A Study on Design and Development of the Electronically Controlled Power Steering Controller far a Passenger Car (승용차용 전자계어식 파워스티어링 콘트롤러의 설계 및 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Power steering systems far automobile are becoming ever more popular because they reduce steering efforts of the drivers, especially during parking lot maneuver. In this paper, the controller of the motor driven hydraulic power steering(MDHPS) has been designed and developed. This system uses a power source of DC motor instead of engine power source for power steering drive oil pump. The developed MDHPS system is accomplished a highly sensitive power steering resulted from electronic control under variable driving condition. Furthermore, this system is more improvement than type of engine driving far fuel economy.

  • H.264/AVC는 적응적인 비트율 제어(Adaptive Rate Control) 기법을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 H.264/AVC 부호화기에서 첫 번째 프레임의 QP값을 결정하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험결과 기존 알고리즘으로는 비트율 제어가 불가능 했던 영상을 효율적으로 비트율 제어를 하였고 기존의 방법보다 평균 PSNR의 향상을 확인하였다. 화면 사이의 화질 변화 폭을 줄임으로써 주관적인 화질 또한 향상하였다.

Planar Curve Smoothing with Individual Weighted Averaging (개별적 가중치 평균을 이용한 2차원 곡선의 스무딩)

  • A traditional average smoothing method is designed for smoothing out noise, which, however, unintentionally results in smooth corner points on the curvature accompanied with a shrinkage of curves. In this paper, we propose a novel curve smoothing method via polygonal approximation of the input curve. The proposed method determines the smoothing weight for each point of the input curve based on the angle and approximation error between the approximated polygon and the input curve. The weight constrains a displacement of the point after smoothing not to significantly exceed the average noise error of the region. In the experiment, we observed that the resulting smoothed curve is close to the original curve since the point moves toward the average position of the noise after smoothing. As an application to digital cartography, for the same amount of smoothing, the proposed method yields a less area reduction even on small curve segments than the existing smoothing methods.

  • In high speed communication networks, the determination of a transmission rate is critical for the stability of a closed-loop network system with the congestion control scheme. In ATM networks, the available bit rate (ABR) service is based on a feedback mechanism, i.e., the network status is transferred to the ABR source by a resource management (RM) cell. RM cells contain the traffic information of the downstream nodes for the traffic rate control. However, the traffic status of the downstream nodes can not be directly transferred to the source node in the IP based networks. In this paper, a new rate-based congestion control scheme using an exponential weighted moving average algorithm is proposed to build an efficient feedback control law for congestion avoidance in high speed communication networks. The proposed congestion control scheme assures the stability of switch buffers and higher link utilization of the network. Moreover, we note that the proposed congestion scheme can flexibly work along with the increasing number of input sources in the network, which results in an improved scalability.

  • 최근에는 반도체 공정 기술의 발달로 인하여 프로세서의 성능은 급속도록 발전하였다. 하지만 프로세서에서 소모되는 전력이 급속도록 증가하고, 이에 따라 발생된 높은 온도는 프로세서 신뢰성에 부정적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러므로 최근의 프로세서 설계 시 전력, 온도등도 성능과 함께 중요한 고려사항이다. 프로세서의 신뢰성에 치명적인 영향을 미치는 고온현상을 해결하기 위해서 여러 가지 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 대표적으로 방열 판, 냉각 팬 등을 이용한 기계적인 기법과 동적 온도 관리 기법, 연산 이관 기법등을 적용한 구조적인 기법이 활발하게 연구되고 있다. 이러한 기법들의 적용으로 프로세서의 온도를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있게 되었으나 기계적인 냉각 기법은 냉각 효율성이 높지 않다는 단점이 존재하고, 구조적 설계 기법을 통한 냉각기법은 온도를 제어하기 위해 프로세서의 성능을 저하시키는 치명적인 단점이 존재하기 때문에 두 기법 모두 더 많은 연구가 필요하다. 최근의 프로세서 온도 제어 연구의 초점은 부가적인 장치를 통해 프로세서 내에서 발생 된 온도를 제어하는 기계적인 냉각 기법에서 프로세서 내에서 발생하는 온도를 효과적으로 제어하여 프로세서의 신뢰성과 냉각 비용을 절감할 수 있는 구조적 설계 기법으로 이동하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 연구의 초점이 이동하는 원인에 대해 분석하고자 고성능 프로세서에서의 기계적 냉각 기법의 냉각 효율성을 분석하고자 한다. 실험 결과, 온도를 제어하는 데 있어서 매우 높은 비용($1^{\circ}C$ 감소 당 최대 3.58W, 평균 3.36W)이 소모되는 것으로 나타났다. 향후에는 구조적인 설계 기법의 냉각 효율성을 분석하는 실험을 진행하고자 한다.

  • The control system of high-precision AC power is important in traffic management lighting and beaconing of aerodromes, etc. To control AC power supply in these load characteristics, inverter systems of AC/DC/AC conversion are widely used in high-precision current control. Therefore, in this paper, a inverter system of constant current regulation using improved measuring technique of feedback current is proposed. Proposed measuring techniques improve response and precision in that it use moving average method of instantaneous RMS for measuring current sensing. Results of the computer simulation and experiment prove the effects of proposed system.

  • This paper describes the method that voice traffic is served efficiently in BISDN. Voice is divided into talkspurt and silent period, and it is possible to transmit olny talksurt by the speech activity detection. This paper described the voice traffic control algorithm in the ATM network where cell discarding method is applied to the embedded ADPCM voice data. For traffic control, the cell discarding was used over low priority cells when it overflows the queue threshold. To estimate the efficiency of traffic control algorithm, the computer simuation was performed with cell loss probability, queue length and mean delay as performance parameters. The embedded ADPCM voice coding and cell disscarding resulted in improving the voice cell traffic efficiency and the dynamic control over network congestion.

  • This study develops a real-time signal control algorithm based on sectional travel times and includes a field test and evaluation. The objective function of the signal control algorithm is the equalization of delay of traffic movements, and the main process is calculating dissolved time of the queue and delay using the sectional travel time and detection time of individual vehicles. Then this algorithm calculates the delay variation and a targeted red time and calculates the length of the cycle and phase. A progression factor from the US HCM was applied as a method to consider the effect of coordinating the delay calculation, and this algorithm uses the average delay and detection time of probe vehicles, which were collected during the accumulated cycle for a stabile signal control. As a result of the field test and evaluation through the application of the traffic signal control algorithm on four consecutive intersections at 400m intervals, reduction of delay and an equalization effect of delay against TOD control were confirmed using the standard deviation of delay by traffic movements. This study was conducted to develop a real-time traffic signal control algorithm based on sectional travel time, using general-purpose traffic information detectors. With the current practice of disseminating ubiquitous technology, the aim of this study was a fundamental change of the traffic signal control method.

  • This study analysed the center control emergency vehicle preemption[EVP] test result on the 1.782 km section around Gangbuk Fire Station. The pros and cons between center control and site control EVP was compared through the review of existing research. The test site was selected based on the higher link speed for choosing low congested area and 4 to 6 lane road. EVP operates green extension under the estimated arrival time to each intersection. This study is about EVP system field application and its evaluation by analyzing EVP operation result with the emergency vehicle's trace, GPS data. The impact on the surrounding traffic was analysed in delay from the queue length survey. Analysis showed the decrease in averge travel time 41.81%, but the increase in delay of surrounding traffic slightly. It is expected that EVP can be applied to the expanded area by researching EVP compensation scheme.
