The Development of Event Tourism in the Case of Namdo Food Festival at Nakan (이벤트관광의 정착과 성장과정에 관한 연구 -전남 낙안의 남도음식축제를 사례로-)

  • 본 연구는 낙안읍성이라는 특정 장소에서 열리는 남도음식축제를 사례로 이벤트관광의 정착과 성장과정을 관광지리학적 관점에서 고찰하였다. 남도음식축제는 특정장소가 갖는 매력요인과 전남지역의 고유한 향토음식이 결합된 전남의 대표적인 이벤트관광이며, 1998년 문체부에 의해 전국 3대 축제로 선정되어 전국적인 규모의 축제로 성장하였다. 1994년부터 시작된 남도음식축제는 프로그램과 예산, 참가인원 등 규모면에서 꾸준한 성장을 보여 왔다. 그리고 개최기간은 3일에서 일주일로 연장되었고, 관광세력권은 꾸준히 확대되고 있다. 남도음식축제를 더욱 활성화시키기 위해서는 관 주도의 축제에서 민간주도의 축제로의 전환, 지역축제를 이끌어 갈 전문인력의 양성, 낙안읍성이라는 장소성과 역사성을 부각시킬수 있는 프로그램 개발, 음식축제에 대한 보다 적극적인 경영마인드의 도입, 낙안읍성 주변의 주요 관광지와 연계관계를 구축하여 관광세력권의 확대, 지속적인 관광객 형태 및 평가분석을 통한 관광객들의 관심과 욕구의 반영 등이 필요하다.

  • 아시아-태평양 지역에서의 큰 수요로 1990년대 들어서 종합(global) 관광이 증가하게 되었다. 장거리 여행 또한 보통보다 빠른 속도로 증가하고 있다. 이벤트(행사) 관광은 관광산업계의 격렬한 경쟁에서 아주 강력한 방법으로 등장하였다. 이벤트관광의 경제적 혜택으로서, 대규모의 이벤트는 주체국에서의 관광 지출을 절반정도까지 절감할 수 있으며, 같은 정도로 수입을 증가 시킬 수 있으며, 궁극적으로는 관광객의 지출(expenditure)을 야기시킬 수 있다 (Vantove & Witt, 1987). 이러한 관점에서, '99 하남 환경박람회와 같은 국제적 이벤트가 199년 이후 지방정부의 주최로 한국에서 매년 개최되고 있다. 이벤트의 주요역할은 지역사회의 이미지를 향상시키고, 관광객을 불러들이는 것이며(Holler 등, 1993), 끌어당기는 힘으로써 주최지의 매력을 강조시키는 것이다 (Mill & Morrison, 1985). 한국에서의 이벤트산업은 주최지의 이미지를 흐리게 할 수도 있는 사고에 대한 안전관리의 중요성을 별로 심각하게 인식하고 있는 것 같지가 않다. 조사분석의 결과는 안전시설과 응급시설에 더 만족할수록 재방문의사가 더 크다는 것을 나타내었다. 비록 덜 교육받은 그룹과 학부졸업이상의 그룹 모두 중립보다는 낮지만, 덜 교육받은 방문객은 안전에 더욱 만족한다는 것도 발견되었다. 안전시설의 요소는 재방문의사에 가장 강력한 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

Automatic Recommendation of Nearby Tourist Attractions related to Events (이벤트와 관련된 주변 관광지 자동 추천 알고리즘 개발)

  • Participating in exhibitions is one of the major activities for tourists. When selecting their next travel destination after participating in an event, they use map services and social network services, such as blogs, to obtain information about tourist attractions. The map services are location-based recommendations, because they can easily retrieve information regarding nearby places. Blogs contain informative content about tourist attractions, thereby providing content-based recommendations. However, few services consider both location and content. In location-based recommendations, tourist attractions that are not related to the content of the event attended might be recommended. Content-based recommendation has a disadvantage in that events located at a distance might get recommended. We propose an algorithm that considers both location and content, based on information from the Korea Tourism Organization's Linked Open Data (LOD), Wikipedia, and a Korean dictionary. By extracting nouns from the description of a tourist attraction and then comparing them with nouns about other attractions, a content-based relationship is determined. The distance to the event is calculated based on the latitude and longitude of each tourist attraction. A weight selected by the user is used for linear combination with the content-based relationship to determine the preference order of the recommendations.

The Evolution and Development Strategies of Event Tourism in the Case of Young-deung Festival at Chindo (이벤트관광의 성장과정과 활성화 방안 -전남 진도 영등제를 사례로-)

  • This paper examined the evolution and development strategies of Young-deung Festival holding in Chindo since 1978. The Young-deung Festival is a representative event tourism in Korea. The water between Hoidong and Modo in Chindo, a small islet 2.8km off the coast, part to reveal a path 40m wide as a result of the moon influence on the tides. This phenomenon is called “young-deung-sal”on the Chindo. This event began on a small scale highlighting the treasury of traditional folkfore and shamanism peculiar to these islands, various cultural resources, and local place attraction such as young-deung-sal. But, in the early 1990s, with the introduction of systematic management and a variety of programs, the small village festival has steadily evloved in the scale aspects of the program, budget, profit, and the number of visitors participating in festival. In addition, the period of festival was prolonged for three days and visitors from other provinces have steadily increased, in particular visitors from Seoul and Gyoungkee have steadily increased. In order to develop the Young-deung Festival, the followings should be done: creation of local image through place attraction, private organization in supporting festival, adoption of management techniques for the local economic activites, and extension of linkage with tourists places around Chindo, target visitor marketing through a continuous visitor survey.

Effect of Tourism Motivation for Traditional Indigenous Foods on Expectation, Community Attachment and Tourism Satisfaction in Festival Event (축제이벤트에서의 전통향토 음식체험관광에 대한 관광동기가 기대도와 지역애착 및 관광만족에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, an empirical analysis was carried out to determine the effect of tourism motivation for traditional indigenous foods experience tourism on expectation, community attachment and tourism satisfaction in festival event. The result is as follows. First, the effect of tourism motivation for foods experience tourism on expectation of tourism products in experience event showed that exchangeable, educational, aesthetic, derivative and adventurous attributes have a positive effect on expectation of tourism products. Second, the effect of tourism motivation for foods experience tourism on community attachment in experience event showed that exchangeable, educational, aesthetic and derivative attributes have a positive effect on community attachment. Finally, expectation of tourism products and community attachment had a statistically significant effect on community attachment and tourism satisfaction, and tourism satisfaction, respectively. That suggests that the development of various food tourism resources as the tourist value, which can get tourism resources of traditional foods through festival events, could not only introduce tourists to unique food culture, but add the pleasure of delicious food and tourism. Consequently, the preservation, inheritance and development of regional indigenous foods could increased local patriotism, and develop the related industry, maximizing economic effects.

  • This paper examined the settlement and evolution of the Namdo Food Festival holding in Nakan folk village since 1994. The Namdo Food Festival is a representative event tourism in Chonnam which beautifully displays Nakan eup-sung's folk landscape and Namdo's traditional food, a prime tourist resource. Since 1994, the Namdo Food Festival has steadily evoloved in the scale aspects of the program budget, and the number of visitors participating in festiva. In addition, the period of the food festival was fixed for a week, early in October. The majority of visitors to the festival was from Kwangju. Moreover, visitors from other provinces have steadily increased, in particular visitors from Yeongnam province such as Pusas and Kyeongnam provinces have increased since 1996. In order to settle down and develop the Namdo Food Festival, the followings should be done change of the ownership from public to private sector, training of professional entertainers, development of programs which can reinforce historical aspects and placeness of Nakan folk village, adoption of management technoques for the local economic activities, and extension of linkage with tourists places around Nakan folk village, reflection of tourists interests and needs through a continuoua tourist's behaviour analysis.

Dynamic Analysis on the Host regional Effects of before and after Mega-Events (메가 이벤트 개최 전후 개최지역에 미치는 효과에 관한 동태적 분석)

  • This study was to analyze dynamics of host regional effect in accordance with Mega-events. Yeosu Expo, 2012 was the Mega-event, and dynamic changes in economic indicators such as number of tourists, GRDP, employment rate, and real estate price were analyzed before and after the event. The Mega-event affected positively and increased on the number of tourists. While GRDP affected positively only right before the event, and the employment rate was not significantly affected by the event. The real estate price was increased from the announced time of hosting to the event held, but later decreased. This study suggested the comprehensive method for analyzing the effect of Mega-event and there was a cyclical causality among the result variables.

A Study on the Preference of Tourism Resource Development Based on Benefit-sought of Leisure Sport Event Participation (레저 스포츠 이벤트 참가추구목적에 따른 이용관광지 자원개발 선호도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the research is to investigate the possibility of the tourism resources development preference of sport leisure event activity of participation as one use MDS and clustering market character. An empirical research has been undertaken the questionnaire had be distributed to the whole country inline marathon races participation and there were 330 responses. The research was conducted by using statistical packages of SPSS program. As research methods factor analysis and cluster analysis were also employed. Three distinct cluster groups were categorized by their characteristics: 'money acquirement participation', 'self realization moderators', 'self realization enthusiasts', and there was differences among segmented groups in terms of their affecting factors to the tourism resources development preference. These findings suggested that there were need to tourism resources development for different segmented groups of sports leisure event activity selection attributes and each group pursued different satisfaction.

  • This study explored how the network structure in terms of social interactions among users via a mobile game has changed longitudinally. The main findings are summarized as follows. First, in-game events are likely to increase the social interactions of users. Second, some power users played key roles in the game users' network and tend to make a large sub-group for interacting among users. Third, it is suggested that the analysis of network structure among users can be a useful tool for monitoring which in-game events are effective and how they are mutually interconnected for collaboration.
