Biological removal capacities for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were determined using a yeast strain, Candida tropicalis. In this study, VOCs including toluene, benzene, p-xylene, and styrene as single substrates or mixtures were tested in the batch culture of the yeast strain. In addition, a kinetic model was applied to evaluate substrate interactions between the VOCs. The yeast strain was able to biodegrade each VOC effectively as a growth substrate, implying it could applied to wide range of VOCs. When the yeast strain was subjected to VOCs in mixtures, the biodegradation rate of one substrate were either increased (stimulated) or decreased (inhibited) by the presence of the others. Both benzene and toluene were inhibited by the other VOCs, and substrate interaction parameters estimated in the model indicated that styrene was the strongest inhibitor for the benzene and toluene biodegradation. Meanwhile, the biodegradation of p-xylene and styrene was stimulated by the presence of either benzene or toluene. The biodegradation rate of p-xylene was significantly increased especially by the presence of toluene, and the styrene biodegradation was enhanced greatly by the benzene addition. The results of the substrate interaction by the yeast strain suggest that the biodegradation rates for the VOCs in mixtures should be carefully evaluated. Furthermore, the competitive inhibition coefficient could be applied as a useful index to determine the substrate interaction
The effects of whole wheat flour on the Rheological Properties of dough gassing power of yeast S.cerevisiae and breadmaking properties were studied. The blending ratios of whole wheat flour to bread making flour were 0, 25, 50, 75 and water absorption in the farinography increasedlinerly from 62.5%in 100% bread making flour and 77.5% in 100% whole wheat flour. The hardness and cohesiveness of dough prepared with optimum moisture content was constant regardless of the blending ratio of whole wheat flour. whole wheat flour had no effect on the total gas production or the internal gas content in the dough at a constant moisture level but had detrimental effect on the loaf volume. In a dough at the optimum moisture level, whole wheat flour increased the two former parameters sensory evaluation indicated that the replacement in the range of 25 to 50% with whole wheat flour at the optimum moisture level was acceptable

The interaction network of protein -protein plays an important role to understand the various biological functions of cells. Currently, the high -throughput experimental techniques (two -dimensional gel electrophoresis, mass spectroscopy, yeast two -hybrid assay) provide us with the vast amount of data for protein-protein interaction at the proteome scale. In order to recognize the role of each protein in their network, the efficient bioinformatical and computational analysis methods are required. We propose a systematic and mathematical method which can analyze the protein -protein interaction network rigorously and enable us to capture the biological and physical essence of a topological character and stability of protein -protein network, and sensitivity of each protein along the biological pathway of their network. We set up a Laplacian matrix of spectral graph theory based on the protein-protein network of yeast proteome, and perform an eigenvalue analysis and apply a perturbation method on a Laplacian matrix, which result in recognizing the center of protein cluster, the identity of hub proteins around it and their relative sensitivities. Identifying the topology of protein -protein network via a Laplacian matrix, we can recognize the important relation between the biological pathway of yeast proteome and the formalism of master equation. The results of our systematic and mathematical analysis agree well with the experimental findings of yeast proteome. The biological function and meaning of each protein cluster can be explained easily. Our rigorous analysis method is robust for understanding various kinds of networks whether they are biological, social, economical...etc

With increasing underwater structure construction, there is high interest in offshore foundation and underwater grout and various study has been done in this area. For grout materials constructed underwater, it may be washed away by water or easily disturbed and material separation phenomenon during curing period always happens. As a result, it is difficult to ensure construction quality and this has a significant influence on the design strength of structure. In this study, to understand application effects of anti-washout admixture for the preplaced construction method, where grout is injected in monopile after filled with aggregates, laboratory tests on bleeding and compressive strength of anti-washout admixture were performed under various test conditions varying size of aggregate, water and cement ratio and admixture, and test results were compared and evaluated.
Hijab as a symbol of women's oppression due to the opening and reform of Islamic State group, is becoming more diverse as younger generation begins to dress more freely than ever before, spreading the perception that it is a fashion item. In response, this research conducted a theoretical review about the history of hijab, various forms of hijab, and characteristics of hijab using relevant literature, media reports, and fashion media articles. As an empirical study, image-oriented photo data shared by Tehran Street Fashion from 2015 to November 2019 were analyzed separately by fashion majors into color, pattern, and hijab-making forms. According to the analysis, six different fashion images were categorized as romantic feminine, modern chic, natural elegant, classic formal, sporty casual and gorgeous ethnic. For Muslim women in the past, hijab was worn as a repressive and closed sense by the religious system. However, in modern times, it is a way to express one's style and ideas as a fashion item. It is also and a means to express one's thoughts and beliefs. Through aesthetic consideration of Hijab as a fashion item, it was found that it was a medium for freedom of expression and a medium for beauty and individuality.
Pleurotus ostreatus No.42, known as the ligninolytic basidiomycetes, showed production of MnP and Lac, but did not show any LiP acitivity in static culture, grown in GPYW liquid medium. Maximum production of MnP (80U/flask) was observed on day 11 of culturing in this medium. Chromatographic purification of MnP included the use of Sepharose CL-6B and Mono-Q. The major MnP isozyme purified by column chromatography was observed to be a 36.4 KDa (single band on SDS PAGE). The 19-amino acid sequence from the N-terminal was determined by protein sequencing to be ATCADGRTTANAACCVLFP. The N-terminal sequence of the major MnP isozyme of P. ostreatus No.42 was found to be the same as a previously reported sequence of an MnP3 isozyme from this fungus.
The separation and purification of succinate are necessary for the succinic acid production by a fermentation process. Among the purification processes, desalination of succinate is inevitable. In this work, electrodialysis was selected as a desalination method and its operating parameters affecting the degree of desalination and energy consumption were examined. Commercialized electrodialysis apparatus was used in this work and its optimum operating parameters were determined by using design of experiment (DOE) method. Voltage, concentration of succinate, and pH were selected as main parameters. Among them, voltage seemed to be the most important one. The final conversion of succinate to succinic acid was calculated when the operating parameters were optimized. Finally, the effect of impurities, such as corn steep oil, yeast extract, and dextrose on the electrodialysis efficiency was also studied.
Racetrack coils are used in many areas of superconductivity applications such as generators, motors, maglev, wiggler magnets and so on. The fabrication and characteristics of race-track type High Tc Superconducting (HTS) magnets were carried out. The Magnet is composed of 3 pancake coils wound by 37-filamental Bi-2223/ Ag-alloy tapes. Quench current ($I_q$) of both whole magnet and 3 pancake coils were measured. At 77K under the self-field, $I_q$ of magnet was 12A, while in the case of middle pancake coil, $I_q$ was 15A. The upper pancake coils of racetrack magnet with iron plates, magnet having optimized current distribution and initial magnet are compared with each other through 3D FEA, manufacturing and testing these magnets. The measured performance of the upper pancake coil #3 with iron plates improved by 50% on the basis of initial pancake coil #3. Quench current ($I_q$) of field winding was 12A. In addition, the fabrication processes and the characteristics of HTS magnet are described.
The air injection nozzle tube was inserted inside of the tubular membrane module to reduce membrane fouling and improve the permeate flux. The average pore size of membrane was $0.1\;{\mu}m$ and the yeast was used as a foulant. All of permeate experiments were started without air injection for the module equipped with the nozzle tube, then carried out continuously with air injection. Finally, the nozzle tube was removed from the module and the permeate was measured without air injection. The measured permeate fluxes were compared to examine the effect of air injection. The fluxes for air injection were consistently maintained or increased. The fluxes of no-air injection with the nozzle tube were greater than those of the empty tubular module. As operating pressure decreased to 0.4 bar, the flux enhancement of air injection based on no-nozzle case increased to 21%. Flux enhancements of air injection were above 30% as the gas/liquid two-phase flow was changed from the stratified-smooth to the intermittent pattern due to increase of gas flowrate.

This paper considers a probability density estimation problem of climate values. In particular, we focus on estimating probability densities of summer extreme temperature over South Korea. It is known that the probability density of climate values at one location is similar to those at near by locations and one doesn't follow well known parametric distributions. To accommodate these properties, we use a mixture of conditional autoregressive species sampling model, which is a nonparametric Bayesian model with a spatial dependency. We apply the model to a dataset consisting of summer maximum temperature and minimum temperature over South Korea. The dataset is obtained from University of East Anglia.
