A Study on the Characteristic of Machined Surface by High Speed Ball End Milling (고속 볼 엔드밀링의 가공면 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, high productivity and cost reduction becomes the most important target of industries due to the worldwide economic competition. One of these efforts is High Speed Machining(HSM), which reduces machining time with the increase of machining speed such as cutting speed and feedrate. It is very important, especially in case that the portion of machining time in production cost is high. This research suggests optimum cutting conditions to reduce cutting time with minimizing term error. For this study, a comprehensive model representing the texture of machining surface is developed, including rubbing phenomenon on the tip of ball end mill and expanded fibbing zone trajectory caused by tool deflection. Experiments show that the suggested set of feed and pick feed is optimum for maintaining the surface roughness identified by rubbing and low cutting speed in minimum.

Design and Implementation of Back-stepping Control for Path Tracking of Mobile Manipulator of Logistics and Manufacturing (물류이송 및 제조용 이동형 매니퓰레이터의 경로 추적을 위한 백스테핑 제어 설계와 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose a modified back-stepping control method in view of the dynamic model of mobile manipulator has the nonholonomic constraints, these constraints should be considered to design a tracking controller for the mobile manipulator. The conventional back-stepping controller includes the dynamics and kinematics of the mobile robot systems. and the modified adaptive back0stepping method is applied to constructing the controller. The proposed controller can realize the tracking trajectory of the reference path. The efficiency and robustness of this control method is demonstrated by the simulation.

Re-Analysis of Clark Model Based on Drainage Structure of Basin (배수구조를 기반으로 한 Clark 모형의 재해석)

  • This study presents the width function-based Clark model. To this end, rescaled width function with distinction between hillslope and channel velocity is used as time-area curve and then it is routed through linear storage within the framework of not finite difference scheme used in original Clark model but analytical expression of linear storage routing. There are three parameters focused in this study: storage coefficient, hillslope velocity and channel velocity. SCE-UA, one of the popular global optimization methods, is applied to estimate them. The shapes of resulting IUHs from this study are evaluated in terms of the three statistical moments of hydrologic response functions: mean, variance and the third moment about the center of IUH. The correlation coefficients to the three statistical moments simulated in this study against these of observed hydrographs were estimated at 0.995 for the mean, 0.993 for the variance and 0.983 for the third moment about the center of IUH. The shape of resulting IUHs from this study give rise to satisfactory simulation results in terms of the mean and variance. But the third moment about the center of IUH tend to be overestimated. Clark model proposed in this study is superior to the one only taking into account mean and variance of IUH with respect to skewness, peak discharge and peak time of runoff hydrograph. From this result it is confirmed that the method suggested in this study is useful tool to reflect the heterogeneity of drainage path and hydrodynamic parameters. The variation of statistical moments of IUH are mainly influenced by storage coefficient and in turn the effect of channel velocity is greater than the one of hillslope velocity. Therefore storage coefficient and channel velocity are the crucial factors in shaping the form of IUH and should be considered carefully to apply Clark model proposed in this study.

Analysis of Contaminant Transport in the Ground using the Lattice-Boltzmann Method (격자 볼츠만 방법에 의한 지반 내 오염물질의 거동 분석)

  • The conventional approach to evaluate the contaminant transport in soils adopts the macro-scale implementation while the pore configuration and network is a dominant factor to determine the fate of contaminant. However, the observation of fate and transport at pore scale may not be readily approachable because of the computational expenses to solve Navier-Stokes equation. We herein present the 2D Lattice-Boltzmann method that enables to assess the local fluid velocity and density efficiently for the case of single phase and multi-components. The solute fate spatio-temperal space is explicitly determined by the advection of fluid flow. Two different types of idealized pore space provides the path of fluid. Also, solute transport, the velocity field and average concentration of solute are computed in steady state. Results show that the pore geometry such as tortuosity mainly affect the solute fate. It highlights the significance of the pore configuration and shape in granular soils and rock discontinuity in spite of the equivalent porosity.

Relationship Between Flat End-mill Shape and Geometrical Characteristics in Side Walls Generated by End-milling Process (엔드밀링 공정에 의하여 생성된 측벽의 기하학적 특성과 평엔드밀 형상 사이의 관계)

  • This paper presents the effects of the tool shape on the geometrical characteristics of flat end-milled side walls. A tool shape is characterized by such parameters as helix angle, number of cutting edges, and diameter. The geometrical characteristics of the side walls are represented by the surface profiles in the feed and axial directions, which are orthogonal to each other. The geometrical defects in each direction are estimated based on the instantaneous apparent cutting areas, which are represented by the interference area between the tool and workpiece and that between the cutting edge and workpiece. It is confirmed that a geometrical defect in the feed direction is formed when the tool leaves the workpiece and the curvature of the tool path changes. Defects in the axial direction are also found in the side walls, except for the defect zone in the feed direction. An up-cut using an end-mill with a steeper helix angle, a greater number of cutting edges, and a smaller diameter are thus found to improve the geometrical accuracy of end-milled side walls.

Stratification Effects in a Reservoir on Turbidity Distribution (저수지의 성층현상이 탁도분포에 미치는 영향)

  • 몬순지역에 속한 우리나라의 대부분 저수지에서는 여름철 집중호우시 탁수가 유입되므로, 저수지 수질관리를 위해 고탁수층의 진행경로, 시공간적 분포, 그리고 방류량조절 등에 의한 탁수저감효과를 예측할 필요성이 있다. 저수지의 성층현상이 임하호의 탁도분포에 미치는 영향을 검토하기 위하여 월별 수온분포가 검토되었고 또한 수리 및 수질모형 CE-QUAL-W2를 이용하여 2차원 수치모의가 수행되었다. 임하호의 6월 수온분포는 표층은 $24^{\circ}C$이고 심층은 $6^{\circ}C$이고 중층은 비교적 선형으로 변화한다. 8월달 수온 분포는 표층의 수온은 $30^{\circ}C$정도이고 심층은 심층은 $6^{\circ}C$이고중층은 $22^{\circ}C$에서 $18^{\circ}C$이고 2개의 수온약층이 존재한다. 6월과 8월의 중층수온분포를 비교해보면 6월은 상대적으로 수온변화가 크고 8월은 수온변화가 작으므로 중층에서의 이송확산이 8월에 보다 활발할 것으로 판단된다. 임하호 성층현상이 탁도분포에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 6월과 8월의 수온분포의 경우에 대하여 임하호 유역에 80 mm와 120 mm의 총강우량이 발생한 경우에 대하여 수치모의를 수행하였다. 초기 저수위는 El. 148 m와 El. 152 m의 조건을 적용하였다. 수치모의결과는 2002년 태풍루사의 경우에 대하여 검증하였다. 수치모의결과는 다음과 같다. 탁수층 선단이 댐체에 도달하는 시간은 초기 저수위가 높고 중층의 수온분포가 상대적으로 균일한 8월이 긴 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 유입수가 저수지로 유입되면서 초기수위가 높은 경우에 운동량이 상대적으로 많이 소멸되기 때문으로 판단된다. 또한 탁수층의 두께도 8월 성층의 경우가 상대적으로 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이는 중층의 8월 수온분포 또는 밀도분포가 상대적으로 균일하기 때문에 연직방향 이송$\cdot$확산이 많이 이루어졌기 때문으로 판단된다.

Feedrate Optimization Using CL Surface (공구경로 곡면을 이용한 이송속도 최적화)

  • In mold machining, there are many concave machining regions where chatter and tool deflection occur since MRR(material removal rate) increases as curvature increases even though cutting speed and depth of cut are constant. Boolean operation between stock and tool model is widely used to compute MRR in NC milling simulation. In finish cutting, the side step is reduced to about 0.3mm and tool path length is sometimes over loom, so Boolean operation takes long computation time and includes much error if the resolution of stock and tool model is larger than the side step. In this paper, curvature of CL (cutter location) surface and side step of tool path is used to compute the feedrate for constant MRR machining. The data structure of CL surface is Z-map generated from NC tool path. The algorithm to get local curvature from discrete data was developed and applied to compute local curvature of CL surface. The side step of tool path was computed by point density map which includes cutter location point density at each grid element. The feedrate computed from curvature and side step is inserted to new tool path to regulate MRR. The resultants were applied to feedrate optimization system which generates new tool path with feedrate from NC codes for finish cutting. The system was applied to the machining of speaker and cellular phone mold. The finishing time was reduced to 12.6%, tool wear was reduced from 2mm to 1.1mm and chatter marks and over cut on corner were reduced, compared to the machining by constant feedrate. The machining time was shorter to 17% and surface quality and tool was also better than the conventional federate regulation using curvature of the tool path.

Analysis of Microplastic Transport in the Paldang Reservoir Using MPT-Q3D (MPT-Q3D를 이용한 팔당호 내 미세플라스틱 거동 분석)

  • 직경 5 mm 이하의 미세플라스틱은 인류 활동에 의해 생산되어 하수처리장 처리수, 우수토구, 도로 분진 등 다양한 경로를 통해 하천에 유입되고 있다. 하천에 유입된 미세플라스틱은 하천흐름을 따라 하류로 이동하여 해양환경에까지 이른다. 미세플라스틱은 수체를 따라 이동할 뿐 아니라 수생생물에 의해 섭식되기도 하여 인체 위해성이 우려되는 상황이다. 특히 서울과 경기도의 주요 상수원인 팔당호는 북한강, 남한강, 경안천이 유입되어 형성되기 때문에 미세플라스틱의 유입에 따른 이송-분산 거동 평가가 중요한 영역이다. 본 연구에서는 준3차원 입자추적기법을 이용한 미세플라스틱 거동해석 모형, MPT-Q3D를 개발하였으며 팔당호 내 미세플라스틱의 거동 특성을 분석하였다. MPT-Q3D 모형은 2차원 흐름해석모형과 연계한 입자의 준3차원 거동해석을 위해 step-by-step computation method를 적용하였으며, 전단류에 의한 입자의 수평거동과 난류확산에 및 침강속도에 의한 연직거동 두 단계 계산과정에 따라 입자의 거동을 해석했다. 전단류는 2차원 흐름해석결과로부터 유속의 연직분포식을 적용하여 생성하였으며, 생성된 전단류에 의해 각 연직층 별 유속이 계산되고 𝚫t 이후 입자의 종, 횡 방향 이동거리를 계산한다. 또한 난류확산에 의한 무작위적 거동 계산을 위해 Gaussian 분포를 따른 난수 생성을 통해 무작위적 거동을 계산했다. 각 연직층에 위치한 미세플라스틱 입자의 종, 횡 방향 거동을 계산한 후 입자의 연직거동을 계산한다. 입자의 연직 위치는 난류확산과 침강속도에 따라 계산되며 침강속도는 미세플라스틱의 밀도 및 직경에 따라 결정된다. 현장 샘플링 결과에 따라 팔당호로 유입되는 미세플라스틱은 폴리스틸렌(PS), 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리에스테르(Polyester)가 있으므로, 세 종류의 미세플라스틱을 동시에 주입하여 팔당호 내 거동을 분석했다. 남한강, 북한강, 경안천의 유량 차이로 인해 팔당호로 유입되는 미세플라스틱은 대체로 남한강과 북한강의 흐름특성에 영향을 받았다. 경안천의 경우 유량이 낮아 팔당호로 유입되지 못하고 좌안을 따라 하류로 이동됐다. 남한강과 북한강에서 유입된 미세플라스틱은 주로 팔당호 내 소내섬을 거쳐 팔당댐 쪽으로 이동했다. 또한 팔당댐 인근에서는 PP, PE, Polyester 순으로 많은 양이 유입되는 결과가 나타났다.

Development of an Apparatus for Vertical Transfer of a PRT Vehicle Operating on a Road Network (운행 중인 PRT 차량의 수직이송을 위한 장치 개발)

  • The Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) system has been highly interested in future transportation developments due to its on-demand and optimized door-to-door transport capability. However, the major impediments to the commercialization of PRT are the high cost for construction of infrastructures as opposed to the small transport capacity and difficulty in defining the role of PRT in building a balanced transportation system. In this study, the vertical transfer device for the PRT vehicle is developed to provide more flexible and better compatible urban mobility services between means of transportation, which is expected to meet particular demands in a particular environment. This apparatus was initially designed based on the basis of vertical circulating conveyors with steel chains, which is frequently used in logistics. Its advantages are capable of the non-stop loading and reduced head-way time. Most importantly, it was intensified by the additional idea to ensure the stable and reliable transfer of the PRT vehicle fully loaded with passengers. The 1/10-scale prototype was successfully tested to demonstrate a fundamental mechanism of vertical transfer and identify unexpected user requirements prior to a real manufacturing process.

Assesment of the industrial Wood Waste Disposal Cost through Analysis of the Treatment Flow (사업장계 폐목재의 흐름 분석을 통한 처리비용영향 검토)

  • This research has looked into the treatment process of wood waste generated from industrial waste within the region and in order to modify the problem that may occurred during the mass balance were analyzed for development of suitable solid waste recycling network regionally. As as result, quite amount of wood waste are being transferred to another region, even though a treatment facility's capacity could bear the total amount of waste generated within the area. Although the wood waste could be treated locally, it is analyzed that amount of wood waste are being transferred due to inefficient and irrational processing system between regions. It is assumed that $CO_2$ generated and loss of unnecessary fuel cost from these inefficient system is quite a lot and in order to modify this disorganized system, it will not inevitable to treat the waste based on the characteristics of each regions. Also, the wood waste recycling system should be studied with the efficient, environmental friendly processing and delivering network by minimized transfer distance and local systemizing the waste treatment system.
