  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of sandplay therapy for couples on the self-differentiation, and heterosexual relationship satisfaction, of couples who are college students'. The subjects were four couples who are college students living in Seoul with low self-differentiation and heterosexual relationship satisfaction. I carried out sandplay therapy on four couples for once a week for 10 weeks, and each session was 70 minutes long. In this study, the self-differentiation scale was modified for Korea on the basis of Bowen's family systems theory (1976), and it was used as a research tool. Yu (2000) and Lee (2000) made a scale to measure heterosexual relationship satisfaction after they adjusted the Korea Marital Satisfaction Inventory (K-MSI). The scale was also used in order to compare pre-therapy and post-therapy traits and identify any changes. In addition, the group's behavior and interactions were observed and recorded in each session throughout the process of sandplay therapy with the couples, and the behanior and interactions were analyzed along with the change flow in the sand trays. The study's outcomes are summed up as follows. First, sandplay therapy with couples advances the level of self-differentiation in college students. Second, sandplay therapy with couples improves the heterosexual relationship satisfaction on college students. Third, the trays used in sandplay therapy with couples showed positive changes as the therapy progressed. As the sessions continued, negative factors in the trays decreased and the trays converged into one. As the sessions proceeded, it was observed that the couples became closer, felt more comfortable with each other, compromised and reflected on their relationship. The study's results show that sandplay therapy with couples increased the level of self-differentiation in college students and heterosexual relationship satisfaction, thus proving the therapy's effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of change of social relations due to COVID-19 on life satisfaction and to examine mediating effect of leisure satisfaction in the relationship between change of social relations due to COVID-19 and life satisfaction of older people. This study utilized 2021 Social Survey data and 7,203 older persons aged over 65 years were analyzed. Multiple regression analyses were used for the analyses and significance of mediating effect was tested using bootstrapping methods. Study findings showed that change of social relations due to COVID-19 had a significant effect on life satisfaction of older people. That is, those who experienced increasing distance from neighbors and friends reported lower level of life satisfaction. Also, leisure satisfaction partially mediated the effects of change of social relations due to COVID-19 on life satisfaction. Results of this study suggest that various interventions are needed to prevent a decrease of quality of life of older people in times during which social distancing can be necessary like COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship among family function, intimacy risk with the opposite sex, and campus life satisfaction among college students. A descriptive study was conducted. Data were collected from May 11, 2017 to May 20, 2017 by using a structured questionnaire. The participants were 180 college students at two colleges in J-city. Data were analyzed using t-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe test, pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20.0. The mean scores were as follows: family function $3.07{\pm}0.44$(5 points), intimacy risk with the opposite sex $2.03{\pm}0.59$(4 points), and campus life satisfaction $3.20{\pm}0.50$(5 points). There was a significant correlation between the family function, intimacy risk with the opposite sex, and campus life satisfaction variables. Multiple regression analysis showed that factors influencing campus life satisfaction were family communication(${\beta}=0.341$, p=.001) and parental economic activity type(${\beta}=0.161$, p=.007). The explanation power of this regression model was 13.1%. These results of this study indicate that effective campus life satisfaction should be developed by including improvement of family community of family function.
