Design and Evaluation of a Weighted Intrusion Detection Method for VANETs (VANETs을 위한 가중치 기반 침입탐지 방법의 설계 및 평가)

  • With the rapid proliferation of wireless networks and mobile computing applications, the landscape of the network security has greatly changed recently. Especially, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks maintaining network topology with vehicle nodes of high mobility are self-organizing Peer-to-Peer networks that typically have short-lasting and unstable communication links. VANETs are formed with neither fixed infrastructure, centralized administration, nor dedicated routing equipment, and vehicle nodes are moving, joining and leaving the network with very high speed over time. So, VANET-security is very vulnerable for the intrusion of malicious and misbehaving nodes in the network, since VANETs are mostly open networks, allowing everyone connection without centralized control. In this paper, we propose a weighted intrusion detection method using rough set that can identify malicious behavior of vehicle node's activity and detect intrusions efficiently in VANETs. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by a simulation study in terms of intrusion detection rate and false alarm rate for the threshold of deviation number ϵ.

Minimizing non-optimal paths in multi-hop ad hoc network adopted IEEE 802.11 PSM (IEEE 802.11 PSM을 적용한 다중 홉애드 혹 네트워크에서 우회경로의 최소화)

  • It is easy to implement a temporary network with a mobile ad-hoc network in which mobile nodes have without using a infrastructure network. They depend on their limited power. Recently, it is a hot issue to save the energy in a mobile ad-hoc network because a mobile nodes have a limited energy. Research of IEEE 802.11 PSM was proposed in a single hop ad-hoc assumption. If IEEE 802.11 PSM is applied to multi hop ad-hoc network, non-optimal paths will be generated by the mobile nodes which didn't receive a message of routing request. Non-optimal paths increase not only a network latency but also energy consumption of mobile nodes. Reconfiguring algorithm of non-optimal paths caused by the mobile nodes which didn't receive a message of routing request is proposed in this paper. A mobile node can overhear the data in his range. A wireless medium is shared by all mobile nodes using the same bandwidth. All mobile nodes lookout the non-optimal paths with these properties of a medium, if non-optimal path is generated, optimal reconfiguring will be accomplished by modifying routing table of itself or sending a request message of routing update to nearby nodes. By reconfiguring the non-optimal paths to optimized ones, network latency and energy consumption was decreased. It is confirmed to ignore the overhead caused by a algorithm presented in this paper through the result of the simulation.

  • MANET(mobile ad hoc network) cn be one of the access networks of BcN(broadband convergence network), and an user node requires address auto-configuration protocol for mu14i-hop environment. Some address auto-configuration protocols are proposed for independent MANET, but they don't consider BcN-accessable MANET environment. In this paper, new address auto-configuration protocol for wireless nodes is proposed. With this proposal, they ran configure their global addresses automatically in hybrid MANETs as BcN access networks. The autoconfiguration protocol modifies IPv6 NDP(neighbor discovery protocol) messages to deliver global prefix information to all wireless nodes, and avoids message boradcasting to minimize network overhead.

  • An mobile ad hoc network(MANET) is a collection of wireless computers (nodes), communicating among themselves over multi-hop paths, without the help of any infrastructure such as base stations or access points. Prior research in MANET has generally studied the routing problem in a non-adversarial setting, assuming a trusted environment. In this paper, we design and evaluate the Secure Zone Routing Protocol(T-ZRP), a secure ad hoc network routing protocol is based on the design of the hash chain. In order to support use with nodes of limited CPU processing capability, and to guard against Denial-of-Service attacks in which an attacker attempts to cause other nodes to consume excess network bandwidth or processing time, we use efficient one-way hash functions and don't use asymmetric cryptographic operations in the protocol. Proposed algorithm can safely send to data through authentication mechanism and integrity about routing establishment.

A Study on Energy Conservative Hierarchical Clustering for Ad-hoc Network (애드-혹 네트워크에서의 에너지 보존적인 계층 클러스터링에 관한 연구)

  • An ad-hoc wireless network provides self-organizing data networking while they are routing of packets among themselves. Typically multi-hop and control packets overhead affects the change of route of transmission. There are numerous routing protocols have been developed for ad hoc wireless networks as the size of the network scale. Hence the scalable routing protocol would be needed for energy efficient various network routing environment conditions. The number of depth or layer of hierarchical clustering nodes are analyzed the different clustering structure with topology in this paper. To estimate the energy efficient number of cluster layer and energy dissipation are studied based on distributed homogeneous spatial Poisson process with context-awareness nodes condition. The simulation results show that CACHE-R could be conserved the energy of node under the setting the optimal layer given parameters.

  • 이동 애드 혹 망에서 안정된 멀티캐스트 데이터 전달 구조는 데이터 전송률을 높이고 제어 부하를 맞추는데 기여한다. 이동 애드 혹 망의 동적 위상 때문에 애드 혹 환경에서 안정된 멀티캐스트 데이터 전달구조를 구성하는 것은 어려운 문제이다. 이 논문에서 우리는 이동 애드 혹 망을 위한 안정된 응용 계층 멀티캐스트를 제안한다. 이 프로토콜에서는 각각의 멤버 노드가 잔여 에너지와 지역 이동성에 따라 자신의 안정성을 미리 계산한다. 소스가 데이터 패킷을 전송해야 할 때, 변형된 지연 전달 방안을 통해 소스기반 오버레이 멀티캐스트 트리를 만든다. 오버레이 구성은 각각의 멤버 노드의 안정성에 따른다. 상대적으로 높은 안정성을 가진 멤버 노드는 하위 트리들을 가질 확률을 높여준다. 제안한 설계는 불안정한 멤버 노드들을 멀티캐스트 트리의 가장자리로 밀어내어 멀티캐스트 라우팅 안정성을 개선한다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 우리의 설계가 패킷 전송률, 링크 단절에 의한 손실률, 제어 부하 면에서 ODOMP[1]에 비해 우수하다는 것을 보여준다.

  • Wireless mesh network is similar to ad-hoc network, so when transferred to the data packet in the wireless environment, interfered factor arise. When TCP(Transport Control Protocol) was created, however as it was design based on wired link, wireless link made more transmission error than wired link. It is existent problem that TCP unfairness and congestion collapse over wireless mesh network. But packet losses due to transmission errors are more frequent. The cause of transmission error in wireless ad-hoc network may be inexactly regarded as indications of network congestion. And then, Congestion Control Algorithm was running by this situation causes the TCP performance degradation. In this paper, proposed TCP can adaptively regulate the congestion window through moving node in the Wireless Mesh Network. And it enhanced the performance.

Mobility Prediction Based Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance Using Unmanned Vehicles in a Tactical Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (전술 모바일 애드혹 네트워크에서 무인기를 이용하는 이동 예측 기반의 데이터 링크 연결 유지 알고리즘)

  • Due to its self-configuring nature, the tactical mobile ad hoc network is used for communications between tactical units and the command and control center (CCC) in battlefields, where communication infrastructure is not available. However, when a tactical unit moves far away from the CCC or there are geographical constraints, the data link between two communicating nodes can be broken, which results in an invalid data route from the tactical units to CCC. In order to address this problem, in this paper we propose a hierarchical connectivity maintenance scheme, namely ADLCoM (Autonomous Data Link Connectivity Maintenance). In ADLCoM, each tactical unit has one or more GW (gateway), which checks the status of data links between tactical units. If there is a possibility of link breakage, GWs request ground or aerial unmanned vehicles to become a relay for the data link. The simulation results, based on tactical scenarios, show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the network performance with respect to data delivery ratio.

An Improvement of Routing Performance in Ad Hoc Networks (애드혹 네트워크에서의 라우팅 성능 개선)

  • This paper proposes a new protocol to enhance the routing performance and applies our proposal to AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) protocol, which is a typical on-demand routing protocol in MANET. In general, when a route repair procedure is performed due to the transfer or failure of a node, the source node re-initiate a route discovery procedure in most routing protocols of MANET. This causes to increase the control traffic overhead largely and degrade the routing performance. The main idea of our study is to provide a methodology that can minimize the control traffic overhead and enhance the performance by initiating a route repair procedure at destination node and utilizing the previous routing information maximumly. To evaluate the performance of the our mechanism, we have performed a series of simulations. The simulations include comparisons with AODV and AODV with local repair. The simulations have been executed under simulation environments taking into account mobility speed and network site. The simulation results show that our proposal overall outperforms the existing protocols.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network) has been proposed as a infrastructure-less network using distributed algorithm for remote environment monitoring and control. The mobility of MANET would make the topology change frequently compared with a static network and a node is resource-constrained. Hence, to improve the routing protocol in MANET, energy efficient routing protocol is required as well as considering the mobility would be needed. In this paper, we extend RODMRP(Resilient Ontology-based Dynamic Multicast Routing Protocol) structure by a modifying the level of cluster. We call this network protocol CACH-RODMRP. Our contribution consists estimating the optimal level of clustering depth with considering node position and reducing the network residual energy. The simulation results of proposal algorithm show that the energy is significantly reduced compared with the previous clustering based routing algorithm for the MANET.
