This study was done to identify the levels of knowledge and attitude toward HIV/AIDS in professional graduate medical school students. A cross-sectional survey was used, and data were collected in 2014. Participants were 97 students in South Korea. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 19.0 program. The mean score for HIV/AIDS knowledge was 8.91 and attitude was 7.00 out of 15. The levels of HIV/AIDS knowledge and attitude were not statistically significantly different according to participants' general characteristics. There was a statistically significant correlation between the levels of HIV/AIDS knowledge and attitude. Medical students having a high HIV/AIDS knowledge level tended more towards a positive attitude. These findings can be used in developing effective education strategies for medical students and health care providers to increase knowledge and decrease negative attitude toward HIV/AIDS.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among fatigue, personality, learning strategies, and academic achievement of medical students. 146 students from year 1 to year 4 at one medical school participated in this study. Students completed the fatigue, Big Five personality traits(Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness), learning, strategies. The academic achievement of students measured by GPA. The data were analyzed by t-test and stepwise multiple regression. The student's fatigue differed by grade, and the students of low grade had higher scores than high grade. But personality traits and learning strategies were not significantly different by grade. The factors that affect on academic achievement differ by grade. In low grade, neuroticism, extraversion, and rehearsal affected students' academic achievement. In high grade, conscientiousness and extraversion had an effect on the academic achievement of students. These results could guide the design of medical education improvement, and be useful in developing a supporting program for medical students.
Objectives: Previous studies have reported an association between circadian preference and personality. Defense mechanism is unconscious ego process which deals with an individual's anxiety and is closely associated with one's personality. Our aim is to investigate the association between defense mechanism and circadian preference in medical students. Methods: One hundred forty eight medical students (70 males, 78 females), aged 22 to 30, answered the Beck Depression Inventory-II, Morningness-eveningness Questionnaire, and Korean version of Defense Style Questinnaire. Results: Consumption (beta=-0.262, p=0.001) and being a male (beta=0.175, p=0.031) were significant positive predictors of eveningness, while sublimation (beta=0.185, p=0.023) was a significant negative predictor of eveningness. Conclusion: Our study showed a relationship between specific defense mechanisms (i.e., consumption and sublimation) and eveningness in medical students, but it did not address whether the relationship is a causal one.

Introduction: Although it is well known that medical students are not getting an adequate amount of sleep, there have been only a few studies on the sleep patterns of medical students and the related factors. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the medical students' sleep patterns and the related factors. Methods: A questionnaire package was administered to the $1^{st}$ to $4^{th}$ year medical students at one medical school. It consisted of questions asking about their lifestyles as well as Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), global assessment of recent stress scale (GASS), the center for epidemiologic studies-depression scale (CES-D), and Moudsley obsessive-compulsive inventory (MOCI). A total of 352 students (206 males and 146 females) responded to the survey and the result was analyzed using the independent t-test, the chi-square test, the paired t-test, Pearson's correlation and ANOVA. p-values of less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant in analyses. Results: The weekend bedtime was significantly delayed (0 : 49 on weekday ; 1 : 34 on weekend ; t=-5.23, p<0.001), the weekend rise time was delayed (6 : 58 on weekday ; 9 : 30 on weekend ; t=-24.48, p<0.001) and the total sleep time was increased on weekends (5 : 36 on weekday ; 7 : 39 on weekend ; t=15.94, p<0.001). The PSQI score of all subjects was 6.43{\pm}2.64. PSQI was positively correlated with ESS (r=0.383, p<0.001), GASS (r=0.326, p<0.001), CES-D (r=0.393, p< 0.001), and MOCI (r=0.247, p<0.001), but not with GPA (r=0.072, p=0.228. The more senior students had lower PSQI, GASS, CES-D, and MOCI score (p<0.05). Conclusion: Medical students were experiencing a lack of sleep during weekdays as they have a later bedtime and earlier rise time, and consequently had more hours of sleep on weekends. Overall, the medical students were experiencing poor sleep quality and sleep deprivation. Poor sleep quality is associated with psychological problems (daytime sleepiness, stress, depression, and obsessive tendency).
The purpose of this study is to provide developmental direction of medical education by analysing graduate medical school student's perception structure about 'good doctor' and the difference between graduate medical school student's perception structure about 'good doctor' before and after clerkship. Subject of study is medical students in 1st~4th year. NetMiner 4.0 program, which is social network analysis, was used to analyse. Many of the words that students used to describe good doctor were similar. But especially lots of times they used 'patient', 'treatment', 'competence', 'heart' and a word 'patient' showed highest degree centrality. Higher density of network and mean degree centrality were shown in students who experienced clerkship. 'Diagnosis and treatment', 'medical communication', 'attitudes to patients', 'medical knowledge', 'basic competence' these 5 groups were shown in network of students before and after clerkship in common. In the case of students after clerkship, 'lifelong learning ' groups have been added, so were the 6 groups. Considering the fact that social responsibility, professionalism, medical humanities are emphasized in recent medical education, students have lack of perception structure about good doctor, therefore education of this area needs to be strengthened.

Recently, the medical education is undergoing system transition from a medical college to a medical graduate school and introduction of performance test in the doctor license state examination. Therefore, To deal with these challenges, it is needed that medical faculty prepare the education programs for considering student's personal characteristics and improving Clinical performance. So, The purpose of this study was to understand relation among Stress, ego-resilience, self-efficacy and Clinical performance in graduate medical student, and for this study, We conducted a survey of 97 medical graduate school students in D city during the period from August 19st to 20st. 2011. The study found a negative correlation between Stress and Ego-Resilience, a positive correlation of stress with confidence at low region in Self-Efficacy. Ego-Resilience correlates positively with CPX at low region in Clinical performance, Preference for difficulty level of the task at low region in Self-Efficacy correlates negatively with OSCE. OSCE and CPX at low region in Clinical performance are positively correlated. Therefore, Stress reduction of students can improve Self-Efficacy, Furthermore, improve ultimately Clinical performance. According to this study, To improve Clinical performance competence, student's personal characteristics should be considered and education programs for self-efficacy and ego-resilience advancement be reflected in curriculum.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the impact of patient-physician communication curriculum on students of Korean medical school in terms of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level of communication skills. Methods: A communication curriculum was developed considering COVID-19 pandemic situation. Lectures, peer role-play, open interview with standardized patient (SP), discussion and feedback were conducted by online, and face-to-face 1:1 SP-interview was performed. Scores of written test, peer role-play of medical communication, SP-interview, self-evaluation on one's interview with real patients in clinical clerkship, and questionnaire of importance were collected and analyzed. Results: Converted to 100 point scale, the mean score of written test (cognitive level) was 91.2 while that of importance questionnaire (affective level) was 77.5. The mean scores of psychomotor level were 72.5, 77.5, and 62.5 for peer role-play, SP-interview, and real patient interview in clerkship, respectively. Conclusions: Students' performance is lower in higher level of competence. Curriculums should provide more opportunities of practices to students, and include evaluation focusing on performance skills.
The purpose of this study was to analyse undergraduate medical students' perception of the complementary and alternative medicine(CAM) and Korean medicine. A total of 409 undergraduate medical students participated in the survey. Methodologically, descriptive statistics, MANOVA and logistic regression analysis were conducted. First grade students had more positive perception of CAM and Korean medicine than others. There were no significant differences in the perception of CAM in terms of students' grade and gender(affective attitude, compatability, effectiveness, intention to adoption). However, there was gender difference in perception of Korean medicine. Also, the result showed that students' perception of effectiveness had influence whether they recognize CAM and Korean medicine as medicine or not. Based on results, this study suggest that medical school should develop the curriculum that improve students decision-making ability and critical capacity, especially for lower grades, so that stdents can give reasonable advice for patients' needs.
The purpose of this study is to provide direction of medical education by analysing medical school student's perception structure about 'happy doctor'. In particular, this study compared perception structure between two groups of students before clerkship and after clerkship. The subject of this study were 1~4 academic year students in medical school. Students' text about 'happy doctor' were collected by open-ended questionnaire and analyzed by using sematic network analysis. Based on the result of network analysis, perception structure of each groups were confirmed. The network of each groups have 'Professionalism' group including words such as 'patient', 'treatment', 'worthwhile' in common. Three groups, 'Professionalism', 'Quality of life' and 'Self-realization' constituted the before clerkship network. And five groups, 'Professionalism', 'Time with family', 'Balance between work and household', 'Interpersonal relationship', 'Physical and psychological health' constituted the after clerkship network. The results of this study is expected to contribute for developing the basic medical education curriculum for 'happy doctor'.
