Measures to Improve the Efficacy of Road User-Centered VMS Traffic Information Offering (도로이용자 중심의 VMS 교통정보 제공 효용성 향상 방안)

  • The variable message sign (VMS) is equipment to improve the efficiency of traffic flow and safety of travel by providing real-time information to road users on traffic, road, weather situation, and traffic control due to construction. The information messages of the letter-based VMS taking up most of the VMS on the general national highways consist of section, travel time in sections, and road control situation. This study devised an improvement plan centered on road users, not road managers-centered existing message-based VMS through an analysis of road users' preference targeting the letter-based VMS operated in the general national highways in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. By presenting the measure for system improvement through which information on unexpected situations that road users prefer the most can be quickly and efficiently provided, this study aims to improve the efficiency of road user-centered VMS traffic information.

  • 본 연구는 정보검색시스템에서의 이용자 인터페이스 효용성을 높이기 위하여 시도된 연구를 다각적으로 조사하였다. 특히 질의어처리 인터페이스, 탐색처리 인터페이스, 탐색수정 인터페이스를 중점으로 한 탐색관련 인터페이스 기능과 어휘 브라우즈, 이전 탐색 브라우즈, 탐색결과 브라우즈와 같은 브라우즈 관련 인터페이스 기능에 대하여 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 인터페이스의 새로운 기능과 앞으로의 경향도 기술하였다.

  • The purpose of advanced traffic information system(ATIS) is to help drivers save time and energy in getting to their destinations by providing traffic information through variable message sign(VMS), internet, traffic broadcasting and mobile phones. ATIS does not just provide drivers with benefits in terms of time and energy, but it provides them with psychological benefit as well, i.e., the drivers can relieve their anxiety by getting provided with traffic information. In this study, the efficiency of traffic information system is evaluated and degree of satisfaction of drivers with the system is analyzed by building satisfaction models of various media of traffic information. Each medium has different factors for satisfaction and each factor has different degree of influence, but in general, the efficiency of traffic information in helping drivers choose routes and in providing drivers with peace of mind is considered to have the highest influence on satisfaction of drivers with the system.

  • This study reviews various aspects of design of user interfaces in interactive information retrieval systems. Specially the study examines, 1) search related interfaces such as query processing, search strategies, and multilingual processing, and 2) browsing related interfaces such as document browsing and search result browsing. The main goals of this review are to characterize user interface techniques in information retrieval systems and to suggest potential future research direction and challenges.

  • To effectively cope with new and different types of disasters, it is very important to communicate and update disaster information to the public quickly and efficiently. SNS enables rapid spread of information and continuous exposure. SNS enables two-way communication by directly communicating with users. SNS complements the shortcomings of mass media, and increases the effectiveness of disaster management work. This study analyzed user awareness and requirements to derive effective methods of SNS operation of disaster management institutions. For this purpose, a user survey was conducted to identify the types of information that are highly user-interested and to select information items suitable for SNS services. Through this, we suggest ways to improve the SNS disaster record information service of the disaster management institution.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic information necessary for the establishment of mobile service marketing strategies, educational service development, and engineering education for Generation Z by analyzing the utilitization of various applications by Gen Z. To this end, 177 essays on mobile service usage experience were collected, major topics were analyzed using topic modeling, and these were visualized through word cloud analysis. As a result of the study, the main topics were related to 'transportation' such as movement and public transportation, 'personal management' such as schedule management, financial management, food management, 'transaction' such as checkout, meeting, purchase, 'leisure' such as eating out, travel, study, culture. Additionally, words such as time, thought, people, life, bus, information, confirmation, payment, KakaoTalk, and so on were found to have a high of frequency of use. Also, there was found to be a difference between topics by college. This study is meaningful in that it collected essays, which are unstructured data, and analyzed them through topic modeling.

  • At present, an intelligent transport system (ITS) is being actively introduced as an alternative plan to solve various transport problems, and a traffic information provision service, a field of ITS, is being provided to users through diverse media. However, the evaluation of how useful the traffic information provided to the road users is limited to a simple questionnaire, and the systematic evaluation about what factors affect the usefulness of traffic information has not been realized. Therefore, it is impossible to calculate user convenience occurring due to traffic information, This paper aimed to develop an index to evaluate user satisfaction levels with traffic information and develop a user satisfaction level model. A result of establishing a user satisfaction level model by executing a questionnaire survey for the analysis object of variable message sign (VMS), a representative information provision medium, showed that 'desire satisfaction', 'trust', 'understanding', and 'efficiency' have an effect. Of them, the 'understanding' showed the highest level, so it was seen that, in case of VMS, how easily the character, figure, expression, etc. provided in the information was understood by users has the biggest effect on the satisfaction level of the information. The next levels of effects on the satisfaction was in the order of 'user trust', 'efficiency', and 'desire satisfaction'.

  • 기하급수적으로 늘어나는 인터넷상의 정보, 이를 이용하는 이용자의 증가와 더불어 웹 탐색도구의 수도 그만큼 증가추세에 있다. 웹 탐색도구가 1994년 처음 개발된 이래 이제까지 웹 탐색도구의 개발자들은 개발자체에 초점을 맞추어왔다. 그러나 성공적인 시스템은 시스템의 자체성능도 중요하지만 이를 이용하는 이용자들이 이해하기 쉽고 이용하기에 편리한 웹 탐색도구로 개발하는 것은 시스템의 효용성 측면에서 더욱 중요한 문제이다. 이에 본 연구는 계명대학교 학생을 대상으로 각 유형별로 가장 잘 그 유형을 대변하는 탐색도구를 선정하여 이를 직접 탐색케 함으로써 이를 토대로 웹 탐색도구를 이용하는 이용자그룹간의 이용능력과 이용행태 및 그들의 평가를 분석하였다.

  • The e-commerce market is growing faster as demand for non-face-to-face shopping increases due to COVID-19. These changes lead to the expansion of various opportunities for consumers, but companies are required to understand consumer characteristics and reflect them in their sales strategies so that they can be competitive in the market. This study examined how the perceived ease and utility of consumers affect the intention to use the platform according to the technology acceptance model (TAM). As a result, it was confirmed that the price competitiveness, awareness, and ease of use of the platform had a significant effect on the utility. In addition, it was confirmed that there was no moderating effect of user characteristics on the effect of ease of use on the platform intention. These results present important implications for a company's sales strategy, and in future studies, it is necessary to expand the study in consideration of more diverse variables.

  • In the current information environment, the concept of a website has been transformed from the repository of information to means of accessing information which can communicate and interact with users. To function well as an accessing tool to information, the information embedded in a website should be organized in a way that users can easily understand the whole informational structure. This aspect of a website might be more important to a university's website. However, the informational structures which current university's websites adopt do not reflect their users' information needs. They construct their structure uniformly, and it causes the decrease of the websites' usability. To solve these problems, this study proposes a new and systematical way of constructing a university's website which can reflect users' information needs and ensure the usability of the websites.
