  • This paper proposes a video model for the implementation of the cultural video database system. We have utilized an efficient scene change detection method that segments cultural video into semantic units for efficient indexing and retrieval of video. Since video has a large volume and needs to be played for a longer time, it implies difficulty of viewing the entire video. To solve this Problem. the cultural video abstraction was made to save the time and widen the choices of video the video abstract is the summarization of scenes, which includes important events produced by setting up the abstraction rule.

  • People sleep about one-third of their lives and their sleep time varies according to age. Adult usually sleep 8 hours a day. However, that dose not guarantee good sleep. The cause of this is due to sleep disorders like snoring and sleep apnea. In this paper, the smart pillow for detecting snoring among sleep disorders is investigated. This pillow consists of two microphones located on the left and right side of the pillow. For simple detecting, the snoring signal was converted into the pulse using a peak detection circuit. The decision of the snoring occurrence was by pulse duration. The accuracy of the snoring detection was about 97%. The research results show that the smart pillow can be use to detect the snoring during sleeping.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a gait-event detection system, which is necessary for the cycle-to-cycle FES control of locomotion. Proposed gait event detection system consists of a signal measurement part and gait event detection part. The signal measurement was composed of the sensors and the LabVIEW program for the data acquisition and synchronization of the sensor signals. We also used a video camera and a motion capture system to get the reference gait events. Machine learning technique with ANN (artificial neural network) was adopted for automatic detection of gait events. 2 cycles of reference gait events were used as the teacher signals for ANN training and the remnants ($2\sim5$ cycles) were used fur the evaluation of the performance in gait-event detection. 14 combinations of sensor signals were used in the training and evaluation of ANN to examine the relationship between the number of sensors and the gait-event detection performance. The best combinations with minimum errors of event-detection time were 1) goniometer, foot-switch and 2) goniometer, foot-switch, accelerometer x(anterior-posterior) component. It is expected that the result of this study will be useful in the design of cycle-to-cycle FES controller.

  • CEP(Complex Event Processing) is a technique to find complex event pattern in a massive information system. Based on CEP technique, an abuse pattern monitoring method has been developed to provide an real-time detection. In the method, the events occurred by game-play are observed to be against the rules using CEP. User abuse patterns are pre-registered in CEP engine. And CEP engine monitors user abuse after aggregating the game data transferred by game logging server. This article provides the performance analysis results of the abuse pattern monitoring method using real game DB. We results that the method proposed in previous study is effective to monitor abusing users.

  • In this paper, we introduce non-touch style interface system technology without any touch style controlling mechanism, which is called as "Air-interface". To develop this system, we used the full reflection principle of infrared (IR) light and then user's hand is separated from the background with the obtained image at every frame. The segmented hand region at every frame is used as input data for an hand-motion recognition module, and the hand-motion recognition module performs a suitable control event that has been mapped into the specified hand-motion through verifying the hand-motion. In this paper, we introduce some developed and suggested methods for image processing and hand-motion recognition. The developed air-touch technology will be very useful for advertizement panel, entertainment presentation system, kiosk system and so many applications.

  • The growth area of living modified (LM) cotton has steadily increased every year, since its first commercialization in 1996. Development of environmental risk assessment tools and techniques for LM cotton is required for ecosystem safety. We therefore developed multiplex PCR assays for simultaneous detection of two (MON15985, MON531) and four (GHB614, LLCOTTON25, MON88913 and MON1445) LM cotton events approved in Korea, with event specific primer pairs. The PCR reactions were optimized by using event specific primers of six LM cottons at various concentrations. The reactions allows amplification of estimated amplicons of MON15985 (214 bp), MON531 (270 bp), GHB614 (119 bp), LLCOTTON25 (164 bp), MON88913 (276 bp), and MON1445 (389 bp) from multiplex PCR reactions. The multiplex PCR assay developed allowed that two annealing steps (15 cycles at $55^{\circ}C$ and 25 cycles at $60^{\circ}C$) were performed for amplification of distinguished two LM cottons, and only one annealing step (50 cycles at $60^{\circ}C$) was necessary for tetraplex PCR. Primer extension step of all PCR reactions was skipped for time-effective amplification. Our methods suggest that two multiplex PCR assays can be cost-effective and a rapid diagnostic tool for environmental LMO monitoring of six LM cottons.

  • The current state monitoring system at a semiconductor manufacturing process is based on the manually collected sensor data, which involves limitations when it comes to complex malfunction detection and real time monitoring. This study aims to design a situation recognition algorithm to form a network over time by creating a domain ontology and to suggest a system to provide users with services by generating events upon finding risk factors in the semiconductor process. To this end, a multiple sensor node for situational inference was designed and tested. As a result of the experiment, events to which the rule of time inference was applied occurred for the contents formed over time with regard to a quantity of collected data while the events that occurred with regard to malfunction and external time factors provided log data only.

  • With the increasing development and commercial use of genetically modified maize, it is essential to develop an appropriate method for detection of individual LMO (Living modified organism) events for monitoring the samples. In South Korea, commercial planting and accidental or unintentional releases of LMOs into the environment were not approved. In this study, to increase the efficiency of LMO detection, we developed simultaneous detection methods for 11 LM maize events. This multiplex PCR detection method is economical, as it saves time, cost and labor. We developed 11 individual LM maize events, and applied 4 multiplex PCR sets to the LM maize samples. These results are confirmed by applying the multiplex analysis of LMO environmental monitoring from 2012 to 2014, which represents the unintentionally released LM maize samples. The data were correlated with event specific PCR results. Our results indicate that the multiplex PCR method developed is suitable for detection of LM maize in LMO monitoring.

  • A detector module measuring the depth of interaction(DOI) was designed to improve the spatial resolution of positron emission tomography(PET). The scintillation pixel array consists of two layers, and a light guide is inserted between the layers to make the light generated through the gamma-ray event different for each layer. There are four light guides, and one light guide is designed to be coupled to a 2 × 2 array of scintillation pixels. The light generated from the top layer is moved to the photosensor with a wider distribution through the light guide, and the light generated from the bottom layer is incident on the photosensor with a narrower distribution than the top layer. When a flood image is reconstructed based on the signals obtained from the photosensor by different distributions, scintillation pixels are imaged at different positions for each layer. To verify this, a DETECT2000 simulation tool that simulates the behavior of light in a scintillator was used. By designing a scintillation pixel array, a detector consisting of a light guide and a photosensor, a gamma ray event was generated in all scintillation pixels to obtain a flood imgae. As a result, it was confirmed that the top and bottom layers were imaged at different positions and completely separated. When this detector is applied to PET, it is considered that image quality can be improved through imporved spatial resolution.

  • Atrial fibrillation is needed to be detected at paroxysmal stage and to be treated. But, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation ECG is hardly obtained with 12-lead electrocardiographs but Holter systems. Presently, the averaged beat subtraction(ABS) method is solely used to estimate atrial fibrillatory waves even with somewhat large residual error. As an alternative, in this study, we suggested an ESAF(event-synchronous adaptive filter) based algorithm, in which the AF ECG was treated as a primary input and event-synchronous impulse train(ESIT) as a reference. And, ESIT was generated so to be synchronized with the ventricular activity by detecting QRS complex. We tested proposed algorithm with simulated AF ECGs and real AF ECGs. As results, even with low computational cost, this ESAF based algorithm showed better performance than the ABS method and comparable performance to algorithm based on PCA(principal component analysis) or SVD(singular value decomposition). We also proposed an expanded version of ESAF for some AF ECGs with multi-morphologic ventricular activities and this also showed reasonable performance. Ultimately, with Holter systems including our proposed algorithm, atrial activity signal can be precisely estimated in real-time so that it will be possible to calculate atrial fibrillatory rate and to evaluate the effect of anti-arrhythmic drugs.
