Joint Estimation of Phase and Frequency Offsets using a Simple Interpolation of a DFT Algorithm in Burst MPSK Transmission (버스트 MPSK 전송에서 시스템 파라미터들의 동시 추정 성능의 개선을 위한 이산 푸리에 변환의 보간기법)

  • In this paper, a simple interpolation technique in a frequency domain is proposed for the discrete Fourier transform(DFT) algorithm. Frequency and phase resolution capabilities of the DFT algorithm can be significantly improved by the proposed interpolation technique without increase of a DFT size(the number of points for the DFT). The new technique uses a diving point in amplitude and phase spectrums. As an application, the technique can be used for joint estimation of fine frequency and phase offsets in burst mode digital transmission. Simulation results show that the joint estimator using the technique is robust to estimation errors.

Sequence Stream Indexing Method using DFT and Bitmap in Sequence Data Warehouse (시퀀스 데이터웨어하우스에서 이산푸리에변환과 비트맵을 이용한 시퀀스 스트림 색인 기법)

  • Recently there has been many active researches on searching similar sequences from data generated with the passage of time. Those data are classified as time series data or sequence data and have different semantics from scalar data of traditional databases. In this paper similar sequence search retrieves sequences that have a similar trend of value changes. At first we have transformed the original sequences by applying DFT. The converted data are more suitable for trend analysis and they require less number of attributes for sequence comparisons. In addition we have developed a region-based query and we applied bitmap indexes which could show better performance in data warehouse. We have built bitmap indexes with varying number of attributes and we have found the least cost query plans for efficient similar sequence searches.

An Application of k-domain Discrete Wavelet Transform for the Efficient Representation of Green Function (파수영역 이산 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 효율적인 그린함수 표현에 관한 연구)

  • The discrete wavelet concept in the k-domain is applied to efficiently represent Green function of integral equations. Application of discrete wavelet concept to Green function in the k-domain can be implemented equivalently by using spatial domain variable-sized windows. The proposed method consists of constant Q-filtering, changing the center of coordinates, and transforming spatially filtered Green functions into those in the k-domain. A mathematical expression of Green function based on the discrete wavelet concept is derived and its characteristics are discussed.

  • This paper proposes a new Artificial-Intelligent(AI) Power Quality(PQ) diagnosis algorithm using Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT), Fast Fourier Transform(FFT), Root-Mean-Square(RMS) value. The developed algorithm is able to detect and classify the PQ problems such as the transient, the voltage sag, the voltage swell, the voltage interruption and the total harmonics distortion. The 15.36[kHz] sampling frequency is used to measure the voltages in a power system. The measured signals are used for DWT, FFT, RMS calculation. For AI diagnosis of the PQ problems, a simple multi-layered Artificial Neural Network(ANN) with the back-propagation algorithm is adopted, programmed in C++ and tested in PSIM simulation studies. Finally, the algorithm, which is installed in MP PQ+256 with TI DSP320C6713, is proved to diagnose the PQ problems efficiently.

  • 댁내에서 사용하는 유틸리티 검침정보인 전기검침, 가스검침 그리고 수도사용량 데이터와 같은 이산적 특징의 시간영역 데이터를 주파수 영역으로 변환하여 분석하면 여러 가지 정보를 얻을 수 있다. 주파수 영역으로 변환된 신호를 고주파 성분과 저주파 성분으로 구분하여 패턴을 분석함으로서 거주자가 댁내에서 정상적인 생활을 하고 있는지 여부를 판단하는 알고리즘을 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • This paper introduces a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based spectral analysis method for the transient responses as well as the steady-state responses of linear discrete systems. The force vibration of a viscously damped three-DOF system is considered as the illustrative numerical example. The proposed spectral analysis method is evaluated by comparing with the exact analytical solutions as well as with the numerical solutions obtained by the Runge-Kutta method.

  • 이 논문은 이산푸리에변환을 이용하여 시계열데이터에 포함되어 있는 파라미터를 추정하는 새로운 방법과 그 응용 결과를 기술하고 있다. 제안한 방법은 푸리에스펙트럼으로부터 직접 파라미터를 추정하는 방법으로 FFT의 장점을 이용할 수 있으므로 신호에 포함되어 있는 중요 주파수를 비롯한 저주파 진동 파라미터를 빠르게 추정할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 단순한 산술계산만 수행하여 제동계수를 추정할 수 있도록 알고리즘을 단순화하였다. 그리고 WSCC 계통에서 실측한 데이터에 제안한 알고리즘을 적용하여 효율성을 검증하였다.

Characterization of Fracture Roughness in Coarse.medium.fine Grained Granite (암반 불연속면의 거칠기 특성 - 조.중.세립질 화강암을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose of this study is to quantitatively characterize the fracture roughness which was measured with a confocal laser scanning microscope. The roughness discrete data measured by confocal laser microscope were analyzed by spectral analysis and fast Fourier transform (FFT).The roughness data by used noise reduction filter were applied for fractal analysis to describe roughness features quantitatively. Artificial fractures created by Brazilian test on granites were used to measure fracture roughness under the confocal laser scanning microscope. Measurements were performed along three scan lines on each fracture surface. 36 scan lines were determined on 12 specimens in total. Features of roughness showed that coarse and medium grained granites tend to more rough features than those of fine grained granites. Continuous analog data of roughness is possible to described as discrete data of measure roughness with a fixed interval under the confocal laser microscope. Results of FFT with the measured data showed the highest values on the second harmonics. Distribution of average amplitude of second harmonics was observed 0.9853 in coarse grained granite, 1.0792 in medium grained granite and 0.6794 in fine grained granite. This indicates that the larger roughness has the higher energy of harmonics as the result of fractal analysis in low frequency zone.

이산 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 탄성파 주시결정

  • The discrete wavelet transform(DWT) has potential as a tool for supplying discriminatory attributes with which to distinguish seismic events. The wavelet transform has the great advantage over the Fourier transform in being able to localize changes. In this study, a discrete wavelet transform is applied to seismic traces for identifying seismic events and picking of arrival times for first breaks and S-wave arrivals. The precise determination of arrival times can greatly improve the quality of a number of geophysical studies, such as velocity analysis, refraction seismic survey, seismic tomography, down-hole and cross-hole survey, and sonic logging, etc. provide precise determination of seismic velocities. Tests for picking of P- and S- wave arrival times with the wavelet transform method is conducted with synthetic seismic traces which have or do not have noises. The results show that this picking algorithm can be successfully applied to noisy traces. The first arrival can be precisely determined with the field data, too.
