이용, 웹툰에서 비교적 큰 평균차이가 나타났다.

Ordered Probit Model Of Speed Selection Behavior (순서형 프로빗모형을 이용한 속도선택행태에 관한 연구)

  • 지난 30여년간 운전자의 속도선택의 행태에 대하여 많은 연구가 이루어졌다. 그러 나, 과거 대부분의 연구는 운전자의 개별적인 특성과 제한속도에 대한 운전자의 인지 정도 를 고려하지 않고, 다만 운전자의 속도선택과 도로 및 차량간의 상호 관련성에 중점을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 운전자, 차량 및 통행특성 등의 요인을 고려하여 운전자의 속도 선택에 대 한 행태를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 운전자의 속도 자료와 설문자료를 조사한 수, 두 가지 자료를 범주형 자료로 구분하여 Ordered Probit Model을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분 석결과 i) 고소득의 남성운전자가 고속의 주행 행태를 보였으며, 운전경력이 많은 운전자일 수록 높은 속도를 선택하는 것으로 나타났다. ii) 차량에 관해서는 배기량이 높은 차량일수 록 고속의 속도를 나타낸 반면에 안전장치가 많은 차량의 경우에는 저속의 주행속도를 보이 는 것으로 나타났다. iii) 통행 특성 면에서는 일일통행거리가 중요 변수인 것으로 나타났다. iv) 운전자의 심리적 측면에서는 운전자가 인식하고 있는 제한 속도가 또한 중요변수로 분 석되었다.
