  • Purpose : The purposes of this study were to determine the relationships of communication skills with smartphone addiction and self-efficacy before clinical practice training among nursing students and to provide basic data for developing and verifying the effectiveness of an intervention program for improving nursing students' communication skills. Methods : This study targeted those who obtained consent to collect data explained the purpose and procedure of the study for the first and second graders of the nursing department at one university located in B city. The data collection period was from April 24 to May 13, 2023. A total of 207 questionnaire responses were included in the analysis. The collected data were analyzed using t-tests and analysis of variance in the SPSS/Win 230 program. The results were reported as real numbers, percentages, mean values, and standard deviations. The correlations between the variables were analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results : Smartphone addiction according to the general characteristics of the study subjects showed significant differences in 'residence type' (F=2.91, p=.035) and 'average smartphone usage time' (F=20.15, p=.000). It seemed. self-efficacy was determined by 'age' (F=2.74, p=.045), 'subjective academic level' (F=7.71, p=.001), and 'average smartphone usage time' (F=3.96, p=.009) showed a significant difference. Communication skills showed a significant difference in 'average smartphone usage time' (F=3.83, p=.011). The correlation between the variables of the study subjects showed that self-efficacy was negatively correlated with smartphone addiction (r=-.42, p<.001), and communication ability was positively correlated with self-efficacy. It was found that (r=.55, p<.001). 15) Conclusion : On the basis of the study results, the higher the nursing students' smartphone addiction, the lower their self-efficacy, and the higher their communication ability, the higher their self-efficacy. Therefore, intervention research is necessary to develop interventions for preventing smartphone addiction and increasing communication ability among nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine what the formation of a community incorporating two generations of people can give the elderly and the problems which are associated with establishing related programs of this kind. For this, the researcher enacted ethnographic method like as observant participation and in-depth interview on 24 participants. From this study, I found that the elderly and the children who took part in several programs to form the intergenerational linkages made the system meaningful in the following ways: first, the more harmonious the communication across between two age groups is, the more the understanding between them increases. Second, the sense of community has intensified the natural harmony. Third, the more self-satisfaction and confidence increases, the more self-efficacy is enhanced. Fourth, the purposeful and creative activities with peers have enabled the elderly to enjoy their leisure time. Fifth, the elderly have experienced the pleasure of learning and sharing common sense as a life-long learners. However, in the process of this program, several problems occurred such as the rigidly bureaucratic operation of the program and the elderly people's individual differences. In addition, the lack of a precisely-existing program necessary to form the intergenerational linkages and to bring together different generations was a problem. Finally, I have concluded that the effort to form the intergenerational linkages helps increase the understanding and cooperation across age groups and contributes to the successful aging of the elderly.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of a simulation-based learning method that utilizes the task of making a video for respiratory patients care. A quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group pre-post test design was used. A total of 56 students-28 students in the experimental group and 28 students in the control group were included. The experimental group received the 2 education sessions with 120 minutes in each session. It was implemented in November, 2014. Data were analyzed with paired t-test and unpaired t-test using SPSS/Win 18.0. The experimental group who had the simulation-based learning method utilizing the task of making video. It showed significantly higher learning satisfaction (p=.008 p<.001), and self-efficacy (p=.010) compared with the control group who had a traditional simulation education. Through this study, The educational effects of video-making task are the stimulation of interest in learners, improvement of self-led learning and communication skills. Therefore, a simulation-based learning method utilizing the task of making a video was an effective teaching method for the growth of professional competency for students involved in health related fields.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables that had an effect on the maturity of career attitude in middle school students. Independent variables were categorized into three groups: individual-related variables, family-related variables, and school-related variables. The individual-related variables were gender difference, academic year, academic achievement, and self-efficacy. The family-related variables were socio-economic status of the family, communication about career with parents, parental support, sibling's support, and value orientation of the family. The school-related variables included communication about career with friends, teacher's support, and friend's support. The subjects of this study were 490 students who were selected at random from first, second, and third grade of middle school in Daegu. A questionnaire was used for the survey. It consisted of a career attitude maturity scale, a self-efficacy scale, a communication scale, a value orientation of the family scale, and a social support scale. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The major findings of this study are summarized as follow: First, among the individual-related variables that had an effect on the maturity of career attitude in middle school students, self-efficacy affected all sub-factors of how mature they were in matters relating to career. Academic achievement affected decisiveness and preparation-- maturity of career attitude subfactors. And gender difference and academic year affected preparation and goal orientation. Second, the results of the family-related variables that had an effect on the maturity of career attitudes in middle school students were that communication about career with parents affected decisiveness, preparation, and confidence-- maturity of career attitude sub-factors, socio-economic status of the family and sibling's support affected confidence. And value orientation of the family affected goal orientation and independence. Third, the results of the school-related variables that had an effect on the maturity of career attitude in middle school students were that communication about career with friends affected preparation-- a maturity of career attitude sub-factor; teacher's support affected decisiveness, preparation, and confidence; and friend's support affected confidence and independence. Fourth, decisiveness, preparation, and confidence among the maturity of career attitude sub-factors were affected the most by individual variables. And self-efficacy was the most significant. Goal orientation and independence were affected the most by family-related variables.

  • This paper discuss adolescent's a quality of life related with risk behavior. The purpose of this study investigate to influence on risk behavior(runaway, smoking, sexual behavior) of the protective factors that moderate adolescent's problem behavior(delinquency). The assumption of this study that the protective factors counterbalance the negative influence of risk factors and finally, diminish a the problem behavior including a delinquent. A total of 1,020 students of a vocational high schook and a 216 adolescents of a special groups(the public institution that consisted with a delinquent young man) completed the questionnaires(risk behavior, 5 protective factors) of compiled by this researcher. The protective factors have selected based on the various prior studies analyzed with adolescent's risk behavior a family functioning, a father(a mother) each and child communication, a self efficacy, and a social support. Statistics appled for the data analysis are Chisqure analysis, two-way ANOVA, and Standard Discrimination analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, the special group is higher than the general group in the rate of runaway, smoking, and sexual deviant behavior. Second, the protective factors are not action in the special group have experienced delinquency, but are only action in the general group consisted with the students of a vocational high schools. This means that the protective factors discriminating the participation of the risk behaviors, and blocking out the intervention of a problem behavior in the general adolescents. Although each protective factor influence to different according to each risk behavior, a role of a parent-child communication, a family functioning, and self-efficacy high orderly. Finally, discussed based on the previous studies that the protective factors moderate the negative influence of risk factors, offset the connection between a risk behavior and a. problem behavior, and improve and a resilience and the quality of life of the adolescents.
