  • Mobile communication traffic is changing from voice to data/internet, e.g. wireless internet access, SMS/MMS. more and more. Therefore many data services are coming out over 3G, Mobile WiMAX(WIBRO), LTE etc. Wireless internet market is growing and MIPv6 is more important and many protocols being studied and developed from MIPv6 to Fast MIPv6, Hierachical MIPv6, Proxy MIPv6, etc. The significant factor over MIPv6 is Hand-over latency and Packet-loss PMIPv6 is efficient for reducing mobility related messages and hand-over latency, but it considers single LMA domain. If mobile node is moving inter-LMAs, hand-over delay time affects the real-time communications. To overcome this hand-over delay, we propose present and new enhanced schemes and analize the performance and show the results.

  • In mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET), the network topology and neighboring nodes change frequently, since MANET is composed of nodes that have mobility without a fixed network infrastructure. The AODV routing protocol is advantageous for MANET, but AODV has a delay in the transmission of data packets because AODV can not transmit data during route recovery. This paper proposes solving the above problem of AODV by using a bypass generation mechanism for data transmission during route recovery. For further improvement, additional mechanisms that coordinate the reception threshold of a hello packet are proposed in order to improve the accuracy of the information obtained from the neighboring nodes when the bypass is generated due to a link failure and the immediacy of the route recovery. Simulation results show that the proposed technique improves the performance in terms of the delay in transmission compared to traditional AODV.

  • Mobile IP is a base protocol to support host mobility in IP-based wireless network. It is well known that the protocol contains two main delay factors on a handoff process; one is to detect a host movement, and the other is to register the host's current location to its home network. This paper examines Layer 2(L2) handoff procedure in the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN, and identifies these L2 triggers that can be usefully applied to Layer 3(L3) handoff. Then, the MCAA(Multiple-Casting using Anchor Agent) mechanism is proposed. It makes use of the L2 trigger and the network topology to construct an anchor agent dynamically, and the multiple-casting scheme to prevent an ongoing packet to be lost. Using a network simulator, the proposed mechanism has been evaluated the handoff delay and the packet lost point of view, in comparison with the regional registration protocol which is the most well known micro mobility support mechanism.

  • The femtocell is a miniaturized Base Station (BS) with low-cost and low-power using general broadband access network as backhaul. It is expected not only to improve indoor coverage but also to reduce a service charge. However, in IEEE 802,16e femtocells, when the Mobile Station (MS) scans neighbor BSs for handover, it takes a long time due to too many number of femto BSs. Also the size of the neighbor advertisement message that will be periodically sent by a serving BS is increased as the number of target femto BSs for scanning increases. In this paper, we proposed an efficient femtocell scanning scheme, using a triangulation mechanism and a femto BS monitoring scheme to reduce the number of scanning operations and the size of the neighbor advertisement messages. The proposed scheme can avoid wasting air resources and reduce scanning overheads by minimal scanning operation. The simulation results showed that the proposed scheme could improve scanning performance and avoid wasting air resources, compared with the conventional scheme of the IEEE 802.16e system.

  • Generally, in the Mobile IP technologies, the use of RSVP(Resource ReSerVation Protocol) is recommended in order to provide a mobile node real-time service. However, the handoff of a mobile node increases the registration delay, RSVP reservation delay and signalling overhead in the Mobile IP and RSVP interworking. Specially, the resource reservation on the path between a mobile node and a correspondent node is the duplicated reservation and then causes unnecessary creation of the signalling overhead and waste of the resource, since the majority of the path before handoff and after handoff is same. If the radius of a cell providing a wireless interface to a mobile node is small, the number of handoff will increase and also signalling overhead and duplicated resource reservation will increase. In this paper, we proposed the integration model of Cellular IP and RSVP with RSVP proxy scheme. Here, Cellular IP protocol minimizes registration delay, transfer delay, and loss by handoff in micro cell network, the RS VP proxy that minimizes the duplication of resource reservation prevents the path for RSVP session from change using the address for reservation of a mobile node. Proposed scheme was evaluated in comparison with the existing Mobile IP and RSVP interworking scheme using the probability of resource reservation fail to the radius of a cell and the handoff rate.

  • A multicast session protocol in wireless networks reduces the session delay of multicast delivery caused by moving of mobile host. A hand-off scheme, called MSDR (multicast session delay reduction), in mobile networks is proposed. MSDR protocol that minimizes the delay of a session re-establishment uses the basic unicast routing function of the IETF mobile IP and the DFA (designated foreign agent) to provide multicast services for mobile hosts. Proposed MSDR protocol allows the mobile hosts to continuously receive packets when they move across the basic sets during hand-off. Discrete-event simulation carried out for performance evaluation of MSDR protocol, and simulation results indicated that our scheme can offer a better performance of multicast session delay reduction in terms of signalling cost than that of IETF.

  • Recently the diffusion of the advancement of mobile communication technique and mobile terminal increased, The users were demanded seamless services when carrying and moving. It proposed the FMIPv6(Fast Handoff for Mobile IPv6) from the IETF like this meeting this requirement. The handover procedure of the FMIPv6 causes to defecate with movement detection, new CoA configuration and binding update. But, the delay occurs from each process, when the DAD(Duplicate Address Detection) of the CoA executing, the big delay occurs. This paper proposes a scheme of delay reduction, it omits DAD process and stores in the AR(Access Router) relates in the CoA of the mobile terminal information.

  • In traditional message ferrying schemes, only ferries carry messages between partitioned networks. In this paper, we propose a new approach to make both ferries and mobile nodes carry messages so that we reduce message delivery delay in disruption tolerant networks. We evaluate our scheme against conventional message ferrying in terms of message delivery delay, throughput, ferry buffer usage and mobile nodes buffer usage.
