The purpose of this study is to examine mediating effects of social adaptation on the relationship between employment status and mental health in a sample of marriage immigrant women. Social adaptation was assessed with Korean proficiency and the length of residence in Korea. Participants comprised of a total of 247 marriage immigrant women who reside in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-Do. The data were analyzed by the PASW Statistics 18.0 and the AMOS 18.0 software. The results showed that the social adaptation was a full mediator of the relationship between employment status and mental health. It is plausible to state that employment status may enhance social adaptation, which in turn improve mental health among marriage immigrant women. The implication of our findings is that as employment and social adaptation are important elements of mental health among the marriage immigrate women, education and social support system regarding these antecedent factors should be implemented.

Algal(II) Multidentate N, O-Schiff base ligands, such as bis(salicylaldehyde) ethylenediimine(SED), bis(salicylaldehyde) propylenediimine(SPD), bis(salicylaldehyde) diethylenetriimine(SDT), bis (salicylaldehyde) triethylenetetraimine(STT) and bis(salicyl-aldehyde)tetraethylenepentaimine(STP) were prepared. Stepwise proton dissociation constants of the Schiff base were measured potentiometrically in ethanol and a mixture of 70% dioxane and 30% $H_2O$. The stability constants of copper(II)-Schiff base complexes were in the order of Cu(II)-SPD${\leq}$Cu(II)-SED~STT${\leq}$Cu(II)-STP. Oxidation-reduction process of the Cu(II)-Schiff base complexes was involved with one-electron reaction.

The biggest challenge immigrants face is language. We realized that Korean education contents suited for it are lacking more than we thought. To help with the above problems, we decided to make a mobile game for Korean conversation education. The proposed game is based on the online course of Sejonghakdang and is composed of life conversation which can be used immediately in real. We selected female marriage immigrants from China who have a large number of foreign residents and need a lot of Korean education but have a relatively low chance of being contacted. In the case of female marriage immigrants, communication was possible, but it was characterized that the composition of sentences was not smooth. Considering these features, we chose the game method that can match the problem in the unit of the word.

The relation among social support, depressive symptoms, and living arrangements were examined in a non-random sample of 175 adults age 60 and older. A convenience sample was obtained through a personal interview. A structural equation modeling approach was used to explore the role of social support in the relation between the living arrangements of elderly Koreans and their level of depressive symptoms. These results are consistent with previous analyses suggesting that social support plays a significant role in moderating depressive symptoms, in relation to negative living arrangements among older Korean populations (the buffering-effect hypothesis).

The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate professional sports fans' perception of immigrants and changes of athletes' nationalities, and 2) to examine how the fans' perception affected the perception of changes of athletes' nationalities. Results indicated that first the fan showed a neutral attitude toward the immigrants. In the results of the regression analysis containing foreign athletes naturalized as Korean citizens as the dependent variable, independent variables (i.e., gender and acceptance) explained 39.1% and 38% of the dependent variable, respectively, within [naturalization positive]. Within [naturalization negative] female fan and exclusive perception of immigrants positively predicted the objection to changes of athletes' nationalities. Lastly, in the results of the regression analysis containing Korean athletes who naturalized as foreign citizens as the dependent variable, fans who were older and rated higher on exclusive perception of immigrants had more negative perception of the dependent variable. Female fans perceived changes of athletes nationalities as personal choice.

This study is an attempt to identify factors affecting korean immigrants concentration in small business enterprises in the middleman minority sector including the priphery and core sectors, with the private wage and self-employed worker examined in each sector, employing the 5 percent public use sample from the 1980 United States census. One out of five koreans aged 25∼64 years is engaged in self-employed small businesses, while the majority of koreans (4 out of 5) are in the private wage sector. In contrast to expectations, English language difficulties and inferior education are not the prime factors affecting self-employment small businesses. The korean self-employed small business owners both in the periphery sector and in the core sector showed the 'middle' strata of their position in the social structure in terms of their industry, occupation, earnings, etc.

본 연구는 한국인과 결혼하여 국내에 살고 있는 남녀 국제결혼이민자들이 한국 사회에 적응하는 과정에서 겪게 되는 문화적응스트레스와 정신건강(심리적 안녕감)과의 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 결혼이민자들의 문화적응 과정을 스트레스유발 생애사건으로 간주함에 따라 이 과정에서 겪게 되는 다양한 스트레스(원)들이 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 초점을 맞추었다. 경기도에 거주하는 여성결혼이민자 810명과 남성결혼이민자 203명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 자료 분석결과, 여성결혼이민자와 남성결혼이민자 모두가 결혼이주를 하면서 기대했던 생활수준 향상의 욕구가 충족될수록, 경제적 문제로 인한 스트레스를 덜 받을수록, 부부관계가 긍정적일수록, 또한 신체적으로 건강한 상태를 유지하는 사람들일수록 심리적 적응수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 여성결혼이민자는 특히 가족생활적응과 관련한 스트레스가 낮을수록 심리적 적응수준이 높은 것에 비해, 남성결혼이민자의 심리적 적응수준은 직장과 관련한 스트레스에 더 민감하게 반응하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

이 연구는 한국계 이민자 가정과 백인가정 사이의 부모의 행동적 심리적 통제와 아동의 정서적 행복감에 관한 차이를 알아보기 위해 실시하였다. 미국 시애틀 지역의 8에서 9세 사이의 자녀를 둔 31한국계 가정과 31백인 가정이 연구에 참여하였다. 각 각의 부모들과 자녀들에게 질문지를 실시하여 그 결과를 비교하였다. Acceptance/rejection and control 질문지 결과는 한국계 이민자 가정의 아버지들이 백인 아버지들보다 자녀들에게 전반적으로 더 많은 통제와 공격적 양육태도를 보여주었다. Child Regulation Index결과, 한국계 어머니들도 자녀들에게 더 많은 행동조절 지시를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 반해 아동들의 심리내적인 정서를 알아보기 위해 실시한 Reynolds child depression scale에서 한국계 이민자 가정 아동들이 백인 부모의 자녀들보다 자기 자신에 대해 덜 행복하게 느끼고 있음을 보고하였다. 특히 전체적으로 어머니들의 통제가 아동의 심리내적 정서와 관계가 있음이 확인되었고, 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 부모의 심리적 행동적 통제와 아동의 정서적 행복감에 대해 논의하였다.

This study aims to examine the characteristics and meanings of the encounter between Malaysian migration policy and Korean retirement migration in contemporary Malaysia. For this purpose, I describe and analyze the features and implications of migration policy in Malaysia, and understand the cultural characteristics and meanings of migration policy, especially Malaysian migration policy in Malaysia, and examine and explore the characteristics and meanings of retirement migration, especially Korean retirement migration to Malaysia in contemporary Malaysia, in the socio-cultural context. The research outcomes of this study are followings. Firstly, because of the misunderstanding and misuse of MM2H(Malaysia My 2nd Home) program and Malaysian migration policy among Korean retirement migrants in contemporary Malaysia, Korean retirement migration in Malaysia cannot be regarded one of the appropiate and effective migration policy for Koreans. It has been utilized as an instrument of their children's education among Koreans in Malaysia. Secondly, in this regard, it has been increased the number of Koreans to return to Korea without any constructive results in their children's education and their successful retirement lives in Malaysia. It is noted to understand that Korean retirement migration to Malaysia is the movement and migration of the special forms of human migration or human exchange and cooperation in the socio-cultural context. The cultural characteristics and meanings of Korean retirement migration to Malaysia has been one of the important cultural phenomena between Korea and Malaysia in contemporary Malaysia. In this sense, it is expected that this study can be contributed to understand the cultural characteristics and meanings of the encounter and exchange between Malaysian migration policy and Korean retirement migration to Malaysia in contemporary Malaysia, and to enhance the exchange and cooperation between Korea and Malaysia through human exchange and migration, especially Korean retirement migration to Malaysia in contemporary Malaysia.
