  • In the performance of a wind turbine system, the blades play a vital role. However, they are susceptible to damage arising from complex and irregular loading (which may even cause catastrophic collapse), and they are expensive to maintain. Therefore, it is very important both to find defects after blade manufacturing is completed and to find damage after the blade is used for a certain period of time. This study provides a new perspective for the detection of internal defects in glass-fiber- and carbon-fiber-reinforced panels, which are used as the main materials in wind turbine blades. A gap or fracture between fiber-reinforced materials, which may occur during blade manufacturing or operation, is simulated by drilling a hole 5 mm in diameter in the middle layer of the laminated material. Then, a digital-image-correlation (DIC) method is used to detect internal defects in the blade. Tensile load is applied to the fabricated specimen using a tensile tester, and the generated changes are recorded and analyzed with the DIC system. In the glass-fiber-reinforced laminated specimen, internal defects were detected from a strain value of 5% until the end of the experiment, while in the case of the carbon-fiber-reinforced laminated specimen, internal defects were detected from 1% onward. It was proved using the DIC system that the defect was detected as a certain level of strain difference developed around the internal defects, according to the material properties.

  • This study intended to examine the nature of image which uses the network as the medium in the context of 'post-internet art' and categorize and analyze the cases of applications within art images. In the post-internet art which embraces the background of Web 2.0 and extended digital and network environment, image is transformed and re-mediated into various formats beyond fixed forms. Hito Steyerl defined the image, copied, downloaded, and reedited digitally in low quality as 'poor image.' Young artists, the digital native generation, capture and re-contextualize the changed network environment and depict it in various images. In this context, the application of image in post-internet art can be categorized and analyzed into the 'Image Collected as Material' produced by collecting and recomposing images found in social media, operating system, and website, 'Image Processed through Work' which is newly processed and re-contextualized by using editing programs, and 'Combined Digital-Reality Image' which represents the section of the digital society as the film and image that combine virtuality and reality.

  • A generative adversarial network (GAN) is a network in which two internal neural networks (generative network and discriminant network) learn while competing with each other. The generator creates an image close to reality, and the delimiter is programmed to better discriminate the image of the constructor. This technology is being used in various ways to create, transform, and restore the entire image X into another image Y. This paper describes a method that can be forged into another object naturally, after extracting only a partial image from the original image. First, a new image is created through the previously trained DCGAN model, after extracting only a partial image from the original image. The original image goes through a process of naturally combining with, after re-styling it to match the texture and size of the original image using the overall style transfer technique. Through this study, the user can naturally add/transform the desired object image to a specific part of the original image, so it can be used as another field of application for creating fake images.

  • Animation documentary is a hybrid genre that is newly highlighted with opposite properties. The actual world is reproduced with an unrealistic method in documentary aspect, but the objectivity of documentaries cannot be guaranteed as the boundary of actual pictures and digital images has become ambiguous. As the animation documentary by Ari Folman succeeded in 2008, the focus of this study is on 'how can fictional animations prove the authenticity of documentaries?' in which the study is mainly conducted in documentary aspect. For this, the researcher considers visual style research has important role in understanding and developing a new video genre, and asserts the necessity of research on reproduction image that is produced by the characteristics of animation which is produced in frame units. This paper has contents on the visual style of animation documentaries with pictorial reproduction methods in which animation images were classified into 3 styles based on previous research on animation documentary style. Visual styles are classified into actual image that is based on similarity with reality to deliver objective facts, image that is transformed through emphasis and omission which are factors of animations, and surrealistic image that reproduces non-visual regions such as illusions and the inner side of characters. Through this study that analyzes visual style types and characteristics, animation documentaries are expected to position as a hybrid genre that illustrates reality with a new method instead of being included in the existing reproduction method of documentaries.

  • In recent, mobile augmented reality game which has been attracting high attention is considered to be an good approach to increase immersion. In conventional augmented reality-based games that recognize target objects using a mobile camera and show the matching game characters, touch-based interaction is mainly used. In this paper, we propose an intuitive interaction method which manipulates a deformable game object by moving a target image of augmented reality in order to enhacne the immersion of the game. In the proposed method, the deformable object is intuitively manipulated by calculating the distance and direction between the target images and by adjusting the external force applied to the deformable object using them. In this paper, we focus on the cloth deformable object which is widely used for natural object animation in game contents and implement natural cloth simulation interacting with game objects represented by wind and rigid objects. In the experiments, we compare the previous commercial cloth model with the proposed method and show the proposed method can represent cloth animation more realistically.

  • Such changes that the digital paradigm brought propels a change of the value system itself in the existing society so that a way of thinking that differentiates oneself from others is getting much stronger. As public interests are higher in the image production on the internet, such authoring environments as development of related technologies, expansibility of information, and systematization of available information continue to change. Therefore, a variety of unique image presentations that fit to the changed environments are necessary and an expression method is indispensable for such image production. It suggests digital image application methods and examples that contain not just simple image distortion or variation but intrinsic significance. It is believed that it will be of good use to produce a variety of unique and innate digital images in the end.

  • We are surrounded by so many images these days. These images have their own meanings and have an effect on our subject, whether consciously or unconsciously. Michel Foucault disclosed that upon closer examination the rationalism deeply rooted in Western society was not made autonomously but involuntarily by heteronomous power. Because the emotion of image within this relationship can be effectively conveyed just through its being seen, the image has been used for controlling and mustering people through the adjustment of its meaning by power. With the advance of technology and media of today, the image in this visual power is out of the object for reproduction, and then forms a new paradigm of manipulation, transformation and reproduction and is being changed to the formation of Panopticon power and its corresponding relationship.

  • This study is based on Art Infusion type (modification vs. re-interprete and interactivity level (high vs. low) are independent variables such as 'Product-Related Memory (PRM)' and 'Image Related Memory (IRM)', Experimental research was carried out empirically through Two-Way MANOVA analysis with advertising attitude as a dependent variable. As a result, first, in the case of the modified advertisement, when the interactivity is low, the advertisement image-related memory information (IRM) is more memorized and affects the judgment. Second, in the case of reinterpreted advertising, the memory information related to product attributes is stored at low level regardless of the level of interactivity. Third, the attitude toward advertising for famous paintings was positive when the level of interactivity was low.
